You went all the way through with Bowser with having them evolve into a human-like culture and society. Kind of similar to the live action Super Mario Brothers movie where they show that the characters from the Mushroom Kingdom are alternate version of our planet. Then again it is fun to explore the idea of plausible anthropomorphic animals and what species could be the next sentient beings. Like with Planet of the Apes, though with apes, they're our cousins, as supposed to reptiles which are further down the evolution path and only distantly related to, since there are the synapsids. That act as like an in-between when a reptile transitions into a mammal. Sure it might be based on an outdated model of evolution that we see in pop culture, but we have found several species that act as like a transition from one form to another.
If you think about it, EVERY species is either just a transition from one clade to another or doomed to extinction! I do prefer to think of alternate sapient beings as not being too humanoid, but evolving in their own way to civilization!
@@speculativewildlife Still it is fun to think about with. Especially with all the fiction with anthro-animals. From children's stuff to the furry community.
At least what his "devolved" form should have looked like! I remember watching the movie as a kid and being super disappointed that he just turned to slime after a couple of seconds.
I think they should've at least given them scaly make up jobs or masks, even Creature of the Black Lagoon did that. Oh, by the way, I did redesign the Dinohattan residents on my DeviantArt channel.
Great stuff. I really like how you built up from a biological and pre-civilized foundation and incorporated that stuff into their civilized era. That's a really cool and natural way to build up the lore for a fantasy species, and seeing it here makes me wish it was more common for fantasy creatures to have an evolutionary history reflected in their culture. I'd be real interested in seeing your take on Toads (and maybe Peach, depending on how you want to handle mushroom crown toadette stuff). Really though anything more from the Mario series would be great to see on your channel, I dig the universe you're starting to build up with this and the Yoshi video.
That reimagining of Bowser looks great. Betcha you could do Donkey Kong which it can be a gorilla now standing on two legs and can still do knuckle walking.
I'm now slightly less scared of Bowser and much more scared of whatever the hell he'd consider a predator! Also, the thought of two Bowsers fighting each other reminds me how you can place Bowser more than once in Super Mario Maker. And I'm wondering what the other species of koopa, such as Koopa Troopas, would look like.
This is a great video! As a fan of mario and spec evo, it was fun to see the more realistic ways you incorporated some of the aspects from the games. Keep up the good work👍
I have some ideas of Mario-Themed Organisms that would be interesting, and I hope you like them: Red Mushroom 1-Up Mushroom Goomba Birdo Shy Guy Boo Dry Bones Bob-Ombs Bullet Bills Some of them might be impossible, but I hope you like them.
maybe you could make a video about oni's from Japanese mythology you could make them monkeys with fur patter mimicking that of a tiger (since oni's are describe wearing tiger skin) and explain the horns as rare mutation that causes growths on the head (it would explain why some onis have one horn and others many)
Alright! Now things are getting interesting! Also, another shoutout! Also, also a few other suggestions: Red-Crested Breegull (Banjo-Kazooie) and maybe something from the Legend of Zelda series (Like maybe Ganon or something i dunno🤷♂)
Ganon would be hard because it changes form size, abilities and almost everything from game to game, but I do intend to do something on the Zelda games!
@@speculativewildlife Thank you I do not see My race depicted in Spec bio enough. One condition you make us a creature with human level intellect. Could you also do the Witches from The Owl House?
"to fully developed cultures and societies by sentient beings" oof... mistaking sentience for sapience, rookie mistake lol! Most animals like dogs, cats, cows, deer, geese, and meese can be safely seen as sentient, whereas us and our extinct kin, and the inevitably future uplifted cetaceans and corvids are sapient.
Making them not be turtles is a pretty nice move, specially the idea they can grow sail 'wings' with scales.
Thanks, Im glad you liked it! I think it works better given it's removable shells!
The Paratroopas, right?
@@parker-boy98 yes

One interesting case would be the Yautja. Those guys actually evolved from Dicynodonts that were brought to another planet

That looks cool! That's what King Koopa should have looked like in the 1993 Mario movie instead of being human-like. :D

@@parker-boy98 Really, can you send me a link to it please? It sounds interesting. :)
If Bowser had a simple common name
It would either be the Tyrant Koopa, King Koopa, Titankoopa, or Giant Koopa
I think King Koopa, as it lends a royal air to it, more so than Tyrant Koopa.
It would be epic to see a fight between 2 of these giants.
I can picture it looking like a mix of fights between Bears and between Crocodiles!
@@speculativewildlife And Bulls(By the horns)
What in the actual fuck is so big that the goddamn Bowser fears it and is a oredator for him☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Well, there is no lack of giant predators in the Mario world!

Classic bowser W
Speculative Wildlife Research Center,
Your version of bowser is much more terrifying
I'm very glad you think so!
I'm elated and honored by that first shoutout btw!

Try the snake woman as a cobra with a vibrant color that looks like a kimono.

Omg sooo good the best! Adding sentient and sapient creatures really will make this ♡ Esp going through like this ♡
More like it coming soon too!
If you do another special update episode, maybe connect these Koopas with Gamera!
I do have plans to add more relatives of Gamera! Hadn't thought about these ones, but it could work!
Try the gommbas as a funny dodo like bird with no wings but large feet.
Thats a pretty fun idea, thank you!

Can you make a video about the arkosaurus from the combat giants dinosaur strike game ?
Plz
