      Yes, I agree. Or find a local prison who teaches knitting and crochet; those programs and what they do for inmates is amazing. Along with the people who teach those classes. You may want to consider WHY you have so much yarn, because methinks, it's not just about the crocheting.

    This is by far the most interesting crochet video I’ve ever seen! I LOVE seeing all your WIPs, stacks of grannies, half-finished blankets, etc. Your colors and combinations of colors are all so beautiful and inspiring!
    (… also, it’s wonderful to know that I’m not alone in having so many unfinished projects! 😆)

    Have you ever thought of donating the finished blankets to a women’s shelter? She’s got yarn 2 collects blankets for Boggy Creek which is a camp for disabled kids.
    Just a couple of suggestions to help you clear out some of your stash.

    • @kimbo500
      @kimbo500 6 месяцев назад +7

      Great idea! When I learned how to crochet, I gifted 1 baby blanket to a family member, and have donated every item I've made since then (2015) to hospitals or missions. I have graciously accepted almost all of my yarn from those who have stopped their crafting, but wanted to donate to the same. It's a win-win for me, and also for the individual who chose to donate the yarn. I also ask if they would like a photo of the items prior to going to the recipients. The smiles I see, warms my heart. They feel so good that their yarn turned into these creations being donated. Thanks for leaving your suggestion!! 💕

    I've been crocheting for over 50 years now, and I, in no way have as much yarn as you, lol! I make pet blankets out of my scraps(they work up fast, and animals don't care what colors go with what, lol). We have plenty for our own cats. They're very welcome at cat and dog foster homes. Some vets like them, and so do pet rescue organizations. I've got far too many afghans to make them for myself, or my family anymore. I've made queen sized bedspreads out of crochet cotton, curtains, etc.(tedious, but beautiful). Enough crap about me. Anyway, I've enjoyed this video, and you have a new sub!

    I recently come across a pattern making large baskets using 7 stands of mixed weight yarns but all from the same color family. The finished item has a tweedy look.
    You could try something similar, make several in a variety of colors to collect and sort your yarn scraps. They would be pretty and practical in your yarn studio. I think you would be able to hang them on the wall even with a sturdy hook. When a basket gets full you will have collected enough to start a new project.

It started with Autumn colors and handed those out right before the Thanksgiving Season and continued throughout the Fall making all kinds of colored for men and some colors for ladies, and some matching beanies and scarfs.
