Do predator mites die in winter cold weather? I live in Australia but I live in cool temperate zone in Victoria which is like Tasmania weather. Would they survive outside permanently?
I ordered $250 of predator mites over a year ago for my houseplants and they seem to disappear for days and than thousands suddenly show up. They are my self sustainable little soldiers.
Spider mites need live plants. You might have other mites present--there are tons that live in soil! Soil mites shouldn't damage plants and are probably feeding on decaying material. If they are a nuisance, I recommend 1) If you are somewhere hot: wrap the bags in clear plastic and place them outside in direct sun for 1-2 weeks to solarize them. 2) If you are somewhere cold, leave them outside in sub freezing weather for 1-2.
Anyone know if theres a resource on how to culture these yourself? I'm working on several large ecosphere terrariums, and I could do with a terrestrial microfauna herbivore/carnivore cycle.
How did you go? If I had room I would do it too. I hope they survive in cool temperate zone in weather in Victoria Australia. I don’t feel like buying them every spring.
Marcus, these predators primarily feed on spider mites. Eriophyid mites are concealed within plants (under bud scales or within crowns), and it's unlikely that these predators will be as effective against them.
@@scoobs80 I’m finding this to be true . I got some pyrethrum spray. It helps but u really have to soak the leaves to get all spider mites and it doesn’t kill eggs .
when you about to make fun of the music but then you lost in a trance bobbing your head watching these mites ^_^
SofaKingSustainable lmao, right!!

Fallacis and Californicus are also effective against broad and cyclamen mites.
they dont do fuck all mate
are they also effective against russet mites ?!
Occidentalis is better for Russet mites than any of these species.
they arent effective against anything, its a big con,get some pyrethrim spray instead
