I agree with others that we wanted to keep Sharon's character in our lives. I was shocked that the writers didn't see fit to bring Brenda Lee's appearance at Sharon's funeral. I don't even remember seeing Fritz at Sharon's funeral. Kinda makes me think there were fights between writers, directors and those in charge of how the show was going to end.
I heard Brenda was suppose to return but she was doing other project during the last couple of episode on the final season. I might be wrong I’m not sure if it was just rumor
One of the most underrated fumbles of tv history. For a show that had built this story for over 10 years, and had worked with Mary McDonnell for almost as long… how could they have totally ruined her character arc like that within the final few episodes, which in turn led to one of the most underwhelming series finales of recent memory. Mary McDonnell is a phenomenal actress, and Sharon Raydor was an incredibly written and portrayed character. To throw that all away for a cheap shock by killing her off a few episodes before the finale, to me, served no purpose. 6 years later and I’m still bitter over it. No clue what any of those writers or producers were thinking.
I hate that the show messed with Sharon's health in the final season which led to her death. The whole thing felt pointless, even more so when her team and her adoptive son ended up betraying the very values she held dear.
Man if they were going to kill her off it should have unfortunately ended in a murder and Brenda should have come back and got a confession and that’s how it should have ended
The entire season 6 seems pointless to me. The barely acknowledged the wedding and her cardiomyopathy which they could have made an impact with awareness. Instead they dragged out murders. This episode/episodes broke my heart and brought back some really painful memories. No matter the terminal illness, show's like this could have done so much better in highlighting certain medical conditions. Disappointed and outraged doesn't begin to cover how I feel. I'm not in the US but were the rating's for major crimes that poor that it justified cancelling it? I mean, Mary McDonnell was magnificent in the closer hence why the spin off that was major crimes or am I completely mistaken My wife and I found this show accidentally the night of our engagement (my own health issues prevented us from having, let's say, an alternative night 😉) but it was the best show but I stopped watching it at the end of 2015 as my then fiance was sick only later to be diagnosed as terminal on new Year's day. She died 8weeks and 2 day's after our wedding. It's been nearly 6 year's since she died and I am now only bringing myself to watch it again.
I have seen this episode at least 5 times and it makes me cry everytime.
