It gets more fitting when you remember that Megalovania is Chara's theme. I'd say Zero and Chara have quite a few similarities. They're both very sacrificial, very powerful, have an evil side that isn't necessarily their fault, but also have a good side that relies on the actions of other people, almost never seem to die, and wield a blade as their main weapon. :)
