this is a type of review that I have been looking for 3months ago. these 3 controllers are great but I have to choose between them. and i bought ddj rb (",) no regrets, so far .
I had the great ddj sx but for me was to big to bring to the club so i started to look around for a new smaller but good powered option. After a while and too many time invested in my research, my decision was between the ddj rb, the old but still great vci 380 and the powerfull denon mc6000mk2. I left behind the ddj rb because i read many complains about rekordbox issues and im a serato user so i ended choosing the MC6000mk2 and i can not be more happy. I think at the moment the best mobil four channel controller with dvs , video capabilities, great and powerfull dedicated sound card. Best option for my needs! I think all of them are good for specific uses but my best advice is choose what you like n makes you happy!
I'm new to the Dj world and the shop staff didn't give me the time of day to explain one DDJ controller to another but your indeth videos have givern me the advice I much needed. Meny thanks.
Honestly, i was using Techincs with records since 1993, and one day i decided to get into the controller world. To start to know what it was about i got a ddj-sb2 just to introduce myself into this king of stuff, and it was in 2017. Now, almost 2025, i'm still using that ddj-sb2. I see lot of djs spending lot of money to get the best new one hardware, and i saw that they do same things i do with my cheap little box. So you really need to know what you need and what you have to do before to spend lot of money for nothing. Just my opinion, btw..
I feel that the DDJ-SB2 is kinda out of place, its a 4 deck controller, would it not be more able to compare to the Mixtrack platinum since it is a 4 deck controller. I have both the DDJ-RB and the Pro 3 pros and cons to me. Pro 3 has the track seaker at the top, it can also control the affects as well when you hit the TAB button on the top, also the tempo controls are much bigger, cons, no trim controls, i have hit my tempo control when i spin the jog wheel, and the pad at the bottom only has 4 buttons to use, the bottom 4 are for hot cues. The DDJ-RB has the trim controls, an an 8 button pad for samples rather then the 4. also the DDJ-RB has a better sound card compared to the Mixtrack Pro 3. So far i like the DDJ-RB in terms of features over my Pro 3 but i love the Pro 3 for the control bar at the top and for the longer tempo control. these two controllers are really close to each other, its all about how you want to play.
ddj rb is the best among the 3. considering over all package like software and price. bought rb last february. i've been doin some mixes (trying to learn) on my free time. but if i someone is planning to buy an entry level i suggest, its better to add a few dollars and just buy a ddj rr or ddj sr😎👍
My exact thoughts. I am infected with the thought of mixing. If I went with one of the controllers geared for beginners, as I advanced my skills, I would only want a more advanced controller.
I love my RB's converting from Traktor to Rekordbox was a very smooth transition. But Serato is the industry standard. For mobile dh's I recommend rekordbox (RB) for club use the (SB2)
+Prajwal Rao you would have to map the controllerout. I think all the buttons are mappable but I've heard that the jog wheels can't be mapped. If you want to use traktor I'd recommend looking into the S2 or S4 to start with.
CJ Gagno buy some real decks instead. I picked up my technics nearly 12 years ago and they are still running like a dream. Learn how to mix properly and not mixing via pressing a button. All these effects are just gimmicky.
Surprised this analysis did not include Mixtrack Platinum instead of Mixtrack Pro 3 - or even in addition. The Mixtrack Platinum is in same price range now.
The platinum is flawed. I sold my pro 3 and got the platinum, very first impression, heavy and more solid built, LOVED the weight / resistance on the wheels, then i plugged it in and saw the nice screens and ...... REALLY bad buzzing that was not there with my old controller. found it was a very common issue due to the power draw of the additional screens. a week later some of the screen sections stopped working. I sent it back for a replacement but it buzzed even worse. so i sent that back too. now i'm here looking at the pioneer and wanted to see how it compared to my old pro 3. think i'm going to get the pioneer.
Great Intro Controllers.. I Had 1210's Way Back When n Once We Moved Had No Room For All Tha Vinyl, Decks n Mixer. So A Couple Of Weeks Ago I Dipped In In Tha DDJ-SX2 n I Have Ta Say Its Off Tha Chain.. Can't Fault It One Bit. Def A Good Vid For 'Newbies' Thanks Homie Fo Sharin PEACE MCD
Great video :) It's 's not completely true that you need a laptop or computer for these controllers. I've been running my Mixtrack pro 2 through my ipad with the Dj Player pro app (various other apps exist too) for years now. The software is just as good-if not better than serato and at a fraction of the cost. It's saved me hundreds of pounds. Great for beginners or intermediates on a budget if you already own an ipad and can't afford the full serato package and a capable laptop.
Crossfader No worries:) i was stuck in the situation of wanting a controller but owning neither a capable laptop or Serato. Didn't really want to spend another 5 or 600 quid on top of the Mix Track Pro 2 price to rekindle an old hobby (ex vinyl dj! ) i found this app an absolute godsend at the time, still using it 3 years on :)
So you could use your controller on a desktop computer? I just ordered the RB and am getting ready to start learning just wondering if I need a laptop to start or if a desktop computer to practice and learn
+Crossfader , I understand that overall, the consensus is that the RB controller is the better option for beginners. But in terms of growth, would you recommend the SB2 over the RB? I am a beginner with little knowledge on DJ controllers, but I am looking to purchase one that would allow me to grow and won't restrict me in the long run. Your feedback would be appreciated.
I have the Mixtrack 3, not the pro version, so I'm using VirtualDJ and an additional soundcard. I LOVE the pitch faders but HATE the touch strips for FX. I'd prefer a knob
I am looking to buy a DDJ SX2! Well before I hvnt used any other controllers. but I hv got my hands on CDJs and I really want to try Serato before I used Rekord box to manage my playlist to usb drive but I am fade up of my tracks disappearing for no good reason from my play list when I reopen it after a week. so I decided to get my self a Controller and I feel I could get much more comfortable with them then the CDJs.
+Rajat Khati the best equipment is whatever you feel most comfortable with. The DDJ SX2 is a firm favourite of ours. It's actually got a lot more features than any CDJ set up.
+Money Nifemi so you don’t have to buy Serato DJ to use these controllers. The intro version comes free. It’s only if you decide to upgrade the software to unlock more features. You can download Serato DJ intro for free without any equipment but you won’t be able to do anything with it without hardware.
I am looking for a new controller! I use my DDJ-SB for almost 2 years now and practiced a lot. But now i want more features and with the SB2 u can use 4 decks, you can trim and see if u are redlining or not and it's just the newer version of what i have now. With the DDJ-RB it has the nice "que" and 'play' buttons. It comes only with rekordbox what's nice if you have to dj in a club on cdj's, and u can adjust the effects like on dj mixers in a club. But can you go +6 and go WIDE with the pitch faders or not? and wich one is better to go if you have dj experience?
To answer your question on the pitch faders, yes you can go to +-6/10/16 and wide with the DDJ RB. You can also do the same with the other controllers using the complete version of Serato DJ. If you're already using the SB and are comfortable with it then the SB2 would be a natural upgrade. If you move over to Rekordbox know that you will have to re prepare all your hot cues and get familiar with a new software. Saying that however, Rekordbox is an amazing program and the controller allows you to be a lot more creative and perform more advanced techniques so maybe that transition is what you're looking for. The 3rd and 4th decks aren't the best to use on the DDJ SB2 because you have to pull the fader up and down with it only being a 2 channel controller. If you want to mix with 3 or 4 decks I would recommend looking at a controller with 4 channels.
Crossfader omg thank you! i was looking for a new one last weekend. when i was at the store someone told me to go for the ddj - rx what i will do (: it may be more expensive but you can do a lot more and you will look more professional with it. thanks for the answer!
Hey! thanks for this video, mate. I am a budding DJ, i have done a DJ course on hardware and want to explore more and try playing for private or corporate parties. I was speculating between SB2 & RB, was in a dilemma for over a week now. I stumbled on to this video and this has answered my questions in a better way and I have ordered DDJ RB for myself now. While i know that there is a Rekordbox software which comes along with the controller and I learnt from your video that these controller will work with virtual DJ software. Firstly, is it true & how would you use it? Secondly, what are the limitations with virtual DJ when used with these controllers? Your time in answering the above will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Sharath.
The DDJ RB works with Virtual DJ 8 however you will need a specific license. Either the pro infinity, pro subscription or plus DDJ RB controller license. It should map out pretty much the same however we haven’t tested it specifically on virtual Dj so can’t say how it exactly maps out. Maybe someone else in the community could answer this question better. Here is a link to VDJs RB user guide: www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/pioneer/ddjrb/setup.html
Thanks for the interesting video! I'm trying to make a decision on my first DJ controller purchase. What I find tricky is comparing older vs newer controllers in the same price range. I was wondering if you had any advice on how these newer controllers compared to the Hercules RMX 2, which I'm thinking of purchasing?
Hey, so we haven't been hands on with the Hercules RMX 2 personally so can't give the best comparison. The benefit the Hercules has over these units is that it can be used with external CDJ's or turntables as it's a standalone unit also with separate channel inputs. It also has a balanced XLR output which is better is hooked up to a club soundsystem. As far as performance features go it offers up pretty similar one's to the other intro controllers in this comparison, so you can still get creative with it. One of the things that i'm personally not the biggest fan of is having the FX built into the pad modes so you have to swap between hot cue, loops and effects rather than have separate controls to turn your effects on and off. Still this is only a minor issue.
As a beginner, after one has learned the spectrum of mixing wouldn't you want a more advanced controller? I'm thinking on the level of a fish tank. You set up a 10 gallon, then you want a 20 gallon, then you want a 55 gallon. Why not go for the gusto right out of the gate? Your thoughts?
absolute bs, better controller does not make you a better dj, practice does. what if you buy 55 gallon and later on you realise its not your piece of cake? any of those 3 are good enough to start, on any of them experienced dj can rock the crowd, check dj tlm on mixtrack pro 2
Yes they do all work with Virtual DJ now as well. Up until recently the DDJ RB didn't so you may have to make sure you have the latest version of virtual DJ if you buy the DDJ RB.
+Sub Skrill You can successfully perform a backspin on a most equipment if you keep in control of the jog wheel while doing it and control the speed of it. However if you’re aiming to just spin the jog wheel and let go it won’t go very far on the RB compared to the cdjs. Not enough weight behind it.
I got a bit confused when you said that rb has inbuilt soundcard, does that mean sb2 doesn't have soundcard? Do i have to buy a soundcard to play through headphones and speakers at the same time with the sb2? thanks
+Trinax11 sorry I maybe didn't phrase that quite right. Yes you can use the sb2 without buying an external soundcard however the RB can take advantage of the laptops internal soundcard so you can route the master out of the laptop speakers. This means you don't necessarily need monitor speakers to be able to play with the DDJ RB. All the controllers here have an RCA master out and don't need an external sound card as well. Sorry for the confusion. Hope that helped.
Crossfader Did u notice one of the soundcards beeing better than the other one? I am coming from a Behringer cmd studio 4a which had a lower quality one with less gain output
+Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz not particularly. As they're designed for home use with a small speaker set up none have an amazing soundcard and output level. They all work fine but there is a noticeable difference if you jump up to something like the DDJ RR or equivalent.
So like the pioneer RB but what would be the point in buying it if the pitch adjust is that small that you carnt really beat match properly with it... surely that's the main aim in dj'ing ??
Great video! I just want to get into Rekordbox software but I heard the system is unstable and even crashes! I would use the RB to analyse my tracks and then put them on a usb stick in case I was asked to play on the pioneer nexus range. So, is Rekordbox software stable? Thanks!
+Akinkunmi Cook were. It having any issues with the current version. I've been using it on a MacBook so can't speak for windows in particular. Rekordbox are very fast at bringing out updates too if anything needs changing.
I am thinking about buying one from the the DDJ-SB2, DDJ-RB or DDJ-RR. I'm pointing more towards the SB2 or RB due to budget issues. I know that the RR is great, but I don't need to use my controller as a stand-alone mixer. I have also some issues about the cueing on the RB as there is no cue/master knob as on the other two. I normally mix using my headphones and not through the monitors. Does the master interefere a lot with headphones level on the RB? As regards the SB2 and as a mac user, I found some complications on the controller not being recognised by the El Capitan OSX on macs. Was this problem resolved? And what about this problem on the RB?
Excelent video, but i'been looking that "Numark Mixtrack Platinum " it's actually at the same price than DDJ-RB , can you tell me if i it's better than the others? thank you
+Ivo Mele I would still group the platinum in the Numark category. Yes it's basically an upgraded version of the mixtrack pro 3. They have made the interface on the hardware more user friendly by shifting the eqs and adding a display to the centre of the jog wheels. It still ships with serato dj intro not the complete version but you can access up to 4 decks on it. Still remember there are only two channels though so it will problem a tricky task to do anything worthwhile with decks 3 & 4.
I've heard that SB2 also has an installed soundcard, and is the soundcard cruical for quality djing? And can you actually manage with the Serato Intro version or will it at some point become necessary to upgrade?
+Milo MHL you can manage with intro no problem but it is limited as far as dj softwares go. Once you decide to start using more performance features or even record your sets you will need to upgrade. As far as soundcards go they all have a soundcard that is able to send audio to a master out RCA. But none have any inputs. The RB is the only one that can use your laptops soundcard to split the audio from the headphones and master. Unless you decide to use virtual dj which can do that with all 3 I think. (Haven't tested personally).
+Tejas Vij hi there. We haven't done a comparison on those units. Something to bare in mind though is that they're pretty different down to the fact one is a stand alone unit and can be used solely with usb's and the other is a huge controller which needs a laptop to work. The RZX has way way way more features but it's huge and not as transportable as the RX. The RZX is great if you're looking to start VDJ'ing as it's built with that in mind. Were there any questions in particular you wanted answering?
Thanks for writing back. I wanted to make I have a future proof hardware and size isn't the concern. Which of the 2 should be future proof. Also, I do know the standard diff of one being usb dependent and other totally independent. How much these cost ?
+Tejas Vij talking about it being future proof we are almost certain Pioneer will be releasing the next model of the XDJ RX very soon. Could be something to hold out for. As far as the rekordbox software goes the RZX is the king of it. You can literally access every single feature that's in the software right there on the controller. Plus it's got those on board displays which are great. This all makes it pretty future proof as the rekordbox software isn't going to drastically change its features overnight, and if they did this controller has enough features for it to handle any changes. The XDJ RX feels quite limited compared to this controller however the price tag matches that. In the U.K. The XDJ RX is £1319 and DDJ RZX is £2869 so a huge difference in price there.
+James Stha like we said in the video they're both great for different reasons. If you're deciding between those two then have a bigger look into the software. Serato vs rekordbox. The serato dj intro version is a much simpler program to use if you're a beginner dj but know that you will have to upgrade and spend money at some point to get that full version. Rekordbox has so much built in to it but can be confusing for new Dj's. At the same time though if you're looking to take DJing seriously and plan to stick with it the RB and rekordbox would be a great match, purely for all the extra features. We have online courses for both controllers available. These would be perfect if you're struggling once you get started, or need some help learning to DJ with either. Let us know if you have any further questions.
I've been playing around with virtual DJ for a while now without a controller. But I've want to buy a controller which one you I get. The ddj sb2 or ddj rb???
They will work with Traktor as they're all midi controllers but you would have to either map the controls out yourself or try to find a mapping to download from the internet from a third party.
Would you recommend the DDJ RB or The Numark Platinum ? My main reason for wanting the DDJ RB is the full version of RB software that comes with it And my main reason for NOT wanting the Numark Platinum is the jog wheel issues (Left primarily) & complaints about the longevity of the device PLS HELP !!!!
Ok so all of the controllers will work with Traktor but you will have to map the controller out yourself to the software. There are some mappings you may be able to download from third party's online which may be worth looking at. Basically think about it as the more buttons, pads and knobs you have the more ability you will have to map out all the features within Traktor. There is a mapping for the SB2 which I have found here but not tested personally: www.traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=985
Bro I checked on Amazon for mixtrack pro 3, it also comes with no RCA output. How to do the connection in that case? I mean do I need to have some extra audio interface for sound output?
Any issues with using the serato that comes with them permanently? I really dont want to buy software if i dont need to. I just want to mix i dont need the extra features.
No issue's at all. Its perfect for basic mixing between tracks, and using hot cue's/basic looping. The complete version of Serato just adds better and more effects, ability to save more hot cues, beat jump, roll and saved loops features and the ability to record your sets amongst a few other things. But you can DJ no problem with Serato DJ Intro.
I am guessing I could use something else to record the sets, def would want to do that but other than that it sounds like the way to go. Thanks for the reply!
Like to point out some cons with the SB2 he didn’t mention The knobs start to wear out overtime not centering properly The jog wheels will wear out as well and feel a bit cheap Don’t bother 4 channel mixing it’s a disaster The search knob is way too close to the load buttons I’ve accidentally hit them way too many times Other than those It’s a fantastic controller would definitely recommend
Hey crossfader i need your help Im a beginner dj and i have the numark mixtrack pro 3 and im having problems with the audio and songs when i connect my controller to my laptop and turn on serato they dont play and there is no sound please help me thank you
I went a DJ store recently and the guy recommended me the DDJ RB instead of the DDJ SB2 because the DDJ RB has more features compared to DDJ SB2. So forget DDJ SB2 according to the guy at the store but what about Trektor S2 vs DDJ RB rekordbox? PS I'm a beginner
This would stem down to the software to be honest. Traktor and Rekordbox are both great pieces of software. The S2 is a very solid controller with all the features you need as a beginner. Personally I prefer Rekordbox software even down to the fact that its well supported and Pioneer are constantly working on it. The only benefit I would say Traktor have over Rekordbox is that if you're a producer all the Native Instruments equipment works really well with Traktor so building up to some form of live set with extra musical elements is better and easier to set up using Traktor.
+DJ Govind you cannot use Serato with RB but you can use Rekordbox with SB2. However the labelling on the SB2 will be wrong for Rekordbox but it works.
@scupakus Lol if you think carrying a sound card in your pocket is a pain in the ass you obviously don't know what it is like to lug around a crate of vinyl.
I think now it’s worth looking at the SB3 as it’s the updated model. Both are great options. I think the Serato DJ lite software is great for beginners because it’s nice and simple to use but the rekordbox software is more futureproof as it’s the complete version of the software. Both controllers are basically the same shell but the SB3 has extra pad scratching and mixing performance pads instead of things like the pad fx on the DDJ rb. We have online courses suitable for both however so if you need any extra help after buying just let us know.
+Bunny Superville yeah it sure would. We didn't have access to one so couldn't add it to the comparison but it's a great intro controller for anybody intending to use traktor.
+Alexander Richrath like we said no particular one is the best. Our personal favourite is the DDJ RB as you get so much for your money. The other two you only get serato dj intro which is great for a beginner but you will have to spend more money to upgrade your software eventually.
Well they are now all supported with Virtual DJ. I would jump to say that the DDJ RB has access to more features right there on the controller compared to the other two meaning I would edge toward that controller even though the tempo adjust is very small. You would then have the complete version of Rekordbox as well in case you ever decided to switch software. Just remember the points between the 3 different controllers made in this video pretty much apply to virtual DJ as well.
Hey! I’m just about to buy my very first gear, for which I’m thinking of the new SB3. However, I’d like to know whether these small decks can be connected to bigger speakers or not, because I don’t want it for home practice (I mean only) Do you know anything about it?
how do you activate and deactivate the vinyl mode on the pioneer ddj rb jog wheels?so that when you touch the faceplate of the jog wheels it doesnt stop a track
+Allan Muganhiri so the DDJ RB always starts in vinyl mode. You can assign a shortcut key within the software by going to the rekordbox settings. Clicking keyboard. Opening up the deck you want to switch vinyl mode off. Navigate down to 'vinyl mode' shortcut and assign a keyboard shortcut. Hope this helps.
Don’t buy none of these used except the sb cuz the rb needs a license key which is 130.00 plus whatever u paid for the controller prob 180 used sb can use Serato intro free and the numark I believe after 30 days u need to purchase a key as well just fyi
Hi Crossfader, need some advice. I'm currently using a Hercules RMX controller running virtual DJ pro. I'm thinking of getting a new controller but am really torn between the mixtrack pro 3, the mixtrack platinum & the Ddj rb. Is the Ddj rb compatible with Virtual Dj pro, I know the mixtrack pro 3 is. I'm comfortable using vdj but am open to new software. I do mostly mobile gigs with some club gigs also
+Arthur all of the details are here. You will need certain licenses for it to fully work. Without the licenses it only works for 10 mins at a time. www.virtualdj.com/documents/Pioneer%20DDJ-SB2%20-%20VirtualDJ%20Operation%20Guide.pdf

You can put auto loops in the first OR second bank of pad effects. I personally love the RB because it is straight forward and worth your money.
ljay Yup really good for the price!
I'd go for the Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 or Platinum because of the larger pitch fader, it encourages you to manually beat match.
Lorne Wright that's right
Honestly, i was using Techincs with records since 1993, and one day i decided to get into the controller world. You can actually kind of do an auto loop on the fx channel. Just select "slip loop" and use the beat buttons to make the loop longer or shorter.
I feel that the DDJ-SB2 is kinda out of place, its a 4 deck controller, would it not be more able to compare to the Mixtrack platinum since it is a 4 deck controller. The DDJ-RB has the trim controls, an an 8 button pad for samples rather then the 4. also the DDJ-RB has a better sound card compared to the Mixtrack Pro 3. what for? if you fucking up on rb, you will fuck up on anything else.

Thank you helped a lot pushed me in the direction of the mist rack pro 3 you gained a sub
RB is the best, full Recordbox is included. Just wonderful.
I love my RB's converting from Traktor to Rekordbox was a very smooth transition. But Serato is the industry standard. For mobile dh's I recommend rekordbox (RB) for club use the (SB2)
Will RB support Traktor.?!

raquille1 I'm already saving money to buy a controller of my own. Technics is a turntable right? I don't do scratching or use turntables
thanks crossfader
Thanks man i really needed the info on the numark pro mixtrack I'm getting it pretty Soon
Surprised this analysis did not include Mixtrack Platinum instead of Mixtrack Pro 3 - or even in addition. The Mixtrack Platinum is in same price range now.

makhay quite right, I guess Numark trackmix platinum is the best except it comes with serato DJ intro 😔
Great Intro Controllers..

+MovieCaveDave aka MCD yeah the SX2 is amazing. So good for the price and packed full of features.
MovieCaveDave your typing style is AIDS
Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 is a bargain for $199 on Amazon today
Great content
Great video :)
It's 's not completely true that you need a laptop or computer for these controllers.
+Greeny great point. Thanks for sharing your tips with everyone :)
I just ordered the RB and am getting ready to start learning just wondering if I need a laptop to start or if a desktop computer to practice and learn
a laptop and desktop are the same thing the laptop is just portable......
+Robin Niven Sr. Either will work fine!
Thanks good information
+Crossfader , I understand that overall, the consensus is that the RB controller is the better option for beginners. But in terms of growth, would you recommend the SB2 over the RB? I am a beginner with little knowledge on DJ controllers, but I am looking to purchase one that would allow me to grow and won't restrict me in the long run.
Your feedback would be appreciated.
thanks! man you helped me alot
Foremost: thanks for the video . I need to know if it's compulsory to buy Serato dj software or just download the serato dj online and get started ??
From what I understand the SB2 is now compatible with Rekordbox AND Serato.
Hey! thanks for this video, mate.
Crossfader: Thank you.
Yeah it's true u just plug in and play with vdj
@Crossfader no you don't, you get a 1 month free trial u just keep making a new account when the month is up.
Thank You JH
Excellent presentation.
Can i trust the website for the DDJ RB??
+Crossfader do they work with virtual dj?
Yes they do all work with Virtual DJ now as well. Up until recently the DDJ RB didn't so you may have to make sure you have the latest version of virtual DJ if you buy the DDJ RB.
With the RB. Does it sound similar to the pioneer CDJ's when you do like a backspin and wheel up the track?
+Sub Skrill You can successfully perform a backspin on a most equipment if you keep in control of the jog wheel while doing it and control the speed of it. However if you’re aiming to just spin the jog wheel and let go it won’t go very far on the RB compared to the cdjs. Not enough weight behind it.
Which has the best sound-quality for recording the mixes?
Which one can I buy from all of three?
i wish the Pioneer DDJ SB2 had the pitch control like the newmark, that would seal the deal for me.
Yeah it would be nice to see a bigger pitch control on it 100%
xy W I mean I haven't really found it to be a big deal as you can change the pitch range. But it can be a hassle in the middle of a set
Dat mic popping @4:10 tho.
Great video anyways :)
Crossfader thanks for the clarification! :)
I'm thinking ddj rb or ddj 400 which one should I get??
I was in your same boat! Come back to this thread to thank me later
DDJ-RR review? 😁😁 Thanks for video great stuff 👍👍
+David Tramacchi no problem. We will get our hands on an RR and do a full review.
Pioneer DDJ-RB is best
Dark Parodi SK no the sb2 is better
@@secubing44 Reasons?
Excelent video, but i'been looking that "Numark Mixtrack Platinum " it's actually at the same price than DDJ-RB , can you tell me if i it's better than the others? thank you
+Ivo Mele I would still group the platinum in the Numark category. Yes it's basically an upgraded version of the mixtrack pro 3. They have made the interface on the hardware more user friendly by shifting the eqs and adding a display to the centre of the jog wheels. It still ships with serato dj intro not the complete version but you can access up to 4 decks on it. Still remember there are only two channels though so it will problem a tricky task to do anything worthwhile with decks 3 & 4.
ok thanks so much! you win a follower
So the Rekordbox softwer work on all of the controllers ??
+Christel Mchailah not it works with the RB and SB2. It will midi map to the Numark Mixtrack pro 3 but it's not just plug and play.
+Christel Mchailah note* if you got the SB2 you would have to purchase the rekordbox licence key to use rekordbox with this controller.
You can flip mad shows with the Numarks. They are all the same. If you know what you're doing.
great video....helped
but one question
can i get the sb2 work with virtual dj 7 pro??
+ANDY yes the DDJ sb2 should work with virtual dj no problem.
virtual dj 7???
do u have the mapping file for it??
and can you explain mi how to get it to work with it?
thanks.
Which is the best when you want to play live
I have a sb2 and the right cue button(to choose which channel to listen on headphone) next to the filter knob stays on. Is there a way to fix that??
Does the SB 2 also need sound box?
Hello, Have you compared the Pioneer XDJ - RX vs. Pioneer DDJ-RZX? If yes, could you share the link. Thanks.
Can you use Serato with the RB?
+Mark Nicholson no you can only use rekordbox or virtual Dj with it.
Thank you, I am currently leaning towards the DDJSB2 or the DDJSR2
Which controller should i buy ddjsb2/ddj Rb
Let us know if you have any further questions.
what are the compromises with the numark mixtrack pro 3?
BUY THE NEW DDJ-400!!!
I've been playing around with virtual DJ for a while now without a controller. But I've want to buy a controller which one you I get. The ddj sb2 or ddj rb???
Are they work with Traktor Pro?
They will work with Traktor as they're all midi controllers but you would have to either map the controls out yourself or try to find a mapping to download from the internet from a third party.
Crossfader thank you for your fast answer and for the informative video :)
Would you recommend the DDJ RB or The Numark Platinum ?
My main reason for wanting the DDJ RB is the full version of RB software that comes with it
And my main reason for NOT wanting the Numark Platinum is the jog wheel issues (Left primarily) & complaints about the longevity of the device
PLS HELP !!!!
What is the best controller to use with Traktor software. I don't like this serato or rekordbox software but I would like to buy numark or pioneer ?
Ok so all of the controllers will work with Traktor but you will have to map the controller out yourself to the software. There are some mappings you may be able to download from third party's online which may be worth looking at. Basically think about it as the more buttons, pads and knobs you have the more ability you will have to map out all the features within Traktor.
There is a mapping for the SB2 which I have found here but not tested personally: www.traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=985
Crossfader thanks mate
DJFunkyJunky pioneer
Bro I checked on Amazon for mixtrack pro 3, it also comes with no RCA output. How to do the connection in that case? I mean do I need to have some extra audio interface for sound output?
That will be just the Mixtrack 3. The Mixtrack Pro 3 has an rca master output.
Crossfader thanks bro I am from India. Your videos has helped me so much. Thank you for the concern.
Like to point out some cons with the SB2 he didn’t mention
The knobs start to wear out overtime not centering properly
The jog wheels will wear out as well and feel a bit cheap
Don’t bother 4 channel mixing it’s a disaster
The search knob is way too close to the load buttons I’ve accidentally hit them way too many times
Other than those It’s a fantastic controller would definitely recommend
Hey crossfader i need your help
Im a beginner dj and i have the numark mixtrack pro 3 and im having problems with the audio and songs when i connect my controller to my laptop and turn on serato they dont play and there is no sound please help me thank you
Can i use the pioneer ddj-sb2 for an outdoor party with power speakers? Thank you!
What about sound processing quality build quality, durability?
Sound processing is the same
I went a DJ store recently and the guy recommended me the DDJ RB instead of the DDJ SB2 because the DDJ RB has more features compared to DDJ SB2.
+Crossfader thanks a lot for the response. I might go for rekordbox
can we use serato software on ddj rb and record box with sb2?
+DJ Govind you cannot use Serato with RB but you can use Rekordbox with SB2. However the labelling on the SB2 will be wrong for Rekordbox but it works.
How do they compare with traktor S2 mk3?
I think I will buy the mixtrack pro 3 because I love the logo
BROKOLI CUBIQUE that's a pretty poor reason bro lol
its cheaper to buy non-pro mixtrack 3 and just buy a usb soundacrd for the ability to cue tracks
its also pain in the ass to carry two pieces of gear instead of one, out of those 3 rb is obvious winner
its not that great
@scupakus Lol if you think carrying a sound card in your pocket is a pain in the ass you obviously don't know what it is like to lug around a crate of vinyl.
should i buy the DDJ RB or the DDJ SB2?
I think now it’s worth looking at the SB3 as it’s the updated model. Both are great options. I think the Serato DJ lite software is great for beginners because it’s nice and simple to use but the rekordbox software is more futureproof as it’s the complete version of the software. Both controllers are basically the same shell but the SB3 has extra pad scratching and mixing performance pads instead of things like the pad fx on the DDJ rb.
We have online courses suitable for both however so if you need any extra help after buying just let us know.
Just buy the Numark platinum it’s a 4 deck controller with a digital interface in the jog wheels and it’s the same price
RB or SB-2 ? ? ?
Bro I am used to with Virtual dj sftware. So what is the compatible dj controller for the beginner with virtual dj?
Nearly all enrty level controllers are compatible with Virtual DJ. All of these included!
would the NI Traktor S2 fall under this category?
+Bunny Superville yeah it sure would. We didn't have access to one so couldn't add it to the comparison but it's a great intro controller for anybody intending to use traktor.
So...What should i get as a beginner? which one is the Best?
+Alexander Richrath like we said no particular one is the best. Our personal favourite is the DDJ RB as you get so much for your money. The other two you only get serato dj intro which is great for a beginner but you will have to spend more money to upgrade your software eventually.
For virtual dj, wich of them is better?
Well they are now all supported with Virtual DJ. I would jump to say that the DDJ RB has access to more features right there on the controller compared to the other two meaning I would edge toward that controller even though the tempo adjust is very small. You would then have the complete version of Rekordbox as well in case you ever decided to switch software. Just remember the points between the 3 different controllers made in this video pretty much apply to virtual DJ as well.
I have the sb2 I can’t use the serato pro with it how can you help
Hey! I’m just about to buy my very first gear, for which I’m thinking of the new SB3. However, I’d like to know whether these small decks can be connected to bigger speakers or not, because I don’t want it for home practice (I mean only) Do you know anything about it?
The output is RCA so you can get various cables that will connect to bigger sound systems from an RCA cable. It depends on your speaker set up really.
how do you activate and deactivate the vinyl mode on the pioneer ddj rb jog wheels?so that when you touch the faceplate of the jog wheels it doesnt stop a track
Hope this helps.
ddj rb or mpro 3?
do any of the platters light up
+djduckyduck no none of them light up.
djduckyduck yea every
Does serato dj have auto gain knob. since Mixtrack pro 3 don't have gain knob will the software do the job? Thx
Theirs 3 displays in serato dj intro?!🤔
Don’t buy none of these used except the sb cuz the rb needs a license key which is 130.00 plus whatever u paid for the controller prob 180 used sb can use Serato intro free and the numark I believe after 30 days u need to purchase a key as well just fyi
I had the ddjsb2 with algoriddim dj pro2 they were perfect together
RB is the best for everyone just go for it
thx bro
Hi Crossfader, need some advice. I'm currently using a Hercules RMX controller running virtual DJ pro. I'm thinking of getting a new controller but am really torn between the mixtrack pro 3, the mixtrack platinum & the Ddj rb. Is the Ddj rb compatible with Virtual Dj pro, I know the mixtrack pro 3 is. I'm comfortable using vdj but am open to new software. I do mostly mobile gigs with some club gigs also
crossfader
can i use the ddj sb2 with virtual dj 8?
+Arthur yes you can :)
Crossfader ok thank you but It is necessary To make settings To connect the ddj sb2 with virtual dj 8?
+Arthur all of the details are here. You will need certain licenses for it to fully work. Without the licenses it only works for 10 mins at a time. www.virtualdj.com/documents/Pioneer%20DDJ-SB2%20-%20VirtualDJ%20Operation%20Guide.pdf
Crossfader
ok thank you :)
What about RB's master tempo lock.?! Is there any keys or buttons or wht about that.?! cz I can't find any buttons to lock master tempo.!
+Prajwal Rao there aren’t any buttons for it but you can turn it on and off within the software.
I like that
Can i Use The RB on Serato ?
+DJ Theone were afraid you can't use the DDJ RB with Serato.
Crossfader ok Thx Cross anyway the REKORDBOX isn't bad
