I love music but I know next to nothing about how it's actually done. I have no idea what you're talking about most of the time. But there is still something so joyful in watching someone talk so passionately about something they love. It has genuinely made me appreciate listening to the songs you cover even more.
Seriously. One of my favorite bands for ten years now, I remember playing "Bumblebee" on my radio show. I've had the pleasure of seeing them a good number of times, but seeing them in Telluride (about 8 years ago? ) at the Caribou Lounge where they had to play the second part of the show unplugged... what a treat. Seeing top-tier musicians with incredible harmonies in a tiny setting that almost felt like a big living room? What a blessing. I've never understood how they aren't more well known.
Love this one! Been a fan of these guys for a long time. I know v you did "The Bird Hunters" by The Turnpike Troubadours, but they are back touring from a 3 year hiatus. Would love to see you go over "Diamonds and Gasoline" or "Every Girl" from one of the new shows! Both absolutely electric!
That electric piano sound just warms the cockles of my heart, maybe below the cockles, maybe in the subcockles area, maybe the liver, maybe even in the kidneys. I just don’t know. But it makes me feel good.
Ethan Klein from the H3 podcast has had success with fighting copyright claims from RUclips. He won a legal battle in New York against someone claiming copyright infringement on one of his reaction videos.
My good friend Trevor Nealon on keys doing the killer high harmony and setting the ambience (super talented) . Also plays with an amazing Grateful Dead tribute from Austin, Deadeye
Absolutely love watching you review and react to live music! You provide that element of education and explanation that makes each of your videos a joy to watch. I loved this live performance of Hurricane and I know you have ventured into some non-mainstream country artists in the past. If you're craving some fiddle action, I would highly recommend looking into Texas artist Shane Smith and the Saints! They do an excellent cover of Hurricane. I tried to find the best live performances I could and provided the links below! If they are not the best quality, I challenge you to look at some of their other stuff such as "The Mountain" or "Geronimo." This is one of my favorite songs. My favorite cover of this is by that kid from American Idol....Laine Hardy. Had to Google, couldn't remember. He actually has a version with the Band of Heathens. I think his voice is perfect for this song.
Hi Michael ! A big hello from France. thank you for your very intersting videos. I recently saw the ones you made on Beautifuly broken (when dove cries) and Soulshine (Warren is one of my favorite singers and guitar players). Il really like the way you analyse the music, beyond the guitar technic and also on the feeling, emotions and harmonies that make a song so special. I was very happy you did something on BOH' Hurricane. I'm a big fan of Band of Heathens, (thanks RUclips) but this band is completly unknown in France. I played in a humble cover band (guitar and vocals) and we used to cover this song that i choosed exactly for the same reasons you enjoy it. For fun, I found the following video (ruclips.net/video/N3GUy5LGXqI/видео.html)of this song played live by BOH, and I wanted to share it with you. How the crowd is completly with the band, singing all the lyrics, is amazing and the tension in the playin' is like a... Hurricane. For fun, in the very last minutes I guess you'll recognize a riff that remains me that MaryJane will never dance anymore. Thanks again for your work Michael I really enjoy seeing your videos (thanks to automatic subtitles)
I do not play the guitar, but I follow you for this.. new artists I don't know and the credit you give 'em. Fantastic content IMO. #findingnewartistanywayican
Hello Mr Palimsano. I love your channel, I love the way you teach and feel the music. That is beyond any doubt. But I'm surprised no one has commented on your copyright and fair use issues. No one listens to what you say and they just jump to the reaction section? My solidarity with you. I hope you solve your problems soon.
In addition more bands UFO Eagles Fleetwood Mac with great guitar work and other good melodica work when I mention Sammy I mean standing Hampton and other old stuff
Nothing against you and your video but this music is no talent hack music in my opinion. They strum a different chord every 5 seconds when they crescendo with the lyrics and people think it's music. Its not music. Seriously, I don't think a metronome can go any slower than the drummer either.
Great song! I never heard about this song and many others you’ve commented here. how many times my heart started to beat faster when watching stuff you’ve presented. Your perspective and way of explaining things is something only blessed teachers have. I’ve been learning the piano when I was 9… felt the music but I didn’t understand much of it. Six years of music school struggling alone with the fact that I’m doing something that makes no sense, being in the system where only student is the one to blame for the failure. Never really get a chance to love my instrument…Thanks to your channel I’m thinking to sit and start all over again… maybe with a guitar, don’t know yet. Marta, Athens GR/forgive me my poor English/
Band of Heathens is awesome, and the harmonies in this song are great. However, no one tops ol Levon on this tune. Mr Helm just had that southern roughness in his singing.
It's about time. That's excellent music. There's another acoustic version that's amazing too. I usually watch all your videos. Can't remember if you have done Turnpike Troubadours
These guys are like The Eagles of Americana. Great tunes. They have a tune called Hallelujah and it goes into I’ve got a Feeling on RUclips. You’ll love it.
Hey Michael! I love the way you react to the songs. Could you react to one of the best bands in Spanish history? TRIANA- ABRE LA PUERTA Otherwise you could also react to La leyenda del tiempo by Camarón and Paco de Lucía, I'm sure you've never heard something like that before. Flamenco and progressive rock, it's up to you now😉
I just learned this song on guitar a couple of weeks ago. One major lesson I got from learning this song is just how important learning when NOT to play anything is. Such an amazing song.
This reaction is so amazing one of my faves apart from Sideways by Travis Meadows❤️ this is one of my favorite songs ! Uggg thanks for showing me this will probably never listen to studio version again haha ❤️✌️
OK ... BOB HERE ... please check out HOLGER BOGEN ... any of his videos ... funky ... fantastic ... tell me what you think ... clean picking ... whatever the hell he is doing ... can't comprehend all the licks ... sooooooooooooo sweet ... the versions of famous songs he makes his own ... amazing ... talk to me buddy
I used to sell their merch back when they played Momo's on the regular. I miss the original lineup, but Ed and Gordy have continued to make incredible music. I just hate I only get to see them every few years now, since they don't make it to my neck of the woods very often. Really happy to see them get some props on your channel!
Love your reactions and break downs! This is one of my favorite bands NEEDTOBREATHE, they are doing a live cover of “Stand by Me” and I’d love to hear your breakdown of it
I needed this too, brother! Levon's version is killer, and it's always a treat when you get your mind blown by a completely different take on one of your favorite tunes - those dynamics gave me straight up chills! So so grateful for all you do :)

I agree. Check out Rick Beato on RUclips too. His “What makes this song great” series is quite incredible.
You should check out Michael's online lessons. He explains everything

Levon Helm does a great rendition of this tune as well
The man tickling those keys isn't getting enough credit. Flawless
Trevor Nealon . Plays in several Austin bands. Killer musician and great dude
Austin is right up the road, ill look him up@@Christatum411
Band of Heathens is a band filled with talent. Check out Jackson Station. I love how they switch off singing verses and make a beautiful large chorus

I’m these videos, are you using an amp or some sort of modeling?
I can really see how music theory has helped you understand how music sounds. 😁👍lol!!
The song reminds me of Take A Load Off Benny and Put the Load on Me - The Band.

Wow…Love IT! That band and song, and your breakdown….thanks!!!!!!

This is transcendental! If you were there listening at the time you should have been on the floor unable to move.
Thanks!
This man’s love of music is so refreshing

I do not play the guitar, but I follow you for this.. new artists I don't know and the credit you give 'em. Fantastic content IMO. #findingnewartistanywayican
Yesss!!! Finally! Been wanting you to do this song for a while!
One of my favorite groups. Thanks!
You are so right about NOLA. I feel like it's the only place on Earth where Angel's dance with the Devil.

fuckin play it brother I'm straight up from new Orleans🤘🙂
You should check out flatland cavalry. Anything from the far out west sessions. But my favorite is dancin' around a fire
If that opening harmonized line doesn't immediately give you chills you might be dead inside.
I concur. I didn’t get the chills. But, I’m buying what they’re selling! Great stuff!
What kinda amp do you prefer? I’m investing in a 68 Princeton do you have any advice or opinions you’d like to offer

They do a good job. I usually hate covers, but this is a definite exception.

React to Hangin’ Tree by Band of Heathens live! It’s underground beast of a song! Their best one ever in my opinion
Brothers comatose~ Valerie(Cover of Amy Winehouses' song) is a really good one

Love the passion Michael. Great channel.
There is another version of this song by Shane Smith & The Saints I implore you all to listen to.

This is one of my favorite songs to do live, for that reason. It also leaves a lot for you to interpret creatively. You can go so many ways with it.
So glad that you reacted to this song. One of my faves.
always been a huge fan of this song, thanks for sharing this live performance!
You should react to sea of lies by symphony x

Friend of mine that lived in New Orleans during Katrina sent this song to me. Such a great rendition of this one.
I've loved this song ever since it came out. One of my first songs I learned on guitar. Thanks for doing it Michael!
That was a superb analysis.

My favorite band.
Gotta love Levon! What a great cover.

Yeah.. :)
Looks like Carlos Santana playing "Soul Survivor" at Woodstock. The picture behind you.
Mr. Leon Everette from Ward, SC wrote this song. He's been back in the studio recently.
You have to do Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing - Live at the Alchemy!
Randy Rand from Autograph passed this week. Only 62
Fucking awesome
I love that Southern bluesy Twang .. We need more
Yep! This is the REAL stuff, Michael! Just perfect!
Nothing better then to watch you break down a song with such enthusiasm. Makes my day.
that organ is a huge part - so haunting and perfect with the song and tone! these dudes are amazing!
Their harmony and musicianship are impeccable!
