  • Time to run the tamiya xv01 on a 3s lipo! I have the traxxas velenion vxl-3s power system from my slash installed. Sadly only one of the runs recorded speed.

I was contemplating about making my XV-01 water resistant for the coming winter, I was thinking about swapping my 10.5T sensored to a HW MAX10 60A system with a 4000kv motor and picking up a 3s battery, once I get some 14 gauge wire and some 3.5 bullets so I can extend it, but this kinda makes me wanna stick with 2s lol. Good vid 👍

Thanks, if you run 3s I’d get the slipper clutch or metal gears if possible. 4000kv on 3s will make it literally take off! 😂👍

@@TrekRC 🤦‍♂️Forgot I put a slipper in mine haha, I heard it's supposed to protect those (idler?) gears that you damaged. I want to get metal diff gears atleast for the front before I go 3s though, now that I remembered I've got a slipper
      😂

Haha, I might have to get a slipper if I use 3s again. I might just stick with 2s though.

@@TrekRC 2s and a nice high torque motor is all you need for dirt I'd say, but I wanna put some street tires and a 3s battery just to rip it around on the street, hopping off curbs and all that - if that goes all well I'll probably run 3s and under gear it for acceleration on dirt, will see

The xv01 is meant as brushed platform, compared to the xv02, tha can be used brushless with no issuem I do not suggest to go 3s brushless on this poor thing, it is an amazing scale racing car and offorad perform like no other but keep the poor thing brushed or brushless on 2s and not extreme punch! I still bash mine and on btuhsless i have been experienced lots of malfuncion and breakage compared to brushed (siper stock, gear ratio 21/68). The belt driven drivetrain is not the most resistent but guarantees a smoothness and quiteness like no other!

Do you happen to have the part numbers for those 2 gears that need replacing?

Too much power. I had exactly the same Problem on 2S after a while. You can upgrade the XV-01 with a slipper (Tamiya 54378), to avoid this in future.

Yes definitely a worthy upgrade for some extra durability 👍
