I definitely prefer smaller bikes like this than the huge stuff. And when you said that customization parts were cheap, that raised respect for this bike to another level.

I use to have a Honda Grom and a CBR1000RR and I rode the Grom much more than the CBR. The Grom is just so easy to jump on and ride around town.

I wanted a Grom so bad but the local dealer wanted $4950 out the door. I ended up getting a SV650 and have no regrets. I still want a Grom as a putt around town bike. Loving this bike content. Thanks Kirk and ride safe!

Got a grom as my first bike about 8 months ago. The thing that really attracts me is the gas and how cheap it is to fix and replace parts. Most casual Motorcycles have good gas mileage already, but the grom is on another level..

Nice to see you get a vehicle with the proper number of wheels. I'm sure the Grom is a fine motorcycle. I had a Honda CB125 as a second bike back in the 1980's. It ran flawlessly. The SuperCub is also very popular. The major problem with this bike, as you mentioned, is traffic. Many drivers are exasperated if they feel help up by a small motorcycle and would enjoy running you off the road. I've had car drivers tell me that motorcycles shouldn't be allowed on the roads where they "get in the way" of real traffic. So, the attitude is out there. The traffic you showed in the video was light and multiple lanes allowed for passing. No problem. At some point you will need to go out on a freeway. You really need a bike that can sustain 80 mph for at least a couple miles. That is why 300cc - 400cc motorcycles are so popular. Honda CB300 or Ninja 400 for example. Even smaller standard/cruiser motorcycles are a good option if you have some throttle control. Kawasaki Eliminator or even Vulcan S. The grom makes a great bike to take with you on camping trips (with the right tires). It also the perfect bike for DMV riding tests.

Being 5’6”, 120 lbs and having only driven old motorcycles while traveling in asia at 110cc, the honda Grom is my dream bike and the only bike I’m interested in owning. I also have no interest in driving on highways. The combination of a shared car and my own personal Grom for local commute or just getting out is good enough for me, and very cost effective as well. Plus, I live in San Diego and when I move back to the USA next year, can’t wait to pick one up! That, and other bikes are crazy big to me. I tell people in Asia that you can get 900cc bikes in the Stated and they are flabbergasted.

Honda Navi is a good alternative. $1807 plus fees and taxes, maybe $2400. It is a 109cc scooter that you ride like a motorcycle, drum brakes and no fuel injection are the drawbacks
