- 15 minutes down the road from me is the home of Gloucester City AFC - Meadow Park - Now known as The Tiger Turf Stadium 🏟️ It was completely rebuilt from shipping containers and opened back up in 2020 after years of being an abandoned stadium due to major flooding in 2007 💦 The flooding was that severe the water level rose to almost the crossbar! Just watched the video. The Clubhouse building, changing rooms, remains from the old Meadow Park. The pitch level used to be at the bottom of that building. Then after floods, pitch level was raised up to around the first floor of the building. If you looked behind the far end terraced stand, you can see the old T - End terraced stand. I believe the steps of the stand have to remain, as it acts as a retaining wall. The old Meadow Park had a pre season friendly with Arsenal in the 1980's. George Graham brought the First Team. In the 1990's, Everton brought their First Team, for a friendly. We reached the FA Trophy Semi Final in 1997, two legged affair. Played Dagenham and Redbridge, 2nd leg, Meadow Park had a crowd of 4000. (Missed out on a trip to Wembley, as we got beat in a Replay). That same season, we lost out on Promotion, to Rivals Cheltenham Town. They finished 2nd, us 3rd. They were Promoted to the Vauxhall Conference, as 1st place team, Gresley Rovers ground did not meet the Ground Grading Criteria.

Visited here last season to watch Gloucester v Kidderminster Harriers
Went there with Hereford on Boxing day, was a class away day with a last minute winner so definitely fond memories of this place.
Gutted I missed that game (was playing “good boyfriend” at Xmas 😅)

I prefer the days of the yellow and black tigers era. Always remember 1997 when Cheltenham finished above Gloucester to get promoted to the conference. My mates dad got arrested on the final day along with others for fighting away fans after losing when a win was needed. There was a police helicopter and dogs brought in to control the violence which temporarily stopped the match.
The old man is a season ticket at Hereford but the rivalry isn’t as fierce is it?

Been watching the Tigers for last 3 seasons, really like the quirkiness of the ground. As has been said previously, if you'd looked behind the New T End you'd have seen the old T End terrace and how far up the ground has been raised. Enjoyed watching the video 👍👍👍
If I’m honest I prefer looking at old shitty stadiums rather than polished turd new stadiums. Keep up the good work mate.

After so long away, this ground was very much about getting back to the city. I'm sure everyone accepts that it's a bit crap, but at least they are back home (or about 3 metres on top on their old home, to be exact). For old and a bit quirky I'd suggest Altrincham, Bath, Chorley, Hastings, Hereford, Merthyr, and Prescott Cables.
you missed the most revealing bit; behind the far goal the old T-End terrace is still in place about 12ft below the current pitch level.

You should check out the abandoned Newlands rugby staduim in Cape Town the staduim is over 100 years old and its left to rot the venue used to host a few football matches to. The downfall of the staduim is quite sad and I think it can be a amazing video. The staduim is quite big it is bigger than quite a few Premier League staduims

Rugby averages 13000 attendances so it is hard to compete
