    👏👏👏👏👏. Echoing every thing that you mentioned. From the Pressure cooker, tongue cleaner, light towels and Indian Bedsheets !! The most important part of buying jeans (Levis) in India and other western clothes, especially winter wear here. Very informative for first time travellers 👏👏.

    Watching this video again : I suggest you do not bring ANY food or drinks to Belgium, in particular home made dishes. Customs is pretty strict about food imports and anything forbidden (especially meat and dairy products) will simply be confiscated and you might end up with a fine (again). After Customs spending hours sifting through all the food stuff you brought along.
    Coughing syrup (as a liquid) could also bring problems. Can be bought at any Belgian pharmacist without prescription.
    A better solution would be to google for the nearest Indian shop(s) near your destination and get anything you need there as soon as you arrive.
    You have to accept that you are not in India anymore and will have to miss some things from home. We Belgians have to accept we can't get our frieten/frites anywhere else and that is much worse.

    This has been very helpful, Mansee. I was wondering what will be your recommendation on: how many strips of medicines should I ideally get?

    • @bonjourmansee
      @bonjourmansee  Год назад +1

      Thanks Saikkat! I recommend to get just 1 strip of medicines for fever/cold as you will experience when you arrive here first time and experience a season change. (Please take of care of your prescribed medicines at your own knowledge). Don't carry a lot of these because they get expired with time & the body usually adapts :) Happy Journey!

    Thanks a ton for the very informative video Mansee. Planning to move to Mechelen, Belgium next year and all this information is very helpful! Can I ask you to please make a video on the amount of precious (read gold) jewelry that we can bring in our carry ons as well as spices such as opium or food grains such as a certain variety of rice? I know many countries don't permit. I see you covered the issue about prescription drugs. How about special illness related drugs? How many strips can we carry? Is it going to be confiscated if we bring in a year's supply? Many thanks!!

    • @bonjourmansee
      @bonjourmansee  Год назад

      Hello Manny B, Thanks for watching the video i am glad it helped you. You can carry a decent amount of jewelleries, make sure its not way to much otherwise you might face some questions at the custom and they might ask you to provide original purchase proofs, my suggestion is to carry minium(i have 0) real gold jewelleries here for your peace of mind. Please DO NOT CARRY OPIUM. other spices and grains are fine. please keep in mind that you are having all the purchases proof so that in case someone ask you at the airport, you can show them and justify that all these things are for your personal use and not for any commercial purpose. For the medicines you have doctors prescription where it is mentioned that all the medicines which you are carrying is for your own use and they are for so and so illness.

    • @bonjourmansee
      @bonjourmansee  Год назад +1

      If its a decent quantity just 1kg each with bill...yes we can, I also did back in 2018. But honestly, it was not much of use, I regret doing that today-I personally think I could have used that weight I was allotted to bring something else. Indian groceries are available easily in Brussels, Antwerp and all big cities of Belgium. You can order your grocery to your doorstep if its for minimum 30 euros from websites like indian spice dot be or even Gangandeep Indian store delivers at home.

    Watch out with the "cheap stuff" from India and more likely from China, especially if it concerns known brand names. If they are counterfeit and Customs finds out you are in trouble. The items will be confiscated and you will get a fine. Not a good start.

      Your journey is just round the corner, congratulations ! For house hunt I have always relied on 'immoweb' for all these years. Try it. On facebook Indian community updates accomodation on common groups like 'Indians in Belgium/Brussels' , there are also groups like 'Brussels Rent' but they are more often filled with scammers. If I am assuming right- your office is near Zaventem area - Indian food tiffin there might not be very easy to find - but initially be prepared to cook your own meals. Tip: locally more popular are fresh baguettes 🥖 they call it sanwiches..if you are a veggie, simply say 'un sandwiche vegetarien s'il vous plait' 😉All the best for your journey.
