- ARABIAN GULF (Nov. 27, 2014) Sailors and Marines aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal while underway in the Arabian Gulf. The ship's leadership took time to serve their Sailors and Marines more than 2.5 tons of turkey on the mess decks during Thanksgiving dinner. Carl Vinson is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts in the region. (U.S. Navy video by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Samuel LeCain/Released)
when i was in the army i missed home at the holidays big diners and family. now that i am out of the army i miss the mess halls on holidays where rank was set aside and everyone ate together eating as much as your belly could fit. Holidays in the military are awesome they really are special days.
Mind missing something that is not available 😕
The best Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had was at the chow hall at Fort Knox when I was going to OSUT in 1991. They absolutely loaded us up and the food was excellent and the Drill Sergeant's ate with us as well.....they even let us take a styrofoam container loaded with desserts back to the barracks.

I agree my real family does nothing I would rather go to mess hall.
I’m an Army veteran & have nothing but respect to all the cooks & dining facility workers of our armed forces whether they’re soldiers or civilians They work hard year round to fuel our soldiers Even the cooks in my armor unit was out in the field with us either freezing or sweating their butts off when we were training
Also during the holidays like the Thanksgiving meal shown here, they really do an amazing job A lot of times soldiers will be deployed or away from home during the holidays & a nice holiday meal cam really help boost morale & keep spirits high
Thanks for all of your hard work to the cooks of the US Armed Forces & thanks for all soldiers & veterans for serving🙂👍
Hear here, Breh.
Three key personnel you really gotta respect:
1. Your Cooks - They're the ones that cook your food to perfection.
2. Your Personnelmen - They're the ones who take care of your pay.
3. Your Supply Folks - They're the ones who get your equipment and take care of them for you.
All of these women and men deserve the best. Thank you all for your service.
Bringing back fond memories. The US Navy took great pride in feeding well its sailors. Been there, done that. Go Navy!!
They have the second best chow in the military. The Airforce has the best, then the Navy, then the Army, last is the Marines.
If an army marches on its stomach, how much more does it mean to sailors who have literally nothing else for months on end!
Give them all they want and more! They deserve it.
@felipe meza shut up.
@felipe meza lmao
felipe meza no fuck you sack of worthless shit from some fuck turd banana jungle country
@Vicente Fox Quezada No, and they will continue to rule the waves.
People who joined the military are the retards who couldn't get into college why are we praising them
Oh man, I get chills watching this. I spent 5 long years straight on that ship. Away from family and with only the company of my fellow shipmates (I hate that term). My dear old dad, also a fellow sailor, told me when I enlisted "Son, The Navy It's the most fun you'll ever hate". He was right. Ten years later, I miss the Vinson like I miss my first car. It was , clunky, loud and old, but damn, it was a good ol' girl with a lot of love to give. What an adventure I had.
A Ham When did you serve? I was aboard Vinson from 1983 to 1986. MMR1 LCPO.
A Ham dude I know. I'm half way through my contract on the uss new york, and 90 percent of the time I hate it, but man have I seen and been places not possible without joining. Just got back from first deployment 8 days ago, hated it but at the same time I know it was other wordly.
@@navyplumberboy8274 at least you have a good attitude about it. My command had such low morale if you were having a good day they'd shit on you
As a former Navy man myself I hear you I spent 12 years as a navigator in A6 a lot of long months away from home on the USS Enterprise miss it a lot now but the food was damn good just a little info I live less than a mile from Carl Vinson Parkway the same guy the ship is named after have a good one
I did 10 years naval aviation and the comment ( the navy is the most fun you'll ever hate really makes sooooo much sense ! ) Thank you and your dad and all military vetetans for there service.
These sea-going warriors deserve the best of everything.....
and that includes a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.
Thanks for your dedicated service, sailors.
Bon appetit!
I’m a retired Army Food Service Specialist (92 Golf), & I have watched a lot of videos on our nation’s impressive carriers, submarines of all classes, and all of the other cruisers & destroyers, I have to admit, I am jealous, because the sailors on all the ships are living a hell of a lot better that the Army Land Lubbers.
There's nothing like thanksgiving day in the military. True American spirit always hits home!!!
Ahoy, former USN myself. Happy Thanksgiving throughout the USN and the rest of our Armed Forces wherever you are. Gods speed on you return to your loved ones.
Always nice to see a fellow sea dog on here 🤘🏻⚓🤘🏻
Amen
@@Mr.Deleterious War Fighter here 25th Light Infantry, yes we were stationed in Hawaii, unfortunately most of our time was spent in the field. The most importamt thing I taught my soldiers was, to shoot accurate and deadly, one shot one kill.
Ahhh the Golden Eagle. I was an Aviation Ordnanceman aboard her for 4 years from 1998 - 2002 under CMDR Crocker, before she was overhauled. Finest ship in the entire US Navy. The galley looks a lot different than i remember it but some things are the same. Officers serving enlisted goes back to the days of the galleons tho. This ship will always hold a special place in my heart. ⚓🔱🇺🇲🔱⚓
red shirt?
capt wren took over command after 911 before the October 2001strikes started
I got on there in 2001 with Captain McKeon and I'm sure you remember that 9/11 fiasco that was definitely an interesting Cruise to say the least I worked on the signal bridge for that cruise and I loved Captain wren and Captain mananzer
Oh the memories I was on this deployment when they did this!! So many faces I recognize I'm so glad I found this video.
I would like to personally thank you for your service guys and gals. I know the sacrifice you put forth may at times seem unappreciated....but trust me, it doesn't go unnoticed. I too served, and you have joined one of the largest fraternities in the world. Bravo zulu.
These guys deserved all this. While in Kaboul, Afghanistan as a part of Macedonian Armed Forces serving in 6 months mission in coalition troops I enjoyed the delicious meals in American dining facility. It was greatest time in all my military career...there was everything one can even imagine, a lot of various cooked meals, all kind of meat from pork and turkey to beef, chicken and lambs, all vegetables, salads, fruits, bevariges, icecream, sweets, nuts, cofee......good and unlimited food, everyday excercises in a very well equiped gym results in my loose an overweight, quit smooking cigarettes.... god bless America. Greetings from Macedonia !!
There was a few good meals, until Gonzo Station. There we was fed rice, cooked in JP-5 impregnated water, and Daisy Drink (reconstituted vegetable oil) .... Guess it depended where you was at! USS Coral Sea CV-43, off the coast of iran during the hostage crisis was a drag !!!
I am a Veteran who appreciate''s there selfless service to keep there troops feed with a great attitude and Devotion to those they serve with. God Bless You,
I like your accounts name.
When someone serves you with a genuine smile,it makes all the difference!
Never ate like this in the Marines during the 70’s. Good show, Navy
Lol!😂
I love these kids they deserve the best bcuz they are the best bless you all
Those guys/girls deserve everything man, I wish I could give them all a hug for the appreciation I have for them
Thank you all for your service! God bless you.
Had some good food at sea especially around the holidays. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
Too all military cooks and food prep personnel !!!!! Your job is just as important keeping the soldiers fed !!! Thank you for your service
These meals would have never been possible without the cooks onboard. Respect to them.
Wow, it’s just unbelievable the amount of food that must be consumed daily on such a great ship! Happy Thanksgiving from England 👍
That was nice to see I'm so glad they were taken care of for thanksgiving. Lots of smiles, happy thanksgiving!
Brings back memories, thanks
Thank You for your service!!!! 🙏🏾
I served on the carrier Bon Homme Richard CVA-31 in the 60's, they had the best food ever, home made bread and pastries. While out to sea the galley was open for 23 hours, I'd have four or five meals a day and never gained weight. I miss the old girl, she was decommissioned and sold for scrape although part of her is in the Smithsonian or was when I visited.
I'm glad they took care of our sailors, thank you sir!
helmitpeak huh better than your momma's cooking?
Yes, in many ways, They were trained prof. chefs after all.
i hear they dont get it that good anymore
Aboard ship, yes i'm sure they do, it's a moral builder.
A lot of smiles! I hope they enjoyed that meal! They deserved it!
Nice to get a good meal when your lonely and for from home.
you're* far*

@@commondirtbagz7130 :( dont be mean bro. I have coronavirus
Michael Spoto well your comment was unneeded when this was a wholesome comment. Good luck on recovering though.
Holiday meals on a ship were always special!!!!!
Thank you all what you do looks amazing
My sincere thanks for all you who serve.
Glad to see these heroes are eating better than me. They deserve it and more.
An army marches on it's stomach, as Napoleon once said. Crappy food can affect morale so bad it makes an army lose a war lol.

***** they fight for freedom and defend our home country
Speaking as a United States Marine the Navy has the best chow around! In 1971 it was a whole lot better than C-rations! God bless all military cooks! Thanks 🙏 Navy, anchors away! Shellbacks forever!
Thankyou For Your Service!!
Thank you ALL for your Service. God
Bless
Damn time flys by I served 4 years onboard USS Carl Vinson aka Chuckie V I'll never forget that 11 1/2month deployment. Operation Inherent Resolve
Thank you for the video and for the armed forces personnel to who continue to serve Hooyah !
Wow what happened to six months?
Shout out to all the military cooks, food service personnel, etc. I have to say, they always tried to put out a nice spread for the holidays and I thought they did a pretty damn good job. One of my favorites was the 2nd CEB/2nd Tank Battalion chow hall aboard Camp LeJeune, N.C. 1988-1993. Semper Fi! In another life 1-161 Infantry Regiment HHC didn't do to bad either during our tour in Baghdad 2004-2005.
My friend Kevin Roger's was a cook in the Navy. He always hooked me up when I was on watch. I'll always remember the fun times we had in the veg prep room on the U.S.S. Blue Ridge.
Ah yes. I remember Thanksgiving at sea. We were at the end of a 9-month deployment. We had left Pearl and were on our way back to San Diego. Thanks to being able to get supplies in Pearl our cooks put together a buffet on the mess deck that would have made a great restaurant proud. The food was great and the presentation magnificent. Navy cooks are the greatest!
That looks good, Thanks everyone for your service
God Bless You All and May His Grace be with you All. Happy Giving and Thanks for Giving!
Wow! Looks a lot different than when I was in..’81 - ‘85. Thanks for y’all’s service, it’s appreciated...BZ!
Thankyou for your service
quality everything , they all deserve it !
i cooked on the Abraham Lincoln when it first got commissioned it was hard work but i had a blast doing it!
(AL) I've been on that boat, made our 180 buoy tender look like a toy.
God Bless each and everyone of these folks for their service and sacrifice for our country. I love all of you
god bless you my brothers
Big family as big as a town. Happy thanks giving.
Cheers from Indonesia
So far on my 12 years of service in the Navy i missed 9 Thanksgiving at home. But i was still with family

Thx for you.service~!!
Hands down the best quality Thanksgiving meal I ever consumed was the one I had in the Army while serving in Korea!
Cheers to all service men and women! Happy Thanksgiving!
I served 30yrs in the AF and enjoyed all branches chow halls!! Great food, served by the best Americans!!...Thank You!!
I am lying in a hospital bed about to be served a tasteless dinner, big mistake watching this, happy thanksgiving to our American cousins when the time comes. 🤤
May you recover soon or may have recovered

Glad you're home! God bless! Hope you keep well!
I remember when the carrier groups came back to base. I felt like throwing them hamburgers cause of how skinny they've gotten. They eat well on these ships but the amount of work and walking they do on the ships is amazing. Good job guys.
Bull.
Glad to help provide the food! You all deserve it!
Thank you for your service and sacrifices..
Happy thanksgiving brothers and sisters! Hopefully I'll be joining you very soon since I want to join the navy myself! Anchors aweigh!
God Bless America’s Men and Women Serving To Protect Us
Every Single Second!
Thank You 😊
They are so kind and grateful to the cooks. I wish I was given some pleasantries after I cook. I know its obviously nothing to scale they do. But they are so thankful and polite. Its lovely to see.
Thank you all for your service!
I remember my day's in the Navy. We were fed
Thanksgiving dinner aboard our carrier. We
Ate Good. Breakfas lunch and dinner
Bravo Zulu for a job well done guys and gals! You deserve it.
Thank you for keeping us safe.
When you are away from your home and family/loved ones for teh Holidays, you can count on the Mess cooks to pull out ALL THE STOPS to make the holiday meal one to remember and make the separation a bit less lonely! I did 23 years in teh Navy, Missed countless Christmas and Thanksgiving. Never had a bad meal, always ate my fill ( and sometime more ). I salute the mess cooks for all they do!
I remember when the CV (CV70!) was the newest carrier in the fleet! My my...how time has flown!
I was stationed on her then. 84 to 88
Yeah, a big thank you.You guys deserve only the very best for the great job you do.Protecting and defending democracy in our world against terrorism and extremism.Again, a big thank you to all our serving men and women,we love you and we're damned very proud of you.
Thank you for your service...you deserve good meals everyday....
Thanks for all the services and effort you render in 3very country
God bless you all and keep safe
Great to see working peoples receiving good food!👍
One thing about the military; they sure feed the troops well - especially on holidays! Miss my holiday meals on Diego Garcia!
Food looks awesome and they deserve it. It is an incredibly important piece of the whole situation on a sub. It’s a way to boost your spirits, sit down and talk with someone, something to look forward to. I worked at the most northern military base in the world in 1977. I worked in the kitchen at CFB Alert (Canadian Forces Base) and I’m telling you the food was unreal good.
Thank God for the sacrifice these service members make, bless their hearts.
Amen. These women and men are amazing. They graduated from basic and the get shipped to nowhere and few people ever think what they are doing each day to secure the STARS AND STRIPES.
God bless are troops and may god watch over them..🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
May God free them!
USS Carl Vinson was my first aircraft carrier, having previously served aboard two nuclear powered submarines. What a culture shock. When I reported aboard, I was standing in line for medical and this PO1 asked me what I was doing. When I told him I was in line for medical department check in, he said "Chiefs do not stand in line aboard Carl Vinson" and immediately took me to the front of the line. Both submarine and surface cultures have a long tradition in the Navy and I love and respect them both. What a terrific bunch sailors with which to serve.
MMC(SS) USN Ret.
So very thankful for the wonderful men and women of our military. 👍🏼
I did one tour on Chucky V and never saw a carving station but the chow was prety darn good. Thanksgiving & Christmas meals were always quite tasty. I remember cottage cheese being one of the offerings. Finished out in the Army Guard and had some fine chow along the way.
I talk shit sometimes about this country, but I'll never diss these servicemen and women.
The Reel Dill same.
except that I lost a friend because most go into it for an easy way out and to collect a check .. im not saying all some of these servicemen and woman do it for a cause not a check ..the ones in it for a check risk the lives of those there to defend our freedoms .... I would say 40% are there for the money and easy way out so to say but its not an easy way out thats the thing .. god bless them and I hope none lose their lives again ... on either side of it
Thanks,82nd Airborne.
Fuck Congress.
The Reel Dill thanks I am a rcmp and former air man in Canada
that window at the beginning of the video is the best design ever.

I was stationed onboard from 2001 to 2004. loved it
Was on a destroyer in the 80's and God bless the cooks! They always did a great job especially since it was always something t look forward to after a watch, breakfast was my favorite, and the holidays were great!
Next thanksgiving home, safe, God willing! ;)
Dayum, the Navy has it all...
Thank God for these young people that defend our country. They deserve the best!!
I spent two Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays deployed on the USS John F Kennedy CV-67 in 1986 and in 1988 and the spread that they had for us was delicious! Kudos to the culinary staff!
I am Happy to see my Tax dollars..go to something Good..God Bless u all..I wish we could do More..

The food looks absolutely delicious. The aircraft carriers and their crew more than deserve it.
Whether you are on board an American vessel, stationed abroad or simply at home. Nothing beats of an all American Thanksgiving. Thanks for serving our country to the men and women of our armed forces.
These Americans are so far away from family & friends and they're enjoying a much better Thanksgiving then I have had in many years. Good speed to you all.
Thank you for posting this video it really helps me show my students what Thanksgiving is like aboard a large Navy vessel. Can you post a video of the mess hall on a typical day? Also one of my students wanted to know when do the cooks eat? (future Navy cook for you!)
On smaller ships the cooks usually eat just before the rest of the crew that way if they were running the grill they could take care of the rest of us
Woww that's so amazing
I'm so proud of our fighting men and women. The best of the best.
. . . the greatest navy anywhere -- extremely thankful for these kids! (US Army Vietnam vet)
Which years did you serve in Vietnam?
These men & women deserve good food on Thanksgiving as they defend our country...
Robert DeFrank spent Thanksgiving and Christmas on deployment. They really put out all the very best food for those holidays.
that's great to know....
God bless and protect our sailors! May our enemies shudder when an aircraft carrier group shows off their coast!
