Chadwick was a legendary actor and he really did earn the respect he deseeved which is 1 reason people didnt take the role.. then theres back lash from people that wouldnt be happy with the choice.. its not an easy role for an actor to accept
I agree, a non-celebrity actor is the way to go when casting Black Panther for future projects, but they better make the right choice, because I know fans will not be good with a new Black Panther for every future movie he’d appear in, multiverse excuse or not!
They are turning down the role to respect and not replace Boseman. The top picks who should be casted as black panther is Aldis hodge and Damson idris. Perfect casting
Happens all the time in Hollywood where an actors turned down roles, and then another actor picks it up and knocks it out of the park! Many reason why an actor would turn down the role, not just the few reasons as implied in this video.
we have a precedent with Heath Ledger's Joker that every actor who steps into Joker's cartoonishly large shoes will forever be compared to Heath Ledger's iconic portrayal
To not replace T'Challa would be a crime. Not the sone of T'challa but the OG who was raised by both parents, wise, powerful and one of the most powerful characters in all comics and THE most positive image of a black person in all of comics.
Damson was the only actor I’d accept as, T’Challa. So since he turned it down, a temporary multiverse fill in will be okay. However, Shuri was perfect. I loved that Black Panther
I can understand the hesitation. I can not understand someone not wanting to carry on this legacy... Big shoes to fill? Yeah... But what in the MCU at this point isn't extremely crucial???
There have been several characters who've worn the Spiderman suit (not just actors, but Miles Morales etc.), several who've been the character in other superhero suits ... and we already know that there have been other people who've worn the Black Panther suit even in the MCU ... so putting a different actor in is perfectly reasonable. Even having Harrison Ford showing up as Thunderbolt Ross, or the recasting of Dumbledore ... no worries.
After the way Marvel/Disney treated Jonathan Majors, they have proven they won't be fair or decent with Black Men. I wouldn't want my son to accept the offer either, regardless of how much money was involved.
Honestly, if they were to cast an actor as his grown-up son, I think that they should first, give the son a different name, not only to create a difference between the two characters, but also to be comic, accurate, and second, cast a younger actor, someone in their late teens to mid 20s. This way, the character is different, but the legacy is still the same.
They made such a huge initial fuss about not casting a new BP and not replacing CB’s BP, that it seems most won’t touch it out of respect for CB… I think the only way they can do it is that the replacement be “T’Challa’s son”… Plus, CB did the character so damned well, those are some immensely huge shoes to fill…

When you actually start thinking of actors who could potentially do it, you realise even more how perfect Chadwick was. True legend. To think what could have been with him leading the MCU
Chadwick Boseman did an amazing job with T'Challa and i understand not wanting to be compared to him but the character is definitely needed in the MCU and hopefully this role gives an opportunity to a relatively unknown actor.
He should have recast after Chadwick's death, he didn't want the character to die with him, he wanted the character to continue
Marvel definitely could use a diamond in the rough actor. So many A List actors not only adds to the budget but can also set fans expectations higher.
It makes sense that a lot of actors would not want to be compared to Boseman. He was a great Black Panther.
John David Washington would be a cool fit. His dad ( Denzel Washington) has already revealed to be in the next Black Panther?
hopefully we get this news soon really wanted them to continue the tchalla story in black panther 2
Josh Breckenridge has the look and the skills to do the job.
There have been several characters who've worn the Spiderman suit (not just actors, but Miles Morales etc.), several who've been the character in other superhero suits ... and we already know that there have been other people who've worn the Black Panther suit even in the MCU ... so putting a different actor in is perfectly reasonable. Even having Harrison Ford showing up as Thunderbolt Ross, or the recasting of Dumbledore ... no worries.
Tell them I want the role
There's a star out there just primed to be discovered and shine bright.
As long as they don't rush the process, we'll have our new Black Panther.
