Great tip for a little lure bling! I've done this exact thing for decades, now the cat's outta the bag. My Q/D method was to cut some bulk tinsel I had around for other uses, thread it through eye of the hook about halfway, fold it over, even it up a bit and then slip a small piece of vinyl tubing over the eye onto the top of the tinsel to secure it. Takes literally seconds, no tying, gluing, muss, fuss or waste.
I like walking through the salt water tackle stores. There are lots of baits in these stores than can be used in bass fishing. There are lots of lure making materials there also. The salt water fly casting section has lots of materials.
Maumee, OH is just over an hour from where I am and there is some good fishing up that way too!! These look great and adding something like this can make a difference and it's always fun to modify tackle! Thanks Matt!!
5hats what I thought soon as you should the package. Man, right over a round bend for my weightless stick baits and whatnot. You're the man! Thanks again
Not sure what kind of tubing they use but a little heat to soften it may help it slide over the hook eye. I tie my jigs & feathered treble hooks and add a little bling to some baits. The other option is to use silicone rubber coneheads which Jann's sells. These are meant to add bling to just about any style of hook. There are many ways to use them and they are quite versatile. Being 20 minutes away from Jann's is dangerous for me.
I throw the bug most of the time on a texas rig with a hayabusa light wire flipping hook pegged on fluoro. The bug is of course the creature hawg. I have 7 colors but really use only 2 colors. These tinsel inserts might play flipping for a different look the bass have not seen. They are curious fish.
Matt, maybe you can enlarge the tube hole with a small drill bit or a heated nail. I might try your tinsel on the front of the 3.5” yamatanuki but I’d prefer regular skirting material. Do they offer the same tube design using regular skirting material? I’ve been threading 4-5 strands of silicone skirt strands through the eye of a 5/0 ewg hook and then Texas rig the yamatanuki and it really increases my bites over a plain yamatanuki. It give me more strands and be easier if I can just slip a skirted tube over the eye of the 5/0 ewg.
Those little tensile skirts are often used with Berkley Gulp and a hook on a dropper loop rig, and they use a bucktail jig on the bottom. That's a classic flounder rig and it catches lots of other fish. I used to use a longer version in front of rigged ballyhoo to troll for king mackerel. Those have a little bullet shaped metal thing with a hole in the center for the line and they look like the P Line ones that you showed but they're mylar so they flash a lot. It's cool to see you using saltwater stuff for bass. It's the opposite of what I do, watch bass videos and look for bass stuff to use in the saltwater.
Thanks, this looks interesting, I'll have to try it on something. Also, I didn't realize where Jann's Netcraft was until now, I've driven by there so many times, I'll have to stop in my next trip down South.
love that shop Matt, Ilive 10 miles away and work 1 mile away, yes, it's easy access charge card dangerous, been tweaking my spinnerbait game with their components for decades, good info thanks
The other day you presented a video and you were showing how to make soft split rings with braid just thinking here how about making one of those that slides thru your tubbing on your flash trailer and one side attaches to the hook and the other side too the lure, give it a try and hope it works 👍
Hey if you ever go back through Maumee Ohio which is next to Perrysburg Oh.. If you like Mexican food.. Go to El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant. They have the best Fajitas in the world!! Man I still wish I still lived there just for that restaurant!! But the Bass are much better here in Texas!! 🙂
Fun ti tinker i took a core tackle swim jiig a old spinnerbait cut off the head made a loop put a split ring on it hung the swim jig on took it out today caught 2lb large mouth now it doubles as a spinnerbait or swim jig
OMG THEY HAVE A STOREFRONT? My first netcraft order was probably 25 yeara ago as a teenager. Sucks its near toledo i'm in WV near the far other end of ohio.

Same here!
That's funny because I'm a saltwater guy and I look for bass stuff to use. And I watch bass videos for the same reason.
Flukes come in both fresh and salt water also the top water spook might be more the speed you are looking to cover water

Agreed

Right on
We used those all the time on our ballyhoo trolling rig - very effective
awesome!

Not a bad idea
Great little hack Matt thanks bud
You bet
I wonder if you could use it with a mushroom nail weight for the end of a neko rig. Great movement for spawning fish.
Worth a try!

that would be cool!
Remember what I always say.... "Dammit Matt!!!" 🤣🤣🤣 Another secret blown!

Sounds good!
did you try to put some fishing line through the eye of the treble hook and then you have something to pull it through the tinsel?
I didnt
Very cool 😎 Thanks for sharing, tackle tinkerer.
You bet
What trail will u fish next season

Good stuff Matt...
Thanks 👍

May I ask your age when you started fishing professionally?
Great video
30 at the pro level and 16 at local level
Could you slide it on the split ring of the treble hook , looks like a Buck tail
worth a shot
Do you think these adornments for various baits can enhance the effectiveness of them, or are they just experimenting tools?
yes
Looks like they would be good for mackerel rigs.
could be
@@MattStefanFishing I have Mack rigs that look just like that. They work very well. Thanks for all the great videos.
Matt maybe you could stretch that tubing with a knitting needle .Maybe even heat the needle up a bit.
potentially
Do they make a difference?
try it and find out. Im still playing around with it.
Good stuff 👍
Thanks 👍
Looks like a good spoon trailer
yep!
Thanks for the tip Matt. Looks like Jann's only charges'$3 for shipping. Time to spend more money that I don't have.
You bet!
Have you ever used a needle to thread your line through the skirt then tied your line to the hook and pushed the skirt down to your tying point?
Yes
@@MattStefanFishing thanks, I like to try different ways of doing things.
Been using Jann’s for years now
awesome
Cool. How can I get some
