Hi Andrew. I was pleased your condo was not damaged before, but now you have hurricane Milton! We are beginning to plan out our itinerary for Malaysia 2025. I'm sure we will be able to meet up whilst we are there. Take care x
Good morning Taylor Thanks for the kind words about Malaysia 🇲🇾 Well, Malaysia is not a perfect place but it's almost there.. Anyways, we are grateful for no issues or disasters like earthquakes, volcano eruptions, tsunamis, and typhoons.. And the people are decent and friendly.. It's a blessing to live in Malaysia 🇲🇾 🌺 🥰
Malaysian temperatures ranges from 27- 34 Celsius. We seldom go outdoor under the hot sun and mostly stay in air conditioned room. I think that’s quite comfortable if you don’t go outdoor under the hot sun in the noon.
Hi Taylor, we are Malaysians been living in South FL since 2009. We are excited to know you are living in Malaysia because starting Summer next year we (my wife and two teens) will be migrating back to Msia. Moving far away from home has always a challenge.
@@andrewtaylor4558US will reduce interest rate, dollar will drop further. Ringgit will back to 3.8 exchange rate or much lower in long run. Better to sell the property
That long distance from home is why SEA is the best area for us in Australia. Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur approx 7.40 hours 😊 I like Costa Rica and Romania but way too far from home to settle. You've probably discussed why central and south America are not for you.
100% agree! Insurance never seems to cover anything. I once got engine insurance to cover my car's engine and I thought I was so lucky to have it when my engine broke down. Turns out there was some small print saying it wasn't covered because it broke due to spark plugs which were not covered. What a rip off!
I live in Florida, on the Gulf Coast. I am sick of hurricanes. I was thinking of moving to NC but that place got it even worse!! So now I am rethinking my plans. I have looked at Panama as an alternative home, and travel all over. Keeping a home in Florida is a big risk.

Hi Taylor! The winter of 2014 - 15 in Eastern Massachusetts was truly frightening, and it started me thinking about leaving the area eventually. Thank God I was able to do that: I now live in sunny southern Spain. Nowhere is safe from climate change, but we don't yet get slammed with disasters here in Spain the way the US routinely does, thank God.
Hi, so relieved that your condo is ok. Liz and Phil’s house is also ok. I have looked at the videos of the Gulf beaches. I could see that there are piles of people’s belongings, furniture, etc. next to the street. And the sand is incredible. I think our Mom’s former house probably is ok, with main damage on ground level. The deck and pool are probably destroyed along with the beautiful landscaping. There undoubtedly was flooding on the ground level but I expect that the upstairs is ok. Wishing the best for the current owners. We were so fortunate to live in that beautiful place which our mother built and took such good care of.
ohhh Andrew - I really and fully understand the sadness about not being able to be there, in your own country at important times. As an Australian living in California I have the same feelings and frustrations not able to attend my granddaughters wedding - AND when the big fires were happening.... omg! I couldn't stay in touch with everybody enough!
Unless you plan to return to Florida, and of course I don’t know your situation, sell your condo!! Of course you have to wait till the rentals contract is finished. I also decided to rent out my place when I was in another country, but it didn’t work as well as I thought, even though I hired a property manager because the rental people that had a problem in their marriage and moved out early without giving notice At the time, I didn’t feel like having to approve another rental people so I decided to sell. It was the right decision at that time.
Hey, Taylor! What a great video. I don't think people really factor those family & disaster events into their decision to live/retire far afield. I'm currently in KL doing some health screening check ups. I did an opthamologist appointment & discovered that I have a cataract so, will be considering eye surgery in the next couple of weeks. Currently, I am doing dentist visits for a root canal & a new crown; fun, huh? Don't you just hate it when real life starts to interfere with the good life? Oct 30 is my 10 year anniversary of the day I started this full time travel adventure. I predict that I will still be here in KL on that date as I don't want to proceed with the eye surgery until the root canal & crown are completed. I do think that a glass of champagne or, at the very least, a mimosa is in the plans to celebrate this epic anniversary. As always, I'm looking forward to your next video. Yvonne.
Earnest prayers continue to flow for the protection, guidance and solace of every one affected by Hurricane Helene, but thank God, you are all right. It can be a genuine hassle to maintain even another nearby property, let alone childhood properties on the other side of the world- so you are very blessed to have such a great and loving sister, looking out for your properties. Thanks for your informative take on things. Godspeed!
I live in South Florida and the only thing that is as scary as the ever frequent hurricanes is the skyrocketing cost of insurance! Soon only the very rich will be able to afford to own a home here.
Lucky for you it's a cat 3 not 5. We went through cat 4 and 5 hurricane in SXM Caribbean Gonzalo and Irma. That was total destruction. I remember hiding in bathroom while balcony window being sucked out. If we had been in the living room we'd be sucked out with the rest of furniture. I think you will be alright.
Hurricane milton is even worse than helene. It is cat 5 as of 3pm est, winds are 175mph and is headed to central florida. It is the 4th strongest hurricane in atlantic history. Good luck with your property.
Thanks for a great video. I also worry about leaving property behind and who will watch over it. Sometimes i wonder when i retire to Malaysia, will i still need a US base. Glad to hear your condo is OK. And yes, climate change is real! lol
Andrew, I heard that the hurricane Heline is cat 5 now and is heading to Tampa, FL. Do you have anybody close there? I hope they can evacuate before it hits as it's gonna be a huge mess...
Hurricane Helene was truly devastating, so glad to hear your place was spared. My thoughts do go out to those whose lives were impacted. As I weigh my options about overseas retirement, I'm undecided if I would keep my house in the US or not. The mortgage won't be paid off for 15+ years, there's still taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs, and management to pay for. Once those are addressed, there isn't much left to profit from. It seems more trouble than its worth. We'll see what I decide on.
Another thing to think about is if you plan to bring to rent it out, there can be trouble with renters. I had it seemed the perfect rentals, but then they moved out without notice because they were having trouble with their marriage.
This particular region in south east asia really is God’s favourite isles. The surrounding areas are inside the ring of fire but not malaysia. Well, not for a few hundreds of years at least
By pure coincidence, we faxed our ballots to our election office in Florida, and less than an hour later watched this video! I'm glad your condo was spared in the first hurricane and hope it's still okay after the second one hit. Take care.
Taylor, or should I say Andrew, our household are big fans of your channel. Especially me. We've lived on Maui the last nearly 12 years but I'm hankering for your neck of the woods. My biggest concern is health care insurance because I'm about a seven-year cycle older than you, although I've done yoga for over 50 years and have been at least vegetarian for the same amount of time. My health is generally good but as you know, Father Time is undefeated, and where we're all headed is inevitable. So, just wondering, can't I just get international insurance before I come and keep that if I move there, because I've seen you saying if you're over 70, forget getting it there. Take care my friend and wishing you good health and spirit, I'll look you up when I get there, if we make it.
Seems like the US is prone to natural disasters. Hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires are becoming common these days. What's worse is that people who are affected by these disasters only receive a one-time payment of $700 by the US government which is like a drop in the bucket.
Hi Taylor, my thoughts are with everyone in the path of Helene. It seems to have been very destructive. I agree also re the importance of voting. Read the campaign dosier for ea candidate and cast your vote!
Yikes! You may have gotten a much higher price for that condo before that hurricane came around.. Nothing like natural disasters in any area that reduces the market prices there.. Maybe you ought to wait a bit until the prices go up again before you sell it.. but then again, the uncertainty is always there. Wish you all the best.

Congratulations on having your MM2H Visa grandfathered. I have a question. Does everyone who has currently a MM2H visa also eligible to have their visa grandfathered?
Hi Taylor! Sorry to hear about your childhood home being damaged from Helene. Glad your condo wasn't, but I remember watching your other video of that dreadful black mold, yikes! I also see how being far away from the US can be difficult in many ways. Airfare is $$$, especially last minute and holiday /personal dinners and such have to be cast aside for the life of the Expat. The give and take in that probably seems like it is "taking" more than "giving" sometimes. Something I have thought of as a future Expat regarding property is contracting with a property management agency to oversee a rental for my mom's house (to be my own someday) to rent out as I relocate overseas. However there are costs to that, making it less easy to make a profit, but I might sell it and sink the income from that into an retirement IRA. Who knows. 🙂
Some many years ago, I had a property manager for a rental since I was living in another country, it seemed to go fine for a year, but then the couple had a divorce and left without giving notice. I ended up after much thought selling the house., to me it wasn’t worth the worry.
Malaysia have a typical problems year in year out, FLASH FLOOD. It's not extreme in any way, but it very frequent happen in the cities. Recently, the pattern are very unpredictable, probably because of climate change. Watch out for 3 or 4 hours constant heavy rain.
Hi Taylor. I would not have given myself the "Jeff The Weatherman" RUclips handle if I did not let you know that a Tropical Storm named Milton (expected to be upgraded to a hurricane by Monday) is focused on the Clearwater /Tampa area by Wednesday (US Time) as maybe a CAT 3+. I have followed my trusted weather models and all seem to track it just a tad south if not directly over the Clearwater / Tampa area. Not to be alarming you, but just wanted to let you know, if you have not been informed otherwise, regarding a potential impact to your condo. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will pass further south and way from a major city. 🤞
Good to hear your apartment is not affected by the hurricane. As for climate change, it is changing and has been changing since the existence of planet earth. Now whether the changes are driven by nature or whether humanity has any effect on climate change, that’s debatable, I guess. As many opinions, as there are people. 😊

😢
Thought you mentioned in previous video tenants bought your condo with seller financing, and you no longer own property in US, I’m now confused.
The deal fell through 🥲
There's another hurricane coming 😅 what's going to happen our world..😅

Get rid of the dum condo - it's just a stressor.
I plan to.
🇲🇾🤝😃✌️👍❤️
Good to hear your apartment is not affected by the hurricane. As for climate change, it is changing and has been changing since the existence of planet earth. Now whether the changes are driven by nature or whether humanity has any effect on climate change, that’s debatable, I guess. As many opinions, as there are people. 😊
If malysiacis forever ..mm2h renewal etc how long update please ..does it ever expire or continual renewal ?

He's voting to Make America Great Again!
He’s not a dumbass. He’s intelligent, well educated and a decent human being who’s not a racist or racist sympathizer. Hence, he definitely won’t be voting for Trump and the racists.
Nope, he is not.
The best way to achieve that is by NOT voting for a felon.
Did you at least sent a wedding gift to your niece?
