    Where can I find out what given components can handle my main concerns are cams and timing chain

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  7 месяцев назад

      The manufacturer for aftermarket parts, or a quality retailer (not just one clipping the ticket on parts they know nothing about). So if you're fitting a Kelford cam, talk to them, ideally before you even buy it =)
      For OEM parts its harder as they can't tell you, but for many vehicles that are not new to the market there is a ton of information on forums etc laying out the power levels that are considered 'safe' for many parts.
      Outside of that a respected engine builder with experience will have had a ton of customers doing a lot of different things and will have a good idea, tuners too. The key is really just to not be afraid to search and talk to people taking your time before pulling out your wallet.
      Hope that helps! - Taz.

    Is there a difference between a diesel engine with a mechanical fuel pump and one with a common rail? Is the AFR limit with full engine load the same? whats is de EGT limit? thank in advance!

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  Год назад

      The fundamentals are the same for any 4 stroke diesel, but how you approach the tuning process is different given the systems are really very different. They are all controlling the same things just in different ways at the end of the day - Taz.

    • @fbervaz
      @fbervaz Год назад

      @@hpa101 That is, the afr should be the same for both types of systems? I need to make my truck as durable and reliable over time (ideally to improve fuel efficiency) so I need to know about afr and egt to make it reliable since many times I connect a tow truck for my work. thank you!

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  Год назад +1

      Yes, the relationship between air and fuel works the same. Easier to make changes and control it with a common rail system though of course but you make power in the same way, melt things at the same temps etc etc 😎
      There will be some knowledge in there that won't apply to you, but if you are looking for a bit of a start I think you will still find value in this course. If I'm wrong, you can grab a refund 😉 - www.hpacademy.com/courses/diesel-tuning-fundamentals/ - Taz

    So leaning a/f ration makes more power?

    • @PanikAtTheCisco
      @PanikAtTheCisco Год назад

      I don't believe that's what is being said. From my understanding, the added fuel that you command with these tunes requires a stochiometric ratio of air and fuel. More fuel will generate more power, but it will be even more efficient if you can introduce more air and maintain a good a/f ratio. Which I understand to be 14.5:1 for diesels. Black smoke just means unused power.

      The fundamentals of what is discussed do and there is a 6.7L PS specific example in the course too. Your actual tune will be different from the example the tutor shows, but you use the same knowledge and tools to create it as he demonstrates 😎 - Taz.

    The accessibility for end users who want to tune their own engine, but not spend a ton of money to buy a2ls, winols, lessons is just not there. I understand how I want the engine to run, but getting info on finding maps, switches in the binary is all locked behind huge pay walls. I can't justify a winols licence for my own pickup, so I'm to the point of trying to find things in the binary and modify it directly. I mean ez lynk will do a lot of the work, but finding things like how to ignore faults is almost completely undocumented.
