It’s not one of the greatest movies ever made. It’s a good movie, but it has problems. Exposition aimed for the audience is one of those problems. Having scientists explain other scientists how a wormhole and gravity works is just laughable. I like that movie very much, but it has filmmaking issues that make it NOT one of the greatest ever made. From a technical standpoint it is masterclass tho.
@@i-deni-i5138 It's not really that hard to understand what the movie is about. Every human is connected with the subject that movie is about. For some, it's easy to understand and it makes it easy for them to enjoy it, whereas for some, the genre doesn't quite fit. But interstellar is arguably one of the best movies ever produced.
@@wNNdSharK I’m not giving him directing pointers here. Directing and writing are two different things. I’m just pointing out a flaw in screenwriting that should be avoided. I’m not trying to sound like a smartass or whatever. I’m just trying to explain something. I know why Nolan does that, but it’s a flaw none the less.
The fierst time I watched this movie I 'didnt get it' and didnt rate it much. A few years later I gave it another try on my new 3D HD TV and surround but then I GOT IT! what a MASTERPIECE Chris Nolan and every one else has done. I now have it on Blue Ray and watch it regularly. The music especially the docking scene is PHENOMINAL. Hans Zimmers organ music really spine tingling stuff! I Love Chris's films now but some are so complex you need to watch them TWICE to really see his vision! EPIC EPIC QUALITIES.
Do you think Netflix is able to provide the same budget and same deadlines? Interstelllar's post production (including SFX) period was at least 6 months and they were able to spend money on excavators, renting a corn field and all other rather big expenses whereas Netflix's sound guys have to deliver their work being cut short on both money and time. I'm not trying to defend Netlix's approach, but that's the difference between a TV (internet) show and a blockbuster.
They are not trying to make one masterpiece, but movies and series that have the same level of quality... unfortunately... If we lived in a world with only masterpieces they wouldn't be masterpieces.
The detail and level of persistence to achieve the environment sound is a factor of the why and how you feel the visual depths of interstellar. These guys are geniuses and I thank you for the work you’ve done.
they work so hard man and we dont even appreciate them the way they deserve.I also didnt appreciated anybody like this but after watching this video........ you bet?
These guys just did an awesome job here. You may like the story (or parts of it) or you dont, same with dialogues or script in general, that might be subjective, but from an acoustic and visual point of view this movie is not just bleeding edge, but close to perfect for today.
The best sound fx aren't synthesized or artificial. They come from amazing foley artists at the top of their craft and willing to experiment for days, weeks, and months.
I hope guys like Christopher Nolan do know that there are extreme audiophiles out here who really ARE listening. Like when a tiny insignificant object moves R to L behind our heads in 5.1, we do realize that was a recorded incident and then someone with their hand on the balance knob automated that move.
I see a lot of fellow Indians commenting under interstellar movie related RUclips videos. It shows how we Indians are curious about space. It feels great that we are carrying the legacy of our forefathers of exploring the cosmos. The scientific temperament is catching up which we had lost long back due to slavery and colonialism. Proud.
Contact with Jodie Foster; the brief but colourful segment where she was blasting through the galaxies; there was a special team put together to CGI that and it took six months. It was beautiful and less than a minute of the film. Years before there was internet I was picking up digital content from an SFX studio and these three very young guys had huge, thick books from the library so they could understand internal anatomy of dinosaurs, especially bone joints and limits of articulation along with muscle origin and insertion (an anatomy term), and how the skin reacts to those movements. They didn't just make up stuff they thought would look cool. I had a new respect for that kind of work.
Wow first time I'm seeing this after I thought I've seen every video related to Interstellar lol . Anyone know why this wasn't included in the Blu Ray special features?
oh just made the connection with the dust sounds hitting the car window and the 'stuff' that pelts holes in the spacecraft falling inside the black hole
I thought it was used for when there's actually dust hitting the truck during the scene where they're at the Yankees game and rush home because of the dust storm.
I found a long winded discussion about the aircraft rotting at the precipice of a waterfall that was featured in a Lara Croft film. To me "Oh, crappy old plane of some kind. I bet she gets out of this dangerous predicament too."
But I think it is very sad that everyone are using shotgun microphones for almost everything. The proximity effects add far to much energy in the low frequencies that seldom are equalized and offset the timing. It feels like the sounds are too thick, with to much energy, like being far away and close at the same time. I long for anyone that would dare to record with omni only adding a dynamic and realism impact to the sounds that would really hit the audience. The "shotgun mic sound" is very theatrical to my ears. Over exaggerated like a Marvel movie.
These men spend months and years of their lives just to entertain you for 2,5 hours. Respect.
they do it because they enjoy the work itself... and make bank
@@josephm5241 My point still stands though.
I have watched it more than once, so.... I bet they have entertained me for more than 10h

What??
TBH I experienced it
I just went because poster and name looked something unique

I was transported into it
this is terribly underrated, props to these guys for actually making me think the sounds were shot on the same days as the movie
No wonder it came out as one of greatest movies ever made!

Not even close to be the greatest movie. Not even in the top 1000.
Interstellar, This movie is filled with a lot of emotions and those scores and sound effects did a great job to express them ( Emotions).

My god they worked really hard!!!
This movie was epic. Still my favorite and the only sci-fi movie which makes me cry every time
Cooper: "How did you know I'd get back?"
Murphy: "Because my daddy promised me"
XD
Interstellar was the first movie I ever saw where the visual effects and the sound effects truly blew my mind. It really did all feel THERE.
So much work on just sounds! 😨
Salute to these creative people
I could have provided all the shuttle rattle you guys wanted with my washing machine -- lots of personality in this one :)
I know how you feel 😁
Anything over 800 rpm and the building feels like it's shaking apart.
So sad that Marvels Endgame is the most successful film because interstellar is truly the best film ever which everyone should have seen.
This is absolutely genius. These men are kings.
Netflix should take notes for sound effects all their garbage movies have the same cheap sound effects and bad mixing
These is a difference between making movies as a passion and making movies just to make money.

Just stop watching Netflix 🤣
They are not trying to make one masterpiece, but movies and series that have the same level of quality... unfortunately... If we lived in a world with only masterpieces they wouldn't be masterpieces.
But Netflix don’t actually make their movies for the most part. They pay for them but they’re not a studio as such.
Sound designers did a great job when you don't notice their contribution.
In this movie I didn't even knew they were there.
One of the best films ever, a masterpiece !
You all did a fantastic job on "Interstellar". Thank you so very much.

No he's from the sound department, not props
So your telling me this movie didn't win a single Oscar.....
coz the only black actor played a negative role in this movie
@@qingyuanzhang3644 how was it a negative role
@@qingyuanzhang3644 no one had negative role in that movie.
Interstellar won the Oscar for best VFX that year
I would like to say "Any Oscar didn't win this movie"

amazing work of art by hugely talented people
Best score ever.

The best movie that I ever seen. Great job.
Extreme hard work and intelligence, what I expected
The music took me into the space
Amazing work
Wonderful job.
The biggest impression this movie left for me was the sound.

Best sound - Even the Dodge Cummins engine was accurate

These guys are living my life 😕
At 3:00 minutes, Richard King mentioned a "production track". what does production track mean? Is it an audiotrack, that came from the cutters?
Audio that was recorded on set while filming. "Looping" = actors dubbing themselves later.
Matthew M is notorious for slurring in southern drawl so I can’t believe they didn’t have to do more
Amazing! Wow.
remarkable
Masterpiece!
So great ,!
I unfriend people who say they did not like Interstellar or if they say anything bad about Nolan. Such people are simply not worth my time.
What makes me wonder is this channel!!!!.
Good enough is not Good enough!
No such thing as impeccable taste, by nature.

I think Richard King is my hero
wait i thought it was all HANS ZIMMER LOl

I thought sound was recorded as sync sound..
And here I just assumed they would buy one of those cheap sound effects clipart DVD's in order
to save money to be used for CGI. Guess I was wrong.
5:05, now why would Christopher Nolan have a junked airplane just lying around? Hmm...
It's obviously the airplane they used in Tenet.....
I found a long winded discussion about the aircraft rotting at the precipice of a waterfall that was featured in a Lara Croft film. To me "Oh, crappy old plane of some kind. I bet she gets out of this dangerous predicament too."
why does someone dislike that video? not understandable
Funny... there were a lot of people bitching about not being able to hear the dialog in Interstellar.
and then we made the choice to use the worst sound mixing for Tenet..
why tf did i watch this
I'm sorry, but my favorite sound effects in "Interstellar" was Hans Zimmer's fantastic score.
Ok
He "created a sand gun"? Sorry dude but he most definitely did not invent that. It is a sand blaster. They have been around for years and years.
