The recipe and the video are not in sync. The video says this is a white cake. However the cake recipe indicates that coconut is in the cake. The video says coconut is in the frosting but the frosting recipe does not list coconut.
In the South, most use coconuts and finely chopped pecans in the cake batter mix. 😳 I've had people who don't like coconut, try this cake, and ask for more. LOL 😂.
Exactly 💯 Otherwise its a yellow cake with pecan frosting Italian cream cakes hv coconut and pecans in the batter with rum and amaretto flavor It looks delicious though.
While the Italian Cream Cake has its roots in renaissance Italy, the first written record of it is first seen in Canada in 1913. It is not until 1937 that the first recipe of Italian Cream Cake surfaces in the Plano News from Texas.
I love your batter. Nice presentation I've nvr seen an Italian cake made this way. I thought pecans and coconut go in the batter. No shade. I'm just curious 🤔
cream cheese icing is 1 8oz cream cheese, 1 stick of butter, both room temperature, cream together, add 1 lb or more of powdered sugar, add vanilla, or almond extract for the flavoring, the icing tastes better if you toast your pecans and coconut first before adding to the frosting, you can either mix it in with frosting or add after you have frosted the cake
@@flowforever9084 You missed the point. It is NOT the Southern way to pronounce it "pee-can." You can pronounce it any way that you want, but will not be Southern.
It's time you realized, that a young beautiful, classy woman like that is not going to be attracted to an old(ish) man who throws out comments suggesting his sexual interest on a recipe video. It's gross, and embarrasing for the audience. Speaking as a woman, anyway. I imagine there are other men as deluded, who feel it's appropriate, and that they might 'have a shot' too. It isn't, and they don't. Young women who welcome sexual interest from strange men three age-groups above them, usually have a pecuniary reason and are pretty easy to spot. How you could confuse this person as one of them is a mystery. Or is it a macho thrill to accost the unsuspecting? Ugh & shudder.
Got my 1st Southern Living Cookbook in 1984. Really pleased to see their recipes on RUclips, because they are always the best!
In my Southern experience which is my entire life spent in the South, I have never seen an Italian cream cake without coconut!

Kieran Sartor me either
in ny we use nuts
I agree!! In Alabama, we use coconuts and pecans in the cake batter mix.😳
Facts
This is a helpful video. The weights of the various ingredients would be really good to have.

italian cream is more of a 'dad's birthday in july' than a christmas cake for me

Looks so yummy 😋 😍 Gonna make this for a friend birthday 🎉wish me luck
An Italian baker in Texas came up with the recipe so I think that is why it is called Italian cream cake
I love your batter. Nice presentation

In the thumbnail it looks like a cheese wheel lol
Best cakes come from Southern Living Cook Books n magazine's.
Is there a video for the cream cheese frosting? Thanks.

the Italian Cream Cake also has coconut and the pecans in the cake mix
I enjoyed the video and the cake batter recipe, but how can you forget to include the frosting recipe? That’s half the cake lol
The frosting recipe is linked in the cake recipe.
Being a bonafide Southerner, I must ask. Where's the coconut!? It's not southern soulfood without it!
IKR
had this cake at a luncheon yesterday, very delicious. However, I dont see the recipe for the frosting
Hi Melinda! So glad to hear you liked the cake. Here is the recipe to the frosting: www.southernliving.com/syndication/nutty-cream-cheese-frosting
Look up on Southern Living website Nutty Cream Cheese Frosting
My mother made this cake with grape jelly between the layers. It had to be refrigerated for 24 hours. Wonderful.
I love a jelly cake. I thought that we made it that way bc we were poor....lol 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Publix use to make delicious jelly cake.
Dammit why didn't they demonstrate the frosting as well?
Can i make this in two 8 inch pans?
good video. Is it possible to list the ingredients in weight? Cups are different sizes and its difficult knowing which size?
I agree, we call this a cream cheese cake in Eastern N.C.
You forgot the coconut
was there coconut in the cake or frosting only?
How can you represent Southern Living and say "PEE-cans" like a Northerner? The correct pronouciation is "puh-CAHNS."
Actually its pronounced both ways. We looked it up, bc I had the same argument with southerners....lol 😆 🤣 😂
To our surprise either way

💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚
LInked printed recipe calls for 1 c flaked coconut to be added to the cake batter, unlike the video.
I was enjoying this video. Until she said pecan as peecan.
Amen.
She is from Georgia. That's the only "non-southern" thing about Georgia, the way they say "pee-can."
Sewww seasonal
I hate this type of music it’s annoying
Any recipe video with music can be greatly improved by removing the music, lol. And a human face, for the most part (this case excepted : ).
ALL I’D LIKE TO KNOW IS, ARE U MARRIED
