Joe Douglas has ALL the leverage. Reddick’s the one racking up fines, & he’s not 25 or 26 anymore, Father Time is undefeated. The Front Office is winning this battle, plain & simple.
The truth? The Jets want Reddick, but Reddick needs the Jets. He can’t play for any other team until he fulfills the contract HE signed & the Jets traded for. Joe Douglas is playing chess while Reddick’s team is stuck playing checkers.
That’s the reality. F*** who’s right or wrong-Douglas knows it, the Front Office knows it, & deep down, Reddick knows it too. The Jets control the board.
Reddick can turn in his papers, and teams will have interest in him next year when he can take it back. If the Jets are bad again, Joe Douglas is calling his friends around the league about getting him a scouting job.

Jets do not want him next year . They are looking at this year and he is cheap so they picked him up.
Reddick said he would show up at camp, then backed out. Jets said they would not negotiate unless he showed up at camp + they haven't negotiated. Reddick's agent screwed his client by not advising him to "hold in", and opened negotiations with Jets. This is more about the Agent's ego and bad advice. If Reddick did a "hold in" he would get paid and the team would be negotiating with him.

Why did the jets traded Bryce huff for reddick is the real question
They didn't trade Huff for Reddick. Huff was a free agency signing and then a couple of weeks later the Eagles traded Reddick to the Jets for a 3rd round pick.

He seems to want more than what they agreed on because other players are getting it and he is not happy with his pay. The Jets don't have to give in.
Why trade for someone that wanted a new deal with his old team. You trade for him, then what? Chicago did the same thing, and had a new deal ready to go once they traded for the Washington DE.

Reddick was the eagles best player on defense the last two years , he deserves to get paid and the jets should’ve never traded for him if they weren’t going to pay for him

Is the number of cases where players demand new deals while still under contract increasing or is it about the same. And are agents getting worse at handling things?
I’m not sure about the numbers, whether there is more of that now or not… but it’s definitely true that the salary cap has been increasing so much as the nfl adds more games and revenue streams, so contracts are looking obsolete sooner and sooner
Robert Saleh is 18 - 33 and the offense is offensive to watch. If they dont get into the playoffs he will be JETtisoned. Good DC terrible HC.
What leverage does Reddick have though?
The Jets have several elite young players coming through that need paying in the next 1/2 years, why would we pay an aging pass rusher.
For what it's worth, iv heard they had an agreement that Reddick would play the season. Then the Jets traded JFM and Reddick changed his mind.
Who is going to pay a 30 year old pass rusher elite money if he wilfully misses the entire season? The Jets traded a 2026 3rd round pick, if they wanted him, any team could have traded slightly more.

Thing is , the Jets KNEW Hassan wanted a new contract BEFORE they traded for him. Why make the trade if you didn't already have a contract in the making ???
Supposedly he agreed with the trade knowing that there wasn't a deal on the table but he saw the jets weakened the roster depth in that position and decided he had leverage....

Reddick never wanted to leave Philly, but both sides were clear that he was not going to get his desired contract there with all the other guys they were paying. Once Philly signed Huff, it was a matter of time Reddick was moved. This HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT THE MONEY and Jets traded for him without a contract on board. Bad business by Joe Douglas and his staff.
