You are the absolute “man” when it comes to this. However, while you don’t need it because your seams are so good, as a noob I have found you can sand down Kwik Seal with 1000 grit sandpaper and it makes it very smooth prior to applying your base/primer coat (bounce, mod podge, etc). Thank you for your videos. They are insanely helpful!
I'm a newbie to eva foam makes. But every search I do on RUclips for how to's inevitably brings me back to YOUR channel for the definitive trick or technique. Thanks Ted. [found you through Adam Savage on tested]. Am I subscribed to your channel? I'm joined with contact adhesive, cheers.
I just wanted to say thank you for all these great foam videos. Your instructions and tips are all very clear! I've watched a lot of foam videos but they always go too fast and confuse me but yours are so awesome and helpful!!!
I have been watching videos off and on for the past three weeks (I am a beginner in this) And I must say that you are the best I have seen on here !!! You explain the processes so clear, concise, straight to the point. Not cluttered with a bunch of excess talking and nonsense 😁 Your work is awesome and flawless!! Thank you so much for teaching your techniques. I am subscribed and definitely a fan
what i really like about these videos, besides the great information, is the fact that the mundane bullshit is skipped. a lot of guys would make this an hour long video, showing you in real time literally paint drying.
Ted. I have practiced your build a helmet out of foam, 1-2-3 and it was very helpful. I have made steel armor for film before and specialize in leather. I thought I would let you know I have written this up in a 5 day 90 min a session lesson plans. hopefully if kids sign up I will be teaching this for free at a children's art workshop. 12 years of age to 18.. This should be fun. You inspired me to move to foam and not steel. saved me hours, my ears and loads of sweat. every kid i show will have a power point featuring you, and the links will be shared with them. I am spreading your love.
I absolutely love these videos, they're so informative and I learn from each one. What I personally would love to see is more 'basic' armor pieces. Your helmet, shoulder, and gauntlet were amazing - I would love more. Like a chest piece, boots, etc. Thank you!
I downloaded a Deadpool mask and was able to construct the mask. I had some problems with the seams being a little too obvious for my tastes. I watched how you fill your seams with Quickdry Silicon. I still wasn't pleased with the results. Then a guy from the U.K. turned me onto Smooth On products. I have to say, The XTC-3D product, took my mask to a whole new level. I did a test run with the product on some scrap foam. It came out beautiful. This stuff fills seams and you can put it on thin with some alcohol or just put it on as thick as you want. It is a semi-rigid Urethane which is designed to go on top of 3D printables. This stuff sands beautifully. I am so very pleased with all of the information you and your compatriots have provided. All I can say is Thank you, Thank You, Thank You.
thanks for making this, its fantastic to find someone who mentions even the most basic things that is easy to take for grantet (like how the adhesive works)
I'm doing a Midna helm for my next cosplay and I didn't know how to hid the seams on the main piece and made did this video help. Thank you so much for this video all of them have help led me out so much. :)
The thickness of the glue was definitely the problem with my first helmet. The glue ended up pulling apart and making a huge seam because there was simply too much of it. I'm really glad you ended up making a video on this topic specifically. I would also like to give you a general thank you for being so helpful to all who watch and comment on your videos. You are the best at what you do and seem to be extremely dedicated to your supporters. Keep it up! :)
Found your channel today and so glad I did. Now I can make a start on the fantasy armour I've promised my hubby. Brilliant and informative vids. Now the fun can begin finding UK equivilents to some of the things you use. Thank you!
starting my halo odst armour and helmet, can't thank you enough! while I'm experienced in sheet styrene, MDF, foam, airbrushing and brush painting of all sorts, the foam as structure was totally new to me. while cheap, you still don't wanna put in hours of work while making glaring mistakes. your videos really help with getting down the basics by example
I'm just getting into the craft for the sake of making a Halloween costume for my daughter (trying for a fairly simple Samus Aran suit) and I'm really glad to have found your channel. Thank you for this!
I'm going to be making some TRON program armor and integrating EL tape elements! Your foam armor tutorials are super awesome and I start work on my project tomorrow. You and Bill Doran are great! Thank you so much, Ted.
The video was great, thank you. I'm a total neophyte and I know where to get patterns for what I want to make (Destiny armor) but not the faintest clue how to go about it. I plan on watching more videos and have definitely subscribed and 'likes'.
Thank you for this! I've been using contact cement the wrong way for weeks - this works SO much better! I've made a couple of your sanding sticks too and they're working really well :)
Evil Ted you are inspiring and motivating!!! Thank to your tutorials, I finally learned how to make a kneck piece! You are a blessing to all cosplayers!
awesome, and excellent job on explaining to the "do it for me" people that it's really an art form that you have to experience with your own creative thoughts...I'm just starting to play around with the costume building, it takes some practice and lots of skill! fantastic work my friend!
Ted, these videos are awesome. I'm getting ready to start making a set of foam armor and I'll be referencing your videos, a lot. Thanks for making such information tutorials.
Thanks for this one, I made my first item (Cap Shield) and I had a lot of seams and I was really wanting to know how to get rid of them. This has given me an answer to that. I will be making Cap's helmet next and want to be sure I use these techs to make all the seams nearly gone. Thanks again.
Your videos are amazing. I’ve been building different eva foam props and costumes, and your channel has helped me so much! I’m so glad to see how you are able to do these things and help people learn and get better!! Keep up all the good work!
I love watching your video's. I am improving so much thanks to you.. I think most of us would agree that we all owe you a debt of gratitude my friend! Thank you for all you do.
Ha I wish this was out around the time I did my foam project. I tried using a different cauking. For the cracks on the chest. Didn't go so well. Thanks for the tutorial and keep up the good work.
I have to say, this will really help out when I make my Dark Set cosplay from Dark Souls, hiding seams and making round objects will help tremendously. I tried with wonderflex last year and it came out horribly, so I'm moving back to foam
Another solid tutorial mate. You provide the skills to convert my imagination into a physical reality and that is far my valuable than any single particular build.
Hi Ted, I did learn something from your videos and made my son his Honeybee costume. Its come out good and the teachers loved it!. Thanks a ton. You did help me put a smile on my little Tim's face!
It would be awesome to see a basic technique on how to make boots. A general idea to start with. It would help a lot. All your videos have been very helpful, I have learned a lot. Thank you so much for teaching us and sharing your knowledge. Kudos!
Ted..... your tops!. I've been into cosplay since I was little.... now a dad of 3 so are all my kids.... I'm now getting into making my own... What a great guy! You really teach, I am already building my first helmet. Although I bought several of your patterns, I am first building the free Dragon Hood one for practice since it will not be part of my final project. Thank you, I am so excited to have found your channel!
Just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I've learned so much from your videos and it makes me pumped up to work on my cosplay projects! Thanks for taking the time and making them so detailed!
A good way to also hide seams "if your creating you own design" if to incorporate decorations or over lapping into your designs. It makes the seam part of your design.
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques with everyone, I find your videos extremely helpful and inspiring! I haven't tried Barge yet, but and much less intimidated after watching your videos. Thank you again, can't wait to see more from you!
This is super helpful, oh my gosh! I've been looking for a tutorial that shows how to do clean foam seams for so long, thanks so much for the perfect tutorial! Also thanks for speaking out about the whole "please tell me how to build this" messages, cuz that needs to be said xD
Ted your the best from your videos I learned alot just from the basic foundation on how to make helmets then I worked from there. thanks again your tutorials are the best! on here😆
Hi Ted thanks for all the cool tips. I am sort of new to costume making but I am doing ok. I am using your video on how to make a foam helmet. To try constructing a kylo Rehn helmet. As I have a small head and struggle to get helmets to fit me. So hopefully I can pull off a a good job at this. So thanks again and if I manage it I will send you a picture. Thanks again and keep making videos it helps all us novices out there. Regards D,k
Thx so much Ted. I love your videos and was stoked to see this one pop up. My seams have been improving the more and more I craft but this is def gona help. Only wish plasti-dip wasn't so crazy expensive in the U.K.

for better results, u can use tamiya cement first to glue both parts and then use tamiya putty just like you did with the caulk but it is sandable. you can also just use tamiya putty and just sand it off.
Thanks for posting this!! I think your videos are the best tutorials I've come across for anything. I really appreciate your work since it's so easy and clean to follow. They make me feel Confident in trying new things. x) Which I actively do now because of your videos!
