Luka would have to have the body and mind of Michael Jordan to not be exhausted with his workload and length of career by this age. He stated pro ball at 16
When you get injured, and are still hot, the worst thing you can do is try to power trough the injury. Its never worth it to gimp around and jump on one foot, trying to play one defensive possession. Because you risk making that injury way worse, tearing more tendons, tissue, muscle, breaking more bone, etc. whatever was wrong.
As a mavs fan I normally wouldn't worry too much but I am OFFICIALLY concerned. This is our best chance at a championship since he was drafted but this is also the most he's been injured. Idk man
I remember Mav fan mocking and laughing at Jayson Tatum for bulking up really caring about his fitness... Now they're wishing he would take his fitness and conditioning more seriously... Who's laughing now
This needs to be a wakeup call to Luka and the Mavs. The amount of workload he's taking on that weight is not sustainable. He needs to drop 10-20 pounds and find that middle ground where he's strong enough to bully the smaller defenders while being agile against the bigger guys. The way he plays the game is not that of an injury prone guy and the fact that he's constantly getting injured is a tell that his body is not handling the extra stress his weight is putting on the legs.
All of his injuries have been to his lower extremities-ankle,heel,knee and now his calf. The next one(i sure hope not)would be his achilles which corresponds to the heel up to the calf. IMO he needs to shed at last 15 lbs to avoid any more injuries and have a prolonged career. When he played in the Euro league his frame was slender and he was quick at 200. He had to put on weight when he started playing for Dallas to compete with NBA athletes. For me his ideal playing weight should not exceed 220 lbs,
I agree with pretty much everything you said. He needs to realize where is bread is buttered, and stop some of his summer playing. I am a die hard Mavs fan, been hear since 1980 and Luka is one of the best I've ever seen.
Look at Luka's games played over his career. He's only hit 70 games twice in 7 seasons. Plenty of players have had his workload and missed less games. He's out of shape. Plain and simple. It's not like he's a high flyer and putting himself at risk while airborne. He MUST start taking his fitness seriously. Look at LeBron's games played over his career. It ain't going to get easier as Luka gets older
Im assuming the Mavs are gonna take their time with him, since this was a lingering issue. KD had a grade 1 calf strain before coming back and ultimately tearing his Achilles. But I pray Luka has a speedy recovery.!!!
Yes my opinion is he needs to make that switch that veterans like kyrie or chris paul make to take care of their bodies more sooner rather than later after a catastrophic tear that side lines him for a year or two. The mileage hes already had at his age is compiling and his body is telling him to make a change or get seriously hurt. If it means falling in the standings so be it just get right for the playoffs
I believe in this team...one thing the Mavs don't lack is heart and tenacity. We saw it displayed in the 4th quarter of the Christmas Day game and the last stretch of games that Luka was out. I believe that Kyrie can keep us afloat until Luka's return if the others step up in their roles. Luka needs to come back 100 for the play-in/play off runs so he needs to take as much time as he needs. As much as it is not an ideal situation, we got this!! Go MAVS!!
I feel like the NBA is Payne Luca to play basketball games that he should be responsive and respectful and not play during the summer which is ridiculous
Not injury prone but his playstyle can be very hard on the body. The constant looking for contact when driving and the sudden breaks whilst being 230-250 pounds can strain the muscles.
@@ALEX808sinjury prone means he’s out for a long period of time like kawhi or embiid. Most of his injuries are short term muscle strain or contusions that are caused by contact. Calf strain can easily be because of his playstyle causing a strain on his muscles given how much he weighs
@yusufoz6729 Injury Prone doesn’t exactly mean someone is out for a long time. That’s like saying Klay Thompson is injury prone because he was out for 2 years. Injury Prone means frequently injured or sustaining injuries.
Don't worry too much about Luka. He comes from the Balkan peninsula. He'll be fine. Mavs have a good rooster this year and can win games without him. They are better with Luka, but all they need is to get to the PO. It doesn't matter if Mavs have the home court advantage. They will always have the best player in the series on the court, and that is more important than having the home court advantage. At least in the NBA. Now, if this was Euroleague, home court would matter because you don't want to play too many games in the opponents arena since fans are likely going to be throwing lighter, mobile phones, coins, flash bangs and other stuff at you. In the NBA, the most dangerous thing that can happen to a player is if someone in the first row spills his drink and they slip on it. O and fans chanting DEFENSE, DEFENSE.
Mavs are winning garbage time minutes because Hardy is the king of garbage time! I watched enough Mavs games to realize that Jeff can easily end up with double figures in the 11-13 pts range within that 5-min garbage time window😄
I think it's mostly high use. Played the finals last year then went over seas to play over there. I dont care for how he contorts and twists his body around to get ticky tack fouls either. I really don't see this getting better as he takes very little time off in the off season.
How i wish he didnt play overseas but who are we to tell... If he wants to represent his country, he will do it... HE said it before, he makes his country proud everytime he represents it
I think this is a phenomenal chance for Kyrie to go for some awards and achievements he hasn't got yet. I know it would take some INSANE performances to be an MVP contender, but I hope he can atleast use the chance and go crazy, get the love and attention he deserves. Knowing Ky he will have some disapointing games but I really hope he can lock in like yday 4th quarter
Kyrie is way too talented of a player to be lacking in the awards and achievements department so I really do hope this season he can get some rewards and shut some people up like an all star team, all nba first team and a top 5 mvp candidate would be great for Kyrie. He is 32 turning 33 soon so he doesn't have a lot of time left so this is pretty much one of if not his last true attempt of having an mvp caliber season.
I would say that Luka is mid-level injury-prone. He's not up there with the guys you named like kawhi leonard, Joel embiid or Paul George but he does get injured more than the average NBA player in my opinion. I think a lot of it comes from his play style and unfortunately some of it probably does come from the fact that he does not always show up for the beginning of the season in the best shape. I know that he figures it out after about a month and becomes one of the best players in the NBA but I think he is carrying a little bit too much weight and it's having an effect on his health. I hope this doesn't linger too long because the Mavericks are a much easier team to beat without Luka doncic. Kyrie is great but you need those two guys or else they're just going to try to shut Kyrie down and that's probably going to end up giving us a few more L'S then we might want. When you have Luka doncic and Kyrie Irving out there it's very hard to play defense against them but it gets a lot easier if you take one of them out of the equation.🎉🎉🎉
This is just basketball shoes not doing their jobs. These basketball players walking on clouds have none of the body tissue required for protecting their joints. Please NBA hire some body physicians to educate the players, telling them these so-called shoes are a body decaying tool.
He's already missed too many to qualify for awards, so I'd say let him heal until he's declared 100% by the doctors, then go 1-2 weeks past that (depending on how they're performing). They already have it set up to try to acquire a PF, so maybe rent a player who can give you points and assists or rebounds. This team is good enough to get back to the Finals....even without Luka. If Kyrie gets hurt with this lineup, they're going to drop 15 out of the next 16 and might miss the playoffs entirely. Find a real PG or SG who can be a solid contributor and deal with the glut of players after Luka comes back and stays healthy.
@@kevinhowe3280 He's already missed 8. That means he can only miss 9 more for the entire season and he has an injury that is going to keep him out a MINIMUM of 2 weeks, and more likely a month. He's going to be well under 65 for the season, no matter how healthy he is the rest of the way.

Because when you think of an injury prone player, you think of someone like Zion Williamson who misses A LOT of time due to injuries. Luka will just miss 1-2 games here or there throughout the season. His injuries for the most part have been minor. This is his first big injury that could see him miss months of action

@@rikolai22 i hope i am too pessimistic but look at schedule until February 1,(inc.Detroit) and count how many wins we can achieve
6-2 without Luka but one of those losses was without Luka And Kyrie
im not too worried about this stretch, but i just hope this doesn't fuck his health up for the next 3 years. i know theres losses incoming and i HATE to lose but im also sort of excited to see kyrie first option ball for more than just a few games
Well… just bought tickets to one of the games for February.. guess I won’t see Luka play anytime soon :/
Luka would have to have the body and mind of Michael Jordan to not be exhausted with his workload and length of career by this age. He stated pro ball at 16
will never happen - you have to work for it ^^
He will be ok God will bless him
When you get injured, and are still hot, the worst thing you can do is try to power trough the injury.

The way he plays the game is not that of an injury prone guy and the fact that he's constantly getting injured is a tell that his body is not handling the extra stress his weight is putting on the legs.
youre saying tim knows what hes doing when he says stuff on twitter but u dont think hes implying anything by that?
no
@@SlightlyBiased not very biased of you
All of his injuries have been to his lower extremities-ankle,heel,knee and now his calf. For me his ideal playing weight should not exceed 220 lbs,
Calf injury is what has killed Mike Trout's career
Ofc hes injury prone. Hes playing top level BB basicly with no rest in off-seasons 4 10 years now
I agree with pretty much everything you said.
Dude, Howard Beck is just a Mavs hater. He was shitting on them during their entire Finals run.
Go MAVS!!
I wish Luka and Jokic would just pocket their $100M, leave the NBA and let the league die.
😂 so true
I feel like the NBA is Payne Luca to play basketball games that he should be responsive and respectful and not play during the summer which is ridiculous
Not injury prone but his playstyle can be very hard on the body. The constant looking for contact when driving and the sudden breaks whilst being 230-250 pounds can strain the muscles.
The dude is injury prone. This injury has absolutely nothing to with his play style. He was dribbling the ball with no contact and got hurt.
@tristantemple834 most nba players have slight injuries. Luka played with a lot during last playoffs.
@@ALEX808sthe injuries have a lot to do with how opps are allowed to maul the man. If you guard SGA like that you get a flagrant
O and fans chanting
DEFENSE, DEFENSE.
Maybe Dallas can build more cohesion without him on the court trying to dictate everything though. Half empty half full kind of thing.
10:29 title your document 🤣💀
Glad you brought up his international play, that’s the problem here.
3 yrs in and never seen slightly without glasses
Your eyes are b e a utiful, you dont need glasses.best wishes for luka.
He needs proper rest and obligatory fewer kilos. Dallas is deep enough to manage without him for a month.
3:37 he should have said "couldn't" make it back. I do believe it was a shot.
Lol "its ranch!"
PJ played bad last night but still, PJ’s Team.
PJ’s team. Ya bettah hope…
If it's torn, he's out for the season
Call this f-ed up,
but every injury on a contending team makes me a little more optimistic for my Blazers this trade deadline.
Watch Luka play tomorrow and be completely fine :D
I feel like he’s gonna be out for 4 weeks but he’ll take a little more to rest his body
Career avg of games played. 6 full regular seasons. 66.6 gp. That's not injury prone.
Slightlybiased got into politics to take side of Tim macmohan
Hes not missed too many for awards.
@@kevinhowe3280he very likely will
@@kevinhowe3280 He's already missed 8. That means he can only miss 9 more for the entire season and he has an injury that is going to keep him out a MINIMUM of 2 weeks, and more likely a month.

The NBA pays him $43M /year. Them allowing him to play all summer outside the US is why he is now injury prone at 25 yo.
All summer? He played 3 qualifing games for NT and almost 100 nba games in 8 months. I don´t think those 3 games is the reason why.
Luka is definitely injury prone imo, he's just not prone to MAJOR injuries like some of these other guys...i get the exact same feeling everytime i watch AD and Luka, both incredibly dominant when they play, but every single time someone touches them and they go down, im just left holding my breath, it legit feels like Luka gets injured out of nowhere sometimes, like just now vs. Minnesota where you literally could not tell wtf happened untill they explained it... i hope he can make the 65 game minimum, even if its looking bleak
Luka needs to hit the gym more, instead of beer and chips late into night playing Overwatch. Hes not 18 anymore.
Bring back Casey smith .

You ramble wtf
He just had 3 months+ in the summer and he's been playing off ball a lot more. Still gets injured. The dude is 25 and looks 30, he's always out of shape. Go look him up in Spain vs now. The dude cant be trusted with conditioning and diet but hes a start and nobody is gonna tell him. His 30s are gonna look very grim
I won’t claim he’s a fitness guru now, obviously, but going back to watch a 16/17 year old boy in Madrid and trying to compare him to a 25 year old man isn’t the way to prove a point.
He has to come at least ONCE in his career in top shape at the beginning of the season! Jokic improved his game a lot in the two seasons he was not playing in the summer for serbia. Time for Luka to grow up. With his talent everything other than 2-5 chips would be a failure and a waste of talent.
Propaganda
Chronic degradation. His body is done.
Obviously he is injury prone. There goes the MVP.
You dont know what injury prone means then

Blows my mind people say Luka isn't injury prone. If he's not injury prone, why is he ALWAYS dealing with injuries?!?
Wouldn’t say Luka is injury prone if we compared him to actual injury prone players like Porzingus and Kawhi. But I would say he is irresponsible with his injuries.
Because when you think of an injury prone player, you think of someone like Zion Williamson who misses A LOT of time due to injuries. Luka will just miss 1-2 games here or there throughout the season. His injuries for the most part have been minor. This is his first big injury that could see him miss months of action
Getting mauled every game
Luka will be back, he won't be MVP this year(award should rightfully go to Jokic with his outrageous stats and consistency, even with Luka being healthy), but we'll be back for the playoffs as a dark horse yet again and get the ring this time.
Luka is no different then Zion
I am a doctor, trust me, the guy has been playing competitive basketball for the last 10 years and hes 26, like his career will not be as long as some expect, we may have already seen his peak
Thank you for your valuable input Dr @SuperZombieSlayerzzz. Now if you wouldn't mind, considering the festive season, can you wrap it in Christmas wrapping and shove it up your butt. Thank you!
Yup! He’s injury prone. Latest nutritional science says one’s diet/habits have a dramatic role in athletes and injuries. Overweight, slow, sloppy…..has made Luka an injury machine…thankfully nothing too serious. Nico and the Mavs need to get serious about Luka’s dietary habits of sweets/alcohol/refinesd Carbs…
