    Thank you for not sugar coating this review! It's hard to find reviews that are honest and actually cover the real consumer issues/drawbacks to these products.

      And over 2 W in standby - I‘m not sure this is per panel - if so, almost 7W standby in the starter set with 3 panels
      For 250 bucks the technology should be state of the art

      I read it takes around 2 minutes to boot up and connect to WIFI after a power loss. Better hope no one accidently flips the switch. They couldn't put better hardware in a $250 system?

    Hi readers, and Shane. We just installed the skylight and loving it. We just hired a handyman who did a good job. And this is how I solved the switch issue. All across the house I replaced the regular (dumb) switches by connecting the 2 wires (so always on) in the switch box. Then I covered the switch box holes with the Aqara H1 switches, that screws in perfectly closing the holes, and is the same dimension as the switches. Then i control the Aqara switches over homekit.

    I love Nanoleaf's stuff, it's seriously cool! But ngl (not gonna lie), my Nanoleaf bulbs have been acting funky lately. I gotta reset them like, once or twice a week, and I keep thinking it's my Wi-Fi, but I'm starting to doubt it. For the price tag, you shouldn't have to deal with this much trouble. Hopefully Nanoleaf can fix this with an app update or something, or maybe give us some better troubleshooting tips!
    Thank you for sharing and being so cool!

    • @Dactylonian
      @Dactylonian 11 месяцев назад +1

      Similar problem for me with the bulbs. We have 6 bulbs and 4 of them periodically say I need to connect them. When I try, it says you did this in another app so go there. So I go to Home and re-scan the code. It’s like our setup just forgets these bulbs after a couple weeks.

    Very slick looking product Shane. I kinda dig the Live Premier video release.

      @uniqueflh2941 11 месяцев назад

      Hope you have a great day too@@ShaneCreates - Hopefully someone from #Nanoleaf is paying attention to the reviews...along with the Comments Sections. My ideal installation would involve like 19 total panels - so I would order the 12-pack AND the 9-pack (and I would used the leftover panels for a closet).
      While pretty much every reviewer makes several comments about the cost of the product...it was not all that shocking to me when I saw the price. BUT...I would expect the product to work exceptionally well at this price point. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case. It would be nice (as I mentioned in the Live Premier Chat) if @Nanoleaf would offer a 'meaningful' Promo Code, at least to Member/Subscribers of Sponsored Reviewer Channels. I'm unsure of how to effectively tag them in RUclips Comments...but a good Promo Code would absolutely help offset some of the hassles/limitations that are being reported.
      Just my opinion.

    They are hard as heck to align up correctly. Even straight line is a factor if the room is small. The more panels you add the more the alignment issue increases. Also there is a pronounced shadow in the center of the panels.

    These lights are really cool. Nanoleaf makes some great products but they always have issues. Wasnt surprised to hear you already had trouble with them not connecting. The price seems too high and to know they won’t work flawless makes me hold off. I have a few sets of different shapes and lines and have had issues with them all. My ocd wouldn’t handle those spaces in your ceiling line up for the square. Will wait for Govee to make a similar product.

    Question for you. Where is that power setting to select for it to come on at the last setting used? I can’t find anything like that. I bought the 4D for my new tv and when I turn it on it’s always solid white. I want it to come on with the same mirroring settings each time but I have to go into the nanoleaf app to change it. It’s getting annoying.

      @@donaldlee6760 I Still love it. It have had some issues but seems to mostly been good. the times it has issues typically are when you turn the light on or off or from power goes out can glitch it out for a bit, but firmware might of fixed it but I've been scared to try not wanting it to glitch when its been working great. The only other issue I have is occasionally when creating a scene I may want to look at the more motions that they have sometimes it says can't connect to sever or something like that but its good and im not having that issue currently it seems like other newer Nanoleaf products I have are slightly more glitchy at the moment than those aka the new multi colored Strip lights, so I think its pretty good and I Still Love them and they worked and been realy good but like most things there are a couple glitches or bugs here and there.

When it worked I loved it but when it don't it will make you feel ripped off.

    I use smart bulbs with smart switches. All I do is create automation which turns the smart bulb on when the smart switch is turned on. When the light comes on, i can then continue to link any other automations.

    • @TyDaSpace
      @TyDaSpace 11 месяцев назад

      Yup. that's what I did with my nanoleaf recess lights in my office too. The lights are controlled by a motion sensor most of the time and if it gets turned off by the switch, my automation resets the state after 10 minutes if the switch is still off by turning on the light and turning off the recessed light. I hate the 'No Response" states from bulbs and lights because the light switch is turned off.

    Not Nanoleaf related, but what is that digital clock under your monitors?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  10 месяцев назад

      Good question. They do show up as a device you can add to the device sync for the 4D. However, after testing this, it seems that the Skylight is not being affected by the 4D. Perhaps a firmware update will fix this if it's an issue.

  • @8Arachne8

    Looks like it needs some improvements before it’s worth buying. As for lining them up, tile spacers might help. And here’s a prime use case for a smart switch that works with smart “bulbs.”
    Hopefully the NanoLeaf Sense+ Light Switch comes out soon, but better.

    I told myself to not buy anymore lighting or sensors if it doen’t support thread. To include more and more thread routers your network will become stable and responsive. I don’t have a clue why Nanoleaf made the decision to go for a wifi antenna.
    That got me thinking. It’s offcourse also possible to make a panel yourself with some wood, a blade of diffuser material and a thread enable ledstrip or bulb. OK you don’t get the flashy disco effects but who cares. In the end it’s much cheaper, more versatile and your thread network is improving.

  • @Dr_Cole
    @Dr_Cole 11 месяцев назад +1

    The panels and the way they transform the ceiling light from boring to amazing are great. They really set themselves apart from the market space with this product. And yet, I find myself really moving away from Nanoleaf mostly because of their horrible app. Nanoleaf needs to fire their software team and start over, as their physical products are the best out there. That said, and as others have noted, there are also a ton of misses: thread vs. WiFi (and only 2.4), no adaptive lighting, and too many dark spots make these way too overpriced. Moreover, we know that they will cut the price by 40% when the next major holiday comes around making early adopters feel ripped off.

    This would be perfect in my hallway as it only has a light at one end and I already have an Aqara light switch controlling that light.
