Greetings! I don't really know difference between those picking techniques since I am playing the way my hand feels natural and what works good for certain arpeggios. I think I am doing alternate picking, if I understood how it works right. Sorry, that I couldn't answer your question better.
P.S. - From watching footage from my old attempt, it seems I am doing the same pattern.

Economy picking is basically just whats natural, so its alternate picking but changing to up/downstrokes wherever its convenient, ie if youre moving up or down strings its easier to up/down pick whereas alternate pick if you stay on the same string
So basically just play whatever feels comfortable for the pattern, for a lot of the TK style arpeggios youll just feel a way to go through it that feels most comfortable
