Another amp that sounds good with the same mod is the danelectro honeytone. Turn the gain all the way down the volume all the way up and set the tone where ever. I run mine through a webber sig10 its my don't wake up the neighborhoods amp.
This sounds awesome!. I just bought a newer one. It sounds very thin and like the batteries are dying. I tried two new sets of batteries but it still sounds like crap. Any ideas?
Can anyone please tell me if it will do any damage to a pig nose if I put an on/off kill switch on the speaker? My ideas just to wire it in directly before the speaker where the wires connect to it, reason being that I like to use it as a preamp but don't always want both speakers to play and I'd like to be able to silence it out will but not always that's why I don't want to put kill switch Jack or whatever it's actually called where you plug in it automatically kills the speaker like on my tube amp. I know on a too bad that switching off the speaker or just connecting it is very bad news if you accidentally run the thing without a speaker load so I want to make sure that it won't destroy the pig knows to run it as a preamp with the speaker off or if I accidentally plug in and try to turn it on but the speaker is turned off. If anyone could give me a couple pointers on this I would be very grateful.
I have a fender mini tone master. The tone is weak at high levels and breaks up easy. Solution...run it through an aux jack on a bluetooth speaker. Funny how a different speaker can make or break a small amp.
@@2bcmusic hi Chuck the link to the mod is no longer there. Is there another place you could post it? I'm dying to try this on my pignose and can't find info anywhere on this mod. Thanks!
Okay, help me out here. The line out that comes with the 7-100 is low level signal of the 7-100 actual output meant to be sent to an amplifier/board (Is it too low to use for direct input to AD box for recording into a DAW?). This external jack allows the 7-100 to be the amplifier/head for external cab?
Fezzler61 Line level is a shorthand way of saying the signal is going to be AROUND a particular level (-10dB in your DAW or ~0.3Vrms measured with a multimeter). It's been amplified so it's no longer at instrument level, but it's not beefy enough to drive a speaker with out power amplification. For your purposes in recording, it'll be great. Just make sure you configure your audio interface to expect the line level input.
I use on of these little chaps for blues harp and I absolutely love it
yep, that's correct. The preamp output jack is used to send audio to an external amplifier or PA system, it can't drive a speaker.
It is an 8 ohm cab. The Pignose has a transformer output, and designed to drive only 8 ohm tiotal impedance

Nice North Mississippi All-Stars sounds there.

Sounds like you need to use >=1A 9v dc adapter for your Pignose
That was great!
a friend of mine has one of those amps, there's an external jack on the back coming from the preamp
Sounds like it’s breaking up.
Man I wonder if it would good to use this as a preamp into an amp or into the FX loop of an amp bypassing the amp’s preamp. Swampy fuzz amp.
The stock Pignose has a preamp out jack on the back for just this purpose. The jack I added is for an external speaker.
You should try making a it with a line out , to run into a board and PA.
The Pignose already has a line out on the rear panel.

Great instructions on Instructables. Can this mod be used as a headphone socket instead of an external speaker connection?
Is that a speaker cable?
You did NOT say how you did the (mod) of running an external cab????
Check out Instructables for a full description.
@@2bcmusic Looks like it was pulled from Instructables.
@@MicahGoldstein hmmm, ok. I guess because I haven't logged in in a long while
Bigger speaker bigger cabinet.. any surprises? .
Try a bit bigger fender amp? . Fun. Try a sock in front of the big speaker
Just checked the instructables website and the link isn’t working anymore. Any chance there is another place to find detailed instructions? Thanks!
Nice, I dig it!

The speaker is a critical part of any amp, and can make or break even a big amp!
I'm a little late to the party here. But is the pignose driving the 12 with battery power? Or are you plugged in the wall?
Battery power

@@TheRiotguitar I'll check that out and let you know.
@@2bcmusic thanks so much!
What's the impedance of the external speaker cab that you used? Thanks!
can you give me instructions?

It is a line level signal, so it should work.
So as Line Level it is one consistent volume whereas the mod line can be adjusted via the volume knob?

Top left corner brass loose
sorry..but it's a useless amp to me.. tons of $100 amps are better than this.. buzzy as hell.. can't stand fuzzes
The fact YOU don’t like it and as you said don’t like fuzz, makes this comment totally useless, not the amp
