- Welcome to Crash Course Games! In this series our host Andre Meadows is going to discuss the history and science of games. We’re going to talk about video games of course, but also board games, role playing games, card games, even sports! But before we get ahead of ourselves we are going to look at what a game actually is, who is playing these games, and what they are doing to us. It turns out these answers aren’t as obvious as they would seem, but one thing is definitely clear: games make up a huge portion of most peoples’ lives, and we think that can be a great thing!

No Chris Stuckmann and Angry joe please. They are fun to watch, but they can't really tell the differences between subjective and objective. Also they like to heavily shame stuff they don't like, in my opininon that is.

You forgot to mention that with the Corrupted Blood incident players actually helped each other using healing powers and potions. Also Blizzard issued a voluntary quarantine, once that failed they had to restart the servers (the nuclear option).

I can vouch for Tetris for it's involvement in PTSD. As a sufferer, it caused me to place matters in perspective without consequences. It's hard to explain, but I'm doing much better! This Crash Course rocks and I'm looking forward to more about gaming.

This series has potential, and I really hope they don't blow it. Treating video games with the respect they deserve and avoiding resorting to clichés can be a challenge-but if anyone can do it, it's the crash course team!
Looking forward to watching this! Kinda wish it was longer than 20 weeks, but at least there will certainly be enough content for a second season if they want to do it next year.

A bit more info on the World of Warcraft plague segment. The way it got out of the designated quest area in the first place was that there was a bug in the code of the "virus" that allowed any pets or minions you had to carry the virus outside its designated area. Additionally, NPCs (non-player characters) could contract it too, and here's the kicker: they were asymptomatic and couldn't die from the "disease". So you might be going about your business, completing a quest and interacting with NPCs in order to complete objectives, and all of a sudden you come down with Corrupted Blood. Oh, and the virus had a 100% infection rate, so any contact at all that you had with an infected NPC or player, you were basically a dead man walking.
+argella1300 Wow, so there was a bug in the code that caused it to actually behave more like a real-world virus? That's awesome!
+Henric von Winklebottom basically, yeah. Though in real life, you obviously wouldn't have a 100% chance of getting the virus every single time. In 2008, WoW had an event that was based on the Cursed Blood plague, but the users were turned into zombies but they reduced the chances so that if you ran into a single zombie, your chances of getting infected were pretty low, but they scaled up the odds for larger groups.
I thought this would suck. I was wrong. Well done guys.
