You are very correct sir. If you look at the Side seal clearance spec for an rx8 it is nearly 4 times the amount for the older 13b!! they have an entirely different type of side seal.
Dude I'm learning alot. Your gonna be one of those dudes that start of in you garage but in like 2-3 years your gonna be like the mighty car mods of rotary. Keep it up...
It’s almost as if you knew I was just about to rebuild my engine and was wondering the right way to clearance side seals. Perfect timing, loved the vid!
Great video. Thanks. I'm a ways from my first build but this definitely helped me visualize the process. I'll definitely need to build some of those trays when the time comes.
Dude I love all your videos, you give so much important knowledge that’s help me with my personal SA22 , FB , and second gen FC’s s4 and S5. Thanks for always sharing everything you know! It’s a truly a big help! Quick question when you build engines , do you ever dowel them? Or when do you feel it’s necessary to dowel them? When it comes to turbo builds
I can make some comments on the dowels in the next assembly video. I have done studs, but I dont have a ton of experience with dowels. I can explain why they are used/the benefits as well
Hello. I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I've owned a 1979, a 1980, 3 1981's, and a 1991 rx7 and now I've bought myself a 1993 fd😊. I plan on keeping this one. I've been watching several of your videos so when the time comes for a rebuild hopefully i will fill confident enough to do it myself. What state do you live in case i feel like i need someone with your experience? Thank you.
if you cooperate and hold some talk or podcast with say, RE Specialties in Florida or some Mazda tech or japanese builder enthusiast, it would make a really great advertising campaign for all things appreciative of rotaries and similar hobbies
any idea what temperature the seals should be at while clearancing? .06%-.07% of thermal expansion for every 100 deg is enough to throw them off by a couple thousandths if your doing it in a 90 deg garage vs a 29 deg garage.
what apex springs and side seals do you run all what Atkins sells? I've read a bunch of forums but Id like your personal input because frankly I trust that yk what your doing and own many. Thanks have had a gsl se for about 3 weeks now!
Hi I learn so much watching your videos I got my car running I was thinking can you make a video of how or which coilovers will fit a 1984 rx7 Mazda 12a or to make your own
I'm gonna rebuild mine very soon. 13B is consuming coolant and oil. I already have the omp deleted soooo yeah. It's not terrible yet but about every 400 miles I'm having to fill coolant reservoir and a full quart of 20-50. Not leaking it. Plugs are getting fouled up about every 2000 miles. It's time.
You need more clearance for an RX8 build due to the Exhaust Side ports which get the side seals hotter

@@RADPotential so please what is the right clearence for side seal for mazda RX8 renesis engine? Stock engine I mean. Thanks in advice.
Then get the right service manual.
I believe RX8 side seals are keystone/chamfered that requires a slightly different process to clearence.
Watching this video after I pulled half of a side seal out of my rotor. 😂

What bit did you use in the milling machine...moreso what diameter bit sis you get to fit in the corner seal groove
Hi I learn so much watching your videos I got my car running I was thinking can you make a video of how or which coilovers will fit a 1984 rx7 Mazda 12a or to make your own
So I see people putting a shim in the outside lip of the side seal to check the seal. Do we have to do that to get the correct number.
Another thing u can do as well is get a dremel and have a sanding bit on the end of it nd dial it in
