So, the ink is what determines the fabric that you can sublimate on? I’m just getting started, but prefer 100% over polyester, but didn’t think you could do that without chemically treating the material first. Thanks for the informative video:)
Thanks for the video, I'am glad I found this one as he uses Vinyl master DSR software , makes my choice easier in buying the sawgrass SG1000 from US cutter where I got my vinyl cutter from
Are the print heads part of the respective ink cartridge? The waste container, is that just emptied or do you have buy a new one? How long does it last?
The print heads are separate from the ink cartridges and are not made for replacement. The waste container is disposed of and replaced with a new one. With my personal printer at home, I have to change the waste ink tank about every 8 months.
Is it a good idea to switch out ink cartridges based on the material you’ll be using...for example 100% cotton? Or is best to use the Siser easy subli for cotton and polyester?
You do not swap out inks for different types of materials. The printer will still have ink in the lines and you risk really messing up the printer and will void your warranty as well. If the main thing you plan on doing is clothing, then the Easy Subli would be the better option. I personally do a lot more hard surface designs, so I went with the normal sublimation ink for my printer.
Are you wanting to create transfers for cotton using your sublimation printer? If you plan on doing this, then you want to use the Siser Easy Subli Inks with the Siser easy subli paper.

hi my colors are NOT being processed right... when i print out a black image is turns green, and the red imagesi print are light red/orange tint. please help !!!

If you buy the tray bypass for the SG500, will you be able to print a bigger image? If so, how big? I have the printer in my cart but was wondering if I should buy the bypass tray too
8.5 in x 51 is the maximum media size for the SG500 with media tray. If you would like to compare it with the SG1000 I put a chart up at this point in the video - ruclips.net/video/QPt39Dvwq1A/видео.html
I don't have that answer because it depends on what size cartridge you purchase, what type of media, what type of print settings, substrate, image type, and quality.
SG400 is the older model they don't make anymore but it is a great machine for a novice. TBH all Sawgrass printers are good for novice users because of the Saw Grass Print Manager.
I would buy one if I could refill the ink cartriges otherwise I know from experience you run out of ink real fast and the cost of new cartriges is ridiculous.
I will tell you all, that in retrospect, I wish to h3ll I would've just converted an Epson. This SG500 is crap and I can't get a decent print to save my life. I have wasted about 1/4 of my $500 roll of EasySubi, 15 T-shirts and I don't even want to try and GUESS how much ink. I spent an hour on the phone with Conde (they sold me the EasySubli) going over all my settings and I am now going back and forth with Sawgrass because I want my money back. This is a $600 piece of junk. To make matters WORSE: ALL YOU NEED TO DO TO CONVERT AN EPSON ECOTANK IS TO USE SUBLIMATION INK!!! Nothing special needs to be done!

It only works with items designed for sublimation ink. You could try to use it with inkjet heat transfer papers but you would have some color issues.
