I've had this bag for two years.
I end up having to watch this video every time I put it away.
I was at REI and a couple was looking at this bag, and the husband said, "it looks like a pain in the ... to put away." I told him some awesome gal on RUclips made a video. He watched the video and bought the bag!

Thank you! Just stuffing the duffel into the sack is like trying to put popped corn back into the kernel and results in a something looks like a lumpy bag of dead ferrets (not that I’d really know what that looks like). Your procedure makes it a lot easier and neater. I did refine it a bit by folding over the main flap of the duffel after you flip it over and before you start folding over the ends, if that makes sense. That makes it slightly neater and you don’t have to cram the flap into the stuff sack at the end. Thank you for posting because I don’t think I would have come up with a good way on my own!

If you have 2 bags you can have a competition who folds it first. Only problem is that noone wins... Great bag but difficult to fold. This video helped me at least 3 times so far and many times to come... If you remember: big opening open and side zipper closed, it's a good start.

There are two tricks which may come handy.
1. Fold the sides under the clipped handles, so it doesn't unfold during the process.
2. Use your legs to keep it compressed while closing the zip.

Everyone after trying to do this: “ah fuck it”
LOL they really shouldn't advertise the Patagonia Black Hole as "packable." It's a 2-person job. I asked the salesman at REI to help me, and we worked up a sweat trying to get it to fold up. He even said "they really aren't designed for this... once you open it once you'll probably never fold it up again." Except here's the thing: They DO advertise is as packable, and I tried folding up similar bags from Thule, Osprey, Eagle Creek, REI, and The North Face. Some had separate bags, some had a similar "self-pack" feature, but all of them were MUCH easier to compress into their carry bags.
😂 hope the video helped you step up to the challenge!
@@jbreitwieser the experience helped me steer away from buying the Black Hole! After comparing several, that one ranked at the very bottom for me. It does live up to it's name in terms of capacity, but the usability of the straps, and the attaching mechanisms, were also sub par compared to other bags.

I suggest charging people $25 per bag if someone asks to get this thing back into it's pouch because OUCH!!! My hands are on fire after doing this.
