The Mothman is just standing there... MENACINGLY! Also, I can't believe Sully actually got through the Tempting Tunnel! As we all know, nobody has ever got through the Tempting Tunnel before. Most certainly not on tape.
Yeah, that was absolutely spectacular. It was just as lucky as someone like Laurie getting the Tempting Tunnel, but no one would believe it if it happened on tape. On second thought... oh wait, never mind, Laurie never got the Tempting Tunnel. Just another case of the Mandela Effect.
Dom as Sherlock suddenly making the right predictions after getting rid of Jack the Ripper is so wonderful. He just needed one success to kick it all off lol
To be fair, it's a lot easier to guess your opponents moves the fewer pieces he has. Holmes is insanely imbalanced if your opponent doesn't have a mobile king on the board.
I think Holmes would be more balanced if u could use it to only predict a kings move. Once ripper was off the board his ability was wayyyy to overpowered
Or alternatively add a rule that you can't move Sherlock immediately after he has taken a piece using his ability. Makes you think if you actually want to predict a move correctly, if it would result in Sherlock getting taken next.
This was a classic, a must repeat, and dare I say it, having a tournament of this game should be the qualifier for the next Lord of the Board campaign. Winner goes on to challenge Sully for LOTB
Every player bringing one King of their own design, with refinement from Teri - but random king assignment throughout so you can't just pick one that you confidently know is powerful.
It can't idly pass through pieces (like normal chess) but since it is capturing a piece it would be valid (ofc in chess you land on the space, but this is checkers so you have to jump it).
dom has the energy specifically of an 20th century man who has been fired for going to far with his practice (mad scientist, detective, etc) in an excessive homoerotic horror movie
So what this video finally made click for me is that Sully has golden retriever energy and Dom has brooding cat energy. Thats why they go so well together.
at 21:00 sullivan casually gives dom his 4 pieces back and doesn't give back the queen. It almost felt intentional to distract dom in forgetting to ask for it specifically.
I don't believe Sullivan would do that. I'm pretty sure it just didn't occur to him that that was an option. I know it didn't occur to me until I read this comment.
@McBehrer Ah, I guess I missed that. Still, I'm sure it was more absent-minded than malicious on Sully's part. ...Then again, he did surprisingly well when he was the demon in Blood on the Clocktower. Maybe he secretly is a criminal mastermind, and the affable fool is just a persona! Truly devious. Dom should watch out!
The gambler from cosmic encounter would be great. You move it secretly up to three spaces and then tell your opponent a space, whether you moved there or not. If they call your bluff and you didn’t move there, then you lose a piece per space you actually moved of the opponent’s choice. If they say you bluffed when you didn’t, your opponent loses a piece of your choice. Unless, of course, you’re Jon Gracey, in which case you immediately lose if you have the gambler
Maybe there could be a single generic Cosmic Encounter player whose ability is randomly chosen when you claim it, and isn’t revealed to others until it triggers, like in the source game
Oh my god I’m going this for my next board game night. I’m picturing myself walking into next week session with a checkerboard under my arm and a big grin on my face…. Oh, they’re going to think I’m mad!!!
This is amazing, please do another one, maybe with a few new Kings. Feel like the cryptid from Cryptid could make a good one, and/or maybe the ghost/psychics from Mysterium? Edit: The Ship from Gravwell could also be another cool one maybe?
I learned something very valuable from this video and thats if i ever end up on the opposing side of a checkerboard with either of these lads with a million bucks on the line I'll have nothing to worry about.
The mothman only ever saying saying "I'm scary!" bit is so funny to me because even in folklore, scary he is not. The delivery also feels as much like a declaration as it does self-reassurance lol.
Dom repeatedly saying "I'm going to predict your move" with boastful confidence and getting it wrong every time is one of the funniest things I've seen this year 😂
I had to look this up cuz i thought, " ive never played that way before, and that is the stupidest rule ive ever heard" but you were right. However, as its a terrible rule, im glad they ignored it
This feels like a game far from future after archeologists have unveiled average board game collector's living room thrown around by a massive earthquake. All the paper rules and carboard boxes have rotted away, leaving only hundreds of strange plastic and wood pieces.
How about Draughts, but BotC? * Each counter is a BotC token. Players do not know which token is which. * One token will be the demon, three tokens will be minions, three tokens will be outsiders and the remaining 17 tokens will be townsfolk. * Each side must have at least one evil token. * When a token reaches the other side of the board, it's kinged - it's flipped over and its role activates, allowing the player to use the power once per turn. A player may only use one king's power per Day Phase. * The first night phase happens before either player takes a turn. When both players have had a turn OR when at least one piece is taken, the next Night Phase occurs. * The storyteller/s work through the entire Night Phase in a way to try and conceal who the demon is from both players. * (Optional) Players may receive a sheet of information each night, pertaining to which tokens are on their side. For example, if Sully has the Investigator, they will learn one of two pieces is a specific minion at the start of the game. * If a player can successfully identify the Demon by guessing instead of moving a token, they win. If they guess incorrectly, they must remove one of their own tokens from the board. The guessed piece is not revealed to the players if it is not the demon. * If a player reveals the Demon token by kinging it, neither player may guess for the Demon. The Demon moves as a kinged piece (as normal) but cannot be taken by the opponent. If the revealed Demon is the last piece on one side, the piece's owner loses.
Darth Vader: Moves one space in any direction, if there's a friendly piece adjacent or is removed and up to two adjacent enemy pieces are removed. If there are no friendly pieces, your opponent moves him one space
@14:35 Sully could move the forward piece to threaten a king himself: if Dom takes it, Sully's queen will move after a noise roll, or if Dom takes the queen, Sully gets to king as well.
Sully is the best because he's a gracious loser and a gracious winner. I know it's all comedy performances on some level, but it's still really delightful watching a person win and not be a jerk about it. ❤
6:23, Dom can immediately kill Sullivan's queen, can't he? The chess queen can move as a queen in chess, and the Nemesis queen is in direct line of attack.
Colonel Mustard (Cluedo)- When Col Mustard enters play, GM hands your opponent a set of weapon cards from Cluedo. Whenever one of your pieces is captured, you can predict the top card of the deck. If you're correct, the capturing piece is also removed from the board as they're arrested for murder.
House Rules is the only RUclips series I genuinely look forward to every month. Brilliant stuff! That being said, is there any chance of an uncensored patreon version. Exactly the same cut as this video but without the bleeps?
Loved this game! Fun idea. A Hit the Silk! king that adds hidden monetary values and a parachute to the reverse side of each opponent piece and to win the game the king has to capture enough money and a parachute from opponent pieces before making it back to the other side of the board.
There's was a part of me that was hopping for Sherlock to get trampled so that the official narrative is: Sherlock has been terrible at predicting Jack's moves, Watson (regular draughts piece) finally gets him and Sherlock gets trampled by a camel...
This is so much fun! I love how you guys mix all the different game pieces - it just makes it so unpredictable 😂. Also, can we talk about how hilarious the Mothman looks? Just standing there like he owns the place! Can't wait for more adventures! 🎲✨
king suggestion: "Double King" from Felix Colgrave's "Double King", rules: can kill any other king by running into it getting all of the positive rules from that king while ignoring the negatives, until there are no more kings on the board when he promptly offs himself.

Awesome!! Live it guys.
Awesome 🔥
If you play checkers the original way, it is illegal not to capture the opponent's piece.
😂😂😂 But luckily this is House Rules version.
Sullivan being the first person on NRB to correctly guess the tempting tunnel, and it not happening in a game of 13 beavers, is very in character
Definitely the first ;)
An unbelievable feat! Shame Laurie never got it, he tried so hard but could never achieve it.
I can't believe he managed it in only three guesses when no one could do it in the entire game of 13 Beavers!
Falsehoods, slander and libel, and I will not stand for it! 😝
That's very true. Laurie must be very proud to witness the very first correct guess ever.
Let this be a lesson to you Dom, never leave your beaver exposed to invisible men
A lesson well learned by watching Kevin Bacon in "Hollow Man"
The minute they said "roll for noise" I burst into laughter.
Not even 5 minutes in and sully has pulled the Queen from Nemesis for what I can only guess the 5th time
The Queen always responds to Captain Adrian Bumblefuck!
The Mothman is just standing there... MENACINGLY!
Also, I can't believe Sully actually got through the Tempting Tunnel! As we all know, nobody has ever got through the Tempting Tunnel before. Most certainly not on tape.
Never before on film
Yeah, that was absolutely spectacular. It was just as lucky as someone like Laurie getting the Tempting Tunnel, but no one would believe it if it happened on tape. On second thought... oh wait, never mind, Laurie never got the Tempting Tunnel. Just another case of the Mandela Effect.
Dom as Sherlock suddenly making the right predictions after getting rid of Jack the Ripper is so wonderful. He just needed one success to kick it all off lol
Not 1 success, THE Success of killing Jack
To be fair, it's a lot easier to guess your opponents moves the fewer pieces he has.
Holmes is insanely imbalanced if your opponent doesn't have a mobile king on the board.
I think Holmes would be more balanced if u could use it to only predict a kings move. Once ripper was off the board his ability was wayyyy to overpowered
Or alternatively add a rule that you can't move Sherlock immediately after he has taken a piece using his ability.
Makes you think if you actually want to predict a move correctly, if it would result in Sherlock getting taken next.
To be fair, he kept failing to guess the invisible piece, so it was a lot easier when he could actually see all the options.
Can this be like monopoly. A repeat series. The variety could be insane.
50:33 - Sully: "You shouldn't've left your beaver open."
Dom: "From an INVISIBLE MAN, Sullivan!!"
This was a classic, a must repeat, and dare I say it, having a tournament of this game should be the qualifier for the next Lord of the Board campaign. Winner goes on to challenge Sully for LOTB
absolutely this
Every player bringing one King of their own design, with refinement from Teri - but random king assignment throughout so you can't just pick one that you confidently know is powerful.
“You could have been sportsmanlike about my beaver, but you weren’t, were you…”
I like how dom makes it obvious he's not good at checkers by instantly removing his back row of pieces.
For the last time, it was beginner mode!
never thought I’d see someone backseat checkering before lol
@MrSkerpentine Well come one, there's like one rule in checkers and thats to keep your backline as long as possible.
We have finally found Dom’s weakness: he is really bad at checkers
Chess Queen - A powerful upgrade to a checker king
Nemesis queen - Roll for noise
The Racing Camels - *”remember, no Russian.”*
6:55 Poor Dom didn't even notice his queen could jump the enemy queen.
I know! I was almost screaming at my screen 🤣
I thought she couldn't pass through pieces
@@donncha-fv7ne That's how you jump over a piece.
@@TheFinalChaptersbut in checkers it’s only diagonally you can jump.
It can't idly pass through pieces (like normal chess) but since it is capturing a piece it would be valid (ofc in chess you land on the space, but this is checkers so you have to jump it).
I could easily watch an entire series that’s just Checkers with new king options.
dom has the energy specifically of an 20th century man who has been fired for going to far with his practice (mad scientist, detective, etc) in an excessive homoerotic horror movie
that’s his character’s entire vibe in The Secret of Castronegro on the Grizzly Peaks podcast just fyi
That is indeed very specific.
When do we get monopoly, but its a social deduction game
Monopoly on the clocktower
You mean, like…..Secret Mr Moneybags? Work out who the Landlord is before he buys up all the property?
I want this so much!
@@Kami-mk7tuSo, no changes made then? Pretty sure landlords are already demons.
I read this comment as “social seduction” 😳
I can't believe Sully's the first person on the channel to succeed at the tempting tunnel!
I see what you did there ;)
I know right! They’ve done a whole game without going through the tunnel. And now within a few turns Sully just succeeds, amazing
Sherlock Holmes: Master of Deduction
Dom Allen: Master of Seduction
this video really captures the chaos of the original house rules in the best way
Sullivan and dom are an unbeatable duo
I think Sullivan dying of laughter is my favourite part of every NRB video
Oh this one deserves a replay with other pieces, imagine if they somehow put hit the silk into it
Dom really brings a Shirkey Houses level of competency to detective work
"I love beaver" - Dominic Allen, 2024
The only time you’ll ever hear him say that 😂😂
So what this video finally made click for me is that Sully has golden retriever energy and Dom has brooding cat energy. Thats why they go so well together.
I adore you for this.
I love how Dom says things that Sullivan is genuinely not expecting
I love that Sully, with all of his luck, within the first 5 minutes, had once again pulled out the Queen from Nemesis 😂
This is the best house rules since communopoly.
at 21:00 sullivan casually gives dom his 4 pieces back and doesn't give back the queen. It almost felt intentional to distract dom in forgetting to ask for it specifically.

@@songofshadow5043 well dom did say he'd be bringing the queen back when he learned of the cthulhu mechanic
@@songofshadow5043
you weren't paying attention were you. They explicitly said that's what Dom was planning when he got Cthulu
The way the video is edited makes me think there was a conversation edited out of them establishing he can't get a king back
This is actually one of my favourite house rules from a board game perspective.
Checkers but its fun? can't wait for this!
House from Monopoly: you charge rent on enemy pieces that are a certain area around you. When ‘kinged’ it turns into a hotel and the area expands
Your opponent is given a certain amount of money. They get more whenever they king a piece. If they run out, they lose.
@@brendanhulse7439 That's actually a good house rules that they should play
@@turnipcrazy Monopoly BUT... it's checkers
It felt like the last few rounds basically turned into Calvinball ...... and I loved it!
Spoiler for the end: I cannot believe that someone got the tempting tunnel win for the first time ever on No Rolls Barred!
yep, never been done before in NRB history! Well done Sully on the first (and only) Tempting Tunnel guess!
I love the energy of these two, they look like two kids having fun and inventing a new game as they go along.
The gambler from cosmic encounter would be great. You move it secretly up to three spaces and then tell your opponent a space, whether you moved there or not. That was a "Lord of the Board" Victory if I've ever seen it. This was a great version of Draughts/Checkers.
Loving the spiritual come back of Sherkey Houses!
I'm down for a recurring Checkers, BUT... series. Please! We haven't even seen what the zombie does!
or the Robber!
Maybe zombie turns captured pieces into another zombie :D
this could be the new comunopoly tbh
Oh my god I’m going this for my next board game night. I’m picturing myself walking into next week session with a checkerboard under my arm and a big grin on my face…. Oh, they’re going to think I’m mad!!!
Dom has never said "give me the beaver" before in his life xD
sorry let me change this to "I love the beaver"🤣
I Love how Sully is more apologetic about winning this than he is about getting Lord of the Board from Jon 🤣
This is amazing, please do another one, maybe with a few new Kings. Feel like the cryptid from Cryptid could make a good one, and/or maybe the ghost/psychics from Mysterium?
Edit: The Ship from Gravwell could also be another cool one maybe?
We must have this repeated with different kings! Roll for noise and Mothman had me in stitches
Sully and Dom's chemistry is so good. 5/7 with rice, would watch over and over again.
I learned something very valuable from this video and thats if i ever end up on the opposing side of a checkerboard with either of these lads with a million bucks on the line I'll have nothing to worry about.
king of spades, your piece is only taken if they can get a blackjack
Slightly more balanced, they have to beat you in a hand of blackjack to take your piece.
If we wanted a gambling rep that could still work on the board, maybe a Western Legends character so we could see the return to WIL’ BILL
Probably the best house rules so far!
The mothman only ever saying saying "I'm scary!" bit is so funny to me because even in folklore, scary he is not. The delivery also feels as much like a declaration as it does self-reassurance lol.
Awesome idea! Thanks would like to see other versions based on games you guys have played! Cheers
Dom repeatedly saying "I'm going to predict your move" with boastful confidence and getting it wrong every time is one of the funniest things I've seen this year 😂
Board Game Multiverse Checkers is all the madness I hoped it would be. Let insanity commence.
We need more of these, had me laughing so hard. Fully invested
That was wonderful. So good. I hope that this is part of the next Lord of the Board tournament. Maybe with some different kings available...
According to the rule of regular checkers, Dom cannot pass up a capture if one is available. He has to take Sully's checker.
22:35 seems Sully also didnt, maybe their house rules
something something british something something
@@isaakpdmIt's probably because this is one of those games where nobody looks up the rules because they all know it.
