Great job showing the beautiful things to see in the city! Austin is one of the prettiest cities out there in my opinion and I've made numerous videos on the city myself.
Austin is great for seniors who don't want to just retire on golf course somewhere. It's great to be around younger people but you won't find many of us seasoned citizens on 6th street. We most likey prefer other live music and all the other performing arts. Austin is one of the few cities if it's size to have a symphony, opera and ballet companies. The 55 and older group is one of the fastest growing demographics in the city. Austin is safe for city of its size. Austin tourism has come roaring back, hence the high hotel prices downtown. Austin will always have the feel of a younger college town with two large public universities serving the area, but it's much more than a college town these days.
Thank you very much for your video. I live in São Paulo Brazil and I will live in Austin as a visiting student at UT Texas at Austin for 6 months this year and I must confess that I am very excited and a little bit anxious at the same time. Life is made of challenges.
Austin is growing so fast. This video shows so many changes than when I used to visit there as a young adult back in the 90's hitting the nightlife. 😎 Trust it's a fun town for that crowd.
6th street was the best in my early 20s. Couldn’t catch me over there now. It’s also very humid this summer bc of all the rain. It’s usually not that humid but very hot.
Born and raised and I'm 40. It's very much family oriented as well. You just gotta know the city well enough to know the places in order to enjoy family time. Otherwise if your not familiar with our city, you will assume it's made for young people given the fact 6th street and surrounding streets is basically bar hopping.
Downtown and UT are just a small part of the city. Nice neighborhoods, still friendly people and family oriented. A bit of something for everybody, what the city has continued since the late 90s to be so popular. Now it's really pricier to live here too with a median price home in the city now topping 650K this summer according to the Austin board of realtors.
Yeah, you won't see bats in the daytime, unless they are sick or injured. Bats are nocturnal. It's well worth it to go at back at sunset, and then wait a bit. I feel like it's full dark when I''ve seen them.. It's amazing.
2 things you didn't mention. In Barton Springs, women are legally allowed to go topless there, I've done it. It's not uncommon either. Also, it is legally allowed to walk topless for women within Austin City Limits. Just for any women who want to go topless and be free. Also, there's a clothing optional area near Lake Travis called Hippie Hollow. You can go completely nude or stay clothed! This is coming from a proud born and raised Austinite. Also, just beware now of the Homeless people, they can get very mean.

With kids first time to U.S. go to Florida - Disney/Universal etc. It will cost a fortune but there are direct flights to Orlando from Europe. They will love it and remember it fondly. If Texas you could do Austin/San Antonio/Houston but Austin is a college town with not a lot of kids stuff to do. San Antonio has family friendly River Walk, Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas (one of the best Six Flags parks). Houston has Space Center Houston and Galveston Beach. Just remember it's hot as hell in Texas in the summer combined with humidity. I'm a Houston boy and love exploring Texas but it's a hard sell for kids. Young adults yes. Especially Austin with all the bars catering to the college crowd.

Overrated city. Needs 30 more years. And Austin is not the 11th largest metro. Not even close to 9 million people buddy. That’s the size of metro Chicago. Austin is another college city like Columbus and Raleigh.
Austin is not the 11th largest metro, it's the 11th largest city by population just short of a million people about to overtake San Jose which is the 10th largest U.S city. The five county Austin area metro including city pop is 2.5 million. One if the fastest growing metros in the country. Of course all of Texas other big city metros are also on that same list.
Correction: the Austin metro area pop is around 2.4 million, not 9.8 million which is more like the population of the DFW metroplex. The San Antonio metro is around 2.6 million, the Austin and San Antonio metros which are steadily growing toward each other up and down I-35 together is around 5 million people.
Not even Houston being the 4th largest city in the states have 9 plus millions in the metropolitan area. You got the wrong data buddy. GREAT video though.
Since you are in Texas, shouldn't you be wearing a cowboy hat? Austin's metro is 2.3 million, the whole state is just under 30 million. Austin's climate is semi-arid and its the live music capital. Lately it has been a tech and relocation boomtown. In my opinion its getting too big. Are you going to introduce your travel friend?
What an age-ist thing to say. The last time I went to Austin, we went to that very street he is saying is for young people. I went specifically for the old buildings, but there were shops and food places. Also some great music comes out of that area. Kat Edmonson is a great example of that. Why does he think old people don't like music? I don't drink but that's a health choice, not an age choice. Lots of older people do drink. Maybe what this guy is really saying is, "Hey we don't want you old people crowding our scene." Shut up. I'm going to watch the rest of the video, because he started out right in an area I really like. Maybe he has some more places an old person might dare to go, but I'm also going to give it a thumbs down, because he's so rude to old people. He might be old himself one day.
