Geoff is an absolute bass beast! Don't get me wrong, I love Avi, Tim and Matt, but if I only got to listen to one bass for the rest of my life it would be Geoff!
if you're referring to nowadays bass singers i agree...but in the past JD Sumner and Nic Val maybe they weren't better singers but thet had lower and deeper voices
@@davidwall3673 that's not how subharmonics work lol, but I personally hear a F1 at the lowest during that slide. There is no Eb1, people are probably just trying to find a new low for Geoff.

Usually not a fan of reaction channels because of all the pausing + talking over, but watched you two react to this months back and on another Geoff reaction binge and had to watch again. Your reactions are enjoyable to watch, subscribed!
The fact that Geoff has that much capacity in just his chest voice alone is mind-blowing to me. Holy smokes,, that man is something special for sure ! ♥️
OMG I love you gals reactions! I've watched this video countless times since Geoff released it to his Patreon members and I still get chills every single time! I grew up hearing Tennessee Ernie Ford singing this as my grandpa absolutely loved it and I spent countless hours with my grandpa so I was really excited when Geoff announced he was finally going to sing it. It is just so incredibly amazing. I love the interaction amongst the four Geoff's and using the tools the way he did was just genius. Those tools by the way actually belong to his Dad.
Tennessee Ernie Ford was a bass-baritone singer. He was a classically trained singer, but found jobs on radio doing 'hillbilly' personality type. At one point, he also was singing too & was discovered by a Capitol records scout. He then got his own TV show while also doing snippets on radio. He released almost 50 country singles through the early 1950s, several of which made the charts. He gained national fame in 1954 as the 'country bumpkin', "Cousin Ernie", on three episodes of I Love Lucy. In 1955, Ford recorded "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" (which reached number 4 on the country music chart) with "Farewell to the Mountains" on side B. Ford scored an unexpected hit on the pop charts in 1955 with his rendering of "Sixteen Tons", a sparsely arranged coal-miner's lament. Merle Travis had first recorded it in 1946. It reflected experiences of the Travis family in the mines at Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. It spent ten weeks at number one on the country charts and seven weeks at number one on the pop charts. The record sold over twenty million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. The song made Ford a crossover star, and became his signature song. He later went on to do an evening variety show incorporating gospel shows to end them & then a talk show. Eventually, he did guest spots on others' shows, then became a spokesman & eventually retired. ruclips.net/video/pLVtJkpl_ug/видео.html ========== From SW PA. VoicePlay is gonna have a new video out either this week or next week and it’s really really good, serious, you two will absolutely LOVE it. The featuring artist is INSANE. I really think they fit SOOOO well into the group. Looking forward to when that comes out.
I will never ever get used to Geoff and his low notes he is just so damn smooth. Love your reactions you guys are too cute. I know the way Geoff looks at you it feels like he's staring into your soul. ♥
As a fellow sub-harmonic bass, it makes me laugh out loud at the reaction of young people to a basso profundo (operatic term, I studied classical voice). We have been singing low like this for decades. You've just always been exposed to falsetto boys. Check out the original version of this song by Tennessee Ernie Ford. (Not criticizing. I love hearing Geoff too. )
Wonder how many vividly remember hearing/seeing Tennessee Ernie Ford… I was born and bred in Nashville. Remember many of those fellows singing in small bars, some described as dives. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs…. Had brother in law who “substituted” playing in Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass. We hit the honky tonks in Nashville in the early 70’s. Good times.
He actually hit a Eb1 In chest voice,... He said in a comment that he did this in full chest voice and said that there's no Subharmonics and he felt like since it was already sang by a bass he decided to "step it up a notch" (Quote by himself) and call it a Low bass singer cover
I am new to your channel lol, I love it. The reactions of you two is too funny! lol I thought you were gonna have to pause the video when Kaz went mental for a second when Geoff said "Well a bless my soul" lol Priceless. Way to hang in there.....for a few seconds lol

splendidly done!! Sarah's face is so reactive!! You two are amazing and I loves you dears!! I know you would have his babies kaz, which is ok, I would too >.>
Was a sceptic cuz I’m an old school country kinda gal. Tennessee Ernie Ford would approve of this!! Amazing job!! I’m gonna be looking for more...the laundry can WAIT!
Y'all at the start: "Okay, I'm ready" Me: "No, you really aren't." There is no being ready for Geoff's performances. You think every time that you know how good it's going to be, and he just surpasses every time. Anyway, love your reactions!
I've always loved this song. Remember listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford sing it when I was a kid. This was an amazing version. Oh, if y'all would like to listen to some more bass singing, Chris Rupp (formerly of Home Free) just released a cover of Josh Turner's "Long Black Train" featuring Tim Foust. It's pretty good!
That opening joke tho!!! omg lol. this version of this song is just AWESOME!!!!!! love it! Tennessee Ernie Ford's original was very cool but this just drooooopppppppssss the bottom base!! What is this dude's Range??!!! massively cool! Fun reaction, thanks ladies.
This song is so familiar to me. I grew up hearing this song and singing the lyrics came so naturally after so many years past. But Tennessee Ernie Ford's voice never gave me the chills across my nerves that this man does.

I wish I could like this comment twice!
I was thinking the same thing. LOL
That's how he got his wife and how she got herself a son lol
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
So that's what happened to Sarah heh
He hit all those low notes in chest voice, no subharmonics. That's why you thought it sounded different.

What about the backround notes at 2:12? (they sound like subharmonics to me.)
He stated it was all chest voice with no subharmonics in his comments.
@@xXNunduXx that was a literal bass. this song actually isn't acapella.
@@xXNunduXx One of Geoff's comments on the video was that there were no subharmonics used in the making of the song. I'm taking his word for it.
Sarah: You gotta ease into it.
Me: Oh, no he doesn’t!
Both of you: We’re ready.
Me: Oh, no you’re not!
"Well Bless my Soul!". That line caused so many peoples jaws to hit the floor and stay there. XD
And makes me question my heterosexuality

He hit either an Eb1 or a F#1 when he said “step a side” and the last notes were B1, Bb1, G#1 everything in this song was pure chest too :)
It's a Eb1-F#1 slide actually, so youre correct either way
Everything less then F1 was either a subharmonic or a fry.

Beautiful man with a beautiful voice. True facts.
Excited to see your reaction, its one of his best so far imo.
Agreed!!!
Yep, at least I'm not the only woman sitting around drooling over basso profundo men!!
Check out Ivan Rebroff singing Evening Bells. The Hu also sing low in Genghis Khan's classic war chant Wolf Totem.
This one gave me chills he is absolutely incredible!!
When you watch it again (and you *know* you will 😁), turn on the captions for some cheeky Geoff...
