Dakshinamurti yagam in Sri Premananda Ashram on Guru Poornima

Dakshinamurti is considered to have been the very first guru, or spiritual master, come to teach humanity several tens of thousands of years ago. He is believed to have been an incarnation of Lord Shiva. That is why, on Guru Poornima, the day to honour our spiritual teachers, we perform a Vedic fire ritual to invoke the blessings of Dakshinamurti as well as our own spiritual master, Swami Premananda.
