My two outside faucets are leaking and spitting water out of the vacuum breaker. Thanks for letting me know how to do this you are a tremendous value to our community!

Thanks to this tutorial, we were able to save money and our water! In texas, there are water restrictions, so needed to fix that leak!
I work for a plumbing/hvac company in sherman tx. a good tip is to use a map gas torch and add a little heat to the sil-cock before you try to twist it off. the brass will expand and let go easier. USUALLY no backup is needed that way.
I don't have a torch or anything. My faucet assembly piece is not budging at all when I try to loosen it. It must be rusted. I just need to replace the washer as I have a slow drip. Any advice on how to loosen the assembly piece? Thanks!
Thank you for the Video , I had to replace my leaky faucet just outside my garage door as well ...after removing a small section of drywall it turned out my 1/2 inch copper pipe was secured to the siding with metal brackets , so it made the job even easier but I bought channel lock pliers just incase I needed them for the job .. my outdoor faucet was just over 41 years old and had the same rubber washer inside from when it was new but I couldn't get the screw out that was holding the washer , so I opted to replace the faucet instead ... it only took 15 or 20 minutes ... thanks again ...
That is great to hear. It is always better to cut that little hole and know that to turn and pray. So glad this worked for you! Hope we can help again.
Thank you for such a helpful video. When the faucet is replaced, could I just shut off the main water valve that is coming into the house and then drain the pipes? Thank you.
Oh man I may have though so for a second as well. But I’m glad it was not! I was meaning to write you back and say I’m glad that the baking soda and vinegar worked. And you can never go wrong with filling the kitchen sink up to give the pipes a good flush! So happy I was able to help!

How did you know it was threaded on? If it was soldered on then, you would have bent and cracked the copper and you would have to replace the backside. Yeah it is. Some time older meter valves are just 1/4 turn though. You may want to check that! You don’t want to pay that city plumbing repair price! 😂
Are they all designed like this, I have to replace an exterior water spigot, I noticed thats in the crawl space. I also notice that its been soldered its not like the hydrant style
No unfortunately not all are like this. There are a few styles. Ok well you know it’s soldered it will have to be cut and adapted to some how. Is there good access and space to work? Do you solder? Send me a picture if you like and I can tell you how I would do it. Ufix247@gmail.com
Can you tell me about how it should cost to have that replaced? I live in florida and it seems almost everyone tries to rip me off. So if you can share the average cost that would be very helpful. Thank you
Where do you live in Florida? I know a couple plumbers in different parts of the state. The price really depends on the work involved. Does it look like it will just screw out?
Well i live in fort pierce. I can get a plumbing. I just want to be sure price is reasonable. It looks about like what you did. Except you cant get to the backside of it.
Ok if you can’t access it you could be looking at a couple hours. 350 or so I would guess. I would think people charge about 150 and hour. Should or could be less, but I don’t know in your area. It varies for sure.
It's the way it is here unfortunately. I am also looking to get this repaired and the quotes are ridiculous. There's no honesty anymore, anything you try to do and there's someone there to rip you off. It applies to everything. School for the kids? Take out a second mortgage. Medicine? Arm and leg. Oh you want something fixed? The part costs $9 but the labor is $350.
My pipe is inside my masonry wall on side of house and unable to get to inside pipe to hold. Even if I wanted to put a sharkbit how can I hold pipe to create the pushing pressure needed?
I don't know what to do but I have almost the exact one that you have in the video, but there's a hole on the side of the spigot and when the water turns on it shoots out to the side instead of it coming out of the front, I can't post pictures cuz for some reason RUclips doesn't allow that so I can't really show it but I don't know what to do and the other owner painted the spigot into the wall of the house, is there anyone that can help me out?
I need to do this on two of my spigots. But they come through the brick wall and foundation and I have no access whatsoever to the supply pipe. Are they safe being that they’re in there? And what about the steady drip while you were putting on the tape and thread sealant? Is that indicative of a leak further up toward the cutoff?
Having no access behind to hold the pipe is always scary. You are taking a chance that the pipe is secure and will not twist or break. The water was still coming out while I was putting tape on because I had not drained the whole house down. I figured I was outside and did not need all the water drained out. Can you replace the washers in your bibs for the repair?
Outdoor faucet was leaking. Estimate from plumber to replace faucet $350. Vinyl siding removal and replacement for access $250. Total $600. I went to local plumbing supply store. Washer and screw for faucet $1.69. Enough said.

Thank you i appreciate your input. Your Awsome
My outside faucet like that have its own shut off valve a couple feet away couldn’t I just shut that off instead of the main water valve.
Yes. That is great that it has a shut off valve. No need to shut the main off.
My pipe is inside my masonry wall on side of house and unable to get to inside pipe to hold. Even if I wanted to put a sharkbit how can I hold pipe to create the pushing pressure needed?
In fortunately you need to get in to that back side of the wall. It should be drywall or crawl space.
I don't know what to do but I have almost the exact one that you have in the video, but there's a hole on the side of the spigot and when the water turns on it shoots out to the side instead of it coming out of the front, I can't post pictures cuz for some reason RUclips doesn't allow that so I can't really show it but I don't know what to do and the other owner painted the spigot into the wall of the house, is there anyone that can help me out?
send me an email. ufix247@gmail.com. I'm happy to give it a look.
I am having such a hard time removing this spigot . Any suggestions to loosen it so it will come off ?
Can you see that it is threaded on? or is it soldered on? If you would like send me pictures on facebook and I can check it out.
@@ThatFixItGuy I can send you pictures on fb what is your page.
it is That Fix It guy.
@@ThatFixItGuy thankyou I just sent 2 pictures
Sorry I had not been on the DIY group in a while. I have a regular page as well.
Great video
I’m glad this helped! Thank you for watching and hope we can help again.
GOOD VIDEO.. AT MY HOME .. THEREC IS A COUPLER ON THE WALL PIPE AND GET THE TAP WITH THE MALE FITTING ANF SCREW IT INTO THE COUPLER
Yeah right on. They install these a few different ways. Eventually I am hoping and will have a video on every way. Thanks for watching.
Was expecting to see some Loc-tite on those threads with all that torque needed!
Man I’m glad there was no loc-tite on those threads. I would have twisted copper for sure!! Thanks for watching!
Another easier way to stop the leak is to install a garden hose Y-adapter with shut-off valve.
Very true. Those are a quick easy way. I may do a video on those type of easy repairs at some point. thank you.
I had one like that but the back pressure was enough to eventually press through the valve seal
Pipe wrench and a torch heat up the bibb
That is a good call. Have you ever heated the bib up so much that you unsweat the male adaptor?
Helpful thank u
Your welcome! Thank you for watching.
Before putting on the plumbers tape on I would have cleaned the threads with a wire brush.
Love your videos!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We really appreciate it.
@@ThatFixItGuy Thanks for your reply! I haven’t gotten out there yet to do a good investigation yet. Hopefully it is just the washers. :-)
I would check the washer in it for sure. Good luck and please let me know if I can help!
Outdoor faucet was leaking. Estimate from plumber to replace faucet $350. Vinyl siding removal and replacement for access $250. Total $600.
I went to local plumbing supply store. Washer and screw for faucet $1.69. Enough said.
Right on. I always love a repair instead of replace when possible. Thank you for sharing.
Teflon tape AND pipe dope?
Not exactly my problem but good video.
Dang, I guess I’m calling a plumber Monday. The pipe is inside my bedroom wall. 😭
Sorry to hear that Tami. If your not comfortable with it call a plumber. Hopefully you know one or can get a good recommendation to one.
My house bib is leaking, but it's attached to 50-year old PVC so I'm really nervous about doing this. Any advice?
Do you have access and can you get a back up wrench on the hose bib you are trying to get off. If so I would not worry to much about breaking it.
