      You just brought up beautiful memories. I discovered the Suzuki method when my oldest daughter was 2-1/2 years old and was so delighted she could start lessons. We jumped into that method, going through the books, attending play-throughs, week-long conferences, until she was in high school. As you know, in the Suzuki method parents are deeply involved. I even created lyrics for two of Bach's Minuets to help the pre-school group learn them before they could even read music.Vivaldi was my favorite composer.

    Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 - 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque musical composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, and priest. Born in Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He composed many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons.
    Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children where Vivaldi (who had been ordained as a Catholic priest) was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for preferment. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died, in poverty, less than a year later.

      Not many people know this, but Charles VI (Austrian Emperor) enticed Vivaldi to move to Vienna late in his life...unfortunately he didn't have the success in Vienna he'd hoped for and died shortly thereafter. He was buried next to Karlskirche, but his grave was destroyed when they built the technical university. His remains were lost in the process. There is, however, a wonderful memorial in his honor located behind the Votivkirche...but Vivaldi plays "second fiddle" (pun intended) to just about every other Viennese musician in terms of historical homage.

    For anyone wondering about the picture;
    The voice of the one who cries in the wilderness: "Prepare Ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths." (Gospel according to Mark 1:1-3)
    Saint Mark, who is represented as the winged lion, is a Christian iconography from the book of revelations.
    The winged being is one of the four creatures surrounding the throne of the "almighty" (God). They are the symbols of the four evangelists.
    These other worldly beings were described by the prophet Ezekiel.
    "The lion also symbolizes the power of the Evangelist's word. T
    he wings symbolize the elevation of the sprit. And the halo is the Christian (along with many other religions') symbol of holiness.
    FYI:
    Before anyone tries to attack me for my religious views, please know I read everything I can. I will not state what exactly my religious views are, I may be Cristian, I may be Catholic, I may be Muslim, I may be Jewish, I may be an atheist, but I will not say. I am just posting this for anyone who wants to know about the picture.

    I have about zero knowledge on music. I can't play the piano, violin, guitar, whatever it is, I'm not made for them. But this speaks to me so much. Classical music is so moving and sometimes I felt bad when I say I like classical music because it feels like an art that I indulge in but not understand. I always worry that whenever I say I like classical music, people would start asking me some questions about a particular piece and I'd go "Errr." because I simply enjoy it without knowing at all how it is composed. It's soothing, profound, and uplifting.

You absolutely do not need intimate knowledge of a topic to be a "real" fan of it - it clearly brings you a lot of joy, and that's all that really matters! Learning more about the background and minutiae can certainly give historical context, but it's by no means necessary to enjoy it for what it is ☺️

It can reform a vision/idea...manipulate or alter the original source given in its own individualistic way, (as we are all individuals), but the original conception can never come from man alone. Just my theory. Not stating this as if it is law, but I do believe it.

      Very slim chance that it would be of benefit for a music lover to magically appear in that time. Any given person living during the baroque period would be very unlikely to ever enjoy this music, since only the absolute elite (and their nearest servants) would have the chance. Urban elite settings in only the very few, most culturally evolved, cities of Europe (usually the ones with the most powerful royal halls) at that. Similar melodies, in a crude form, could be enjoyed in folk music, since composers has always been inspired by folk music. We are in the best of times to enjoy this music. call me a modern phillistine but vivaldi is one of my favorite classical composers because he operates in a style that includes lots of really active *rhythm* and bounce to his fancy art music
    it just makes it so tuneful and joyous compared to a lot of later developments in the classical and romantic periods.

Vivaldi knew how to send the feelings from the ears straight to the heart. Everytime I listen to the second movement of his works, the beauty pierces my heart like a sword. I can't take the whole beauty inside my heart. I usually have to pause the video for sometime to breathe. Such a beauty and emotions Vivaldi's concertos have.
