Same. took a couple cold showers the last time I had a bad case about 10 years back and it went away. I now live in the southeast and it comes like a storm , cold showers and “Defense” bar soap seems to work most of the time. This week has been hell so I gotta get a little bit of the prescribed help to knock it down a little more.
@Piggy991 I really dont understand the science behind it but just know it works. TV thrives in hot, humid conditions. Cold showers also are good for the immune system (among many other things). Maybe start with the cold at the end, to get used to it. Then I'd recommend extending the duration. See if you can get a full cold shower after some time. Good luck!

For everyone who is suffering, I have it too and Lamisil with the active ingredient terbinafine helps me. But you have to go through with the treatment. But I will use it for another 6 weeks so that it goes away completely. It is also important to put on fresh laundry every day and wash all of the bed linen once a week. It is best to use Sagrotan hygiene rinse for laundry so that the spores are killed. Make sure you don't sweat, because mushrooms love a moist milleu. I hope that in 6 weeks I will have the horror behind me. Unfortunately, my family doctor didn't recognize this and so I did my own research and found what I was looking for. And please, never use a cream containing cortisone, it will cause the fungus to explode in growth. In any case, if the fungal spot is no longer visible, it is important to continue the treatment for at least 4-6 weeks. So you are on the right page.

People with with oily skin should be careful Some acne can come out as fungal acne and you might begin to have discoloration and then boom a skin condition will occur. He’s so right!!
I was diagnosed with TV when I barely 13 years old. My dermatologist put me on a Fluconazole oral treatment for a couple of weeks, and it went away quickly. But after a couple of month, around peak summer, it reappeared, only a bit stronger and spread on my shoulders and arms. I was prescribed Ketoconazole shampoo and antifungal cream so I started using it and skipped the oral treatment, it worked again. However, it appeared again and started spreading up on neck and even my inner thighs, and surprisingly Ketoconazole shampoo and fluconazole oral treatment doesn't work anymore for me now when it's almost been ten years of TV. Now, I've shifted to a broad-spectrum antifungal Terbiderm. I hope it goes well, or I'll have to check with a new dermatologist.

Unfortunately, you can find so much information on the internet that it can be quite unsettling. I can't imagine walking around with this all my life and possibly infecting my family or other people.

I got mine from a combo of having a cat and having malnutrition, especially vitamin d and lack of probiotics... It is from Malassezia species, notably M. globosa, M. furfur and M. which is on some animals... I'm very positive it was on the cat -- and I got it from her...
It's nearly taken over my whole body. Especially areas exposed to the sun get most affected or places that get humid like private areas, under arms, etc. It spreads. I call it the Irish curse bc it's common among people who have Irish heritage.
So if it takes months for the spots to clear back out. How does one know that they’re applying their treatments properly prior to the spots clearing up?

You can also try dandriff shampoo that has selenium sulfide -- I bought some that has a licorice smell so it's not too bad... also sulfur soap works but that really smells... use an antifungal soap... I’ve had this for years , it’s not diet . It’s literally a fungus , lol no amount of healthy or unhealthy diet . It’s hereditary, my dad has it and all of his kids have it . I didn’t get it by not eating healthy .
The fungus is feeding on sugar and carbs. You have to starve them out. No sugar, no food for them to live. It may take about 6 months to even see results. Slow process.
I suffered from this all my life. I’m from NY. When I moved to Los Angeles for 3 years it went away completely, when I moved back to NY it came back with a vengeance. Very weird.
Great informative video. I’m taking your advice for sure as it returned after many years. Once it’s gone, I’m going to use that ketanozole shampoo every so often. My dermatologist said that if I go into the Sun a bit and my spots get some Color, then most likely I’ve stopped the yeast from creating more spots. Is that true? Thanks again
I tried the 2.5% selenium sulfide and my whole area under my chest is burning up. I used an appropriate amount with some water and let it sit for 10 minutes and rinsed it off real well. This is so frustrating. It wasn't hot or itchy at all before I used this stuff.
Can it live in your home? I believe this is what I have. I am OCD, clean my house 4x a day but it is everywhere there for I cannot get rid of it. My dog was just diagnosed with a yeast infection on her skin. Please Help I'm losing my mind 😢
It does not spread through contact. May have more to do with household diet. Too much sugar and carbohydrates will feed Tinea Versicolor. There are a lot of studies that suggest your gut health has a lot to do with Reoccurring Tinea Versicolor.
Seems not. I am carnivore and it shows still. However I removed it by a 3 day fast but it came back again. My dermatologist said it’s not possible but of course he doesn’t know such hacks. I have severe itchy bumps on my scalp all over, they come then go and get more itchy when I sweat. i also have hyperpigmentation on my forehead and that's very itchy at times. i think the scalp thing is folliculitis but my derm thinks it's just dandruff which pissed me off. Do you think the folliculitis on my scalp is related to my hyperpigmentated skin on my forehead? Oh and also it is causing drastic hair loss at a rapid pace which is frightening because my hair used to be very dense and within about a year now I can see through my hair to my scalp, especially when its a lil oily and I feel like I will be bald in a few more years at this rate

Why, under your video, is a video from the Institute of Human Anatomy about gonorrhea? 🤔😶😂 Doc, I have a question: I know medical rules and regulations. I just want an opinion of what it might be. I originally saw a dermatologist because I felt like I had developed rosacea. My dad had rosacea, mostly on his nose, and used MetroGel when it first came out. The derm told me it was not rosacea but something else I cannot remember and prescribed me Sulfacetamide emollient cream. It worked like a charm. I want to see if my PCP will prescribe this for me because I called the derm office and I would need to get another consult and the waiting period is long. I just need the name so I can see my PCP to tell her. They are red dots that can be dry at times, but she said it was some sort of acne type thing going on so I can see how sulphur would work on that. The derm provider that prescribed it to me is no longer at the practice. I wish we could post pics on RUclips, But then again I don’t. I can imagine how that would be misused in the most awful way. If you can’t answer I totally understand

This really throws me off because I usually get this in the winter time when my skin is very dry, not in the summer warm time. I never tried to figure out what it was the first 2 times I got it, because it was a very small break out. Only like 2 tiny patches on my neck taht j could cover with makeup. This third time , it has spread over half of neck and has gone down to my chest so, I had to figure out wtf this is! It makes me VERY sad to have this because I’m brown skin and these patches are stark white so if ppl see it, they’ll ask “what happened?” Or is it a burn 🥴 I hate it here! And it’s DISGUSTING to know there is a fungus growing on me. My trypophobia is screaming 😩
🤔Mines is weird how I got mine. One day it was cold and I live in Hawaii all my life and I’m a native; this was the first time in my life this ever happened to me it looked and felt like I had a allergic reaction (cold urticaria) then the red swelling went away but my skin started changing into white spots that look like tinea versicolor I have the spots all on my arms and knees. Thanks Doc! Very informative and reassuring 🙌🏻
I had it once took pills for a week it gone never came back, the main reason is too much sugar consumption, guys control your sugar intake specially gummies, you can buy any shampoo that has kietoconazole wash your skin twice a week it will help to get rid of it fast.
It’s not sugar. I rarely eat sugar unless it is fruit. And contracted it.
@@gp46and2 it also caused by yeast infection use kietoconazole shampoo for 2 mins and rinse it..
Its between my breast since last year, treated it thrice, but this time its just not going away. It has affected my confidence on bed way too much . Ihave started hating my body
I have seborrheic dermatitis and backacne with very scarce white spots . My doc has given fluconazole 400mg per week
Please everyone that is watching, he is telling you great advice but he doesn't touch upon the diet. Cut out all SUGAR, carbs, and alcohol. You will have beautiful skin in about a month.
Including those from fruits?
Eat fruits that don’t have a lot of sugar like pineapples and bananas
I’ve had this for years , it’s not diet . It’s literally a fungus , lol no amount of healthy or unhealthy diet . It’s hereditary, my dad has it and all of his kids have it . I didn’t get it by not eating healthy .
The fungus is feeding on sugar and carbs. You have to starve them out. No sugar, no food for them to live. It may take about 6 months to even see results. Slow process.
Berries have the least sugars. @@rig8824

This is crazy, but I quit drinking alcohol, and I almost went away 🤔
Very very informative! Thanks doc!
I suffered from this all my life. I’m from NY. When I moved to Los Angeles for 3 years it went away completely, when I moved back to NY it came back with a vengeance. Very weird.
Sir how to cure hyperpigmented due to tenia versicolor pls reply
You mention you can use lotion, but won't some lotions feed it? Is Cerave lotion ok to use? The kind in the white and blue tub.
Thanks again
did you find out?
@@bazosmarek7981 not yet. It’s been cold here but as soon as I do see the Sun, I’ll try and remember to reply here. Thanks.
@@GrungePopRecords how is it going so far mate?
@@Matt17969 I used the shampoo and it slowly went away. I’m totally fine again. Thanks!
@@GrungePopRecords great to hear mate, have a good one!
Can you please tell me if it is contagious or not, my new dermatologist told me it can spread from skin to skin contact, but my md said it doesn’t..
It's not contagious. Everyone has this fungus on their skin already. People with TV just get an overgrowth in certain spots. It can be diet related.
Hello, can I use the shampoo on my face?
I need to know the same thing. It's going in my eyes and my face from my hair.
Yes, you can
I tried the 2.5% selenium sulfide and my whole area under my chest is burning up. I used an appropriate amount with some water and let it sit for 10 minutes and rinsed it off real well. This is so frustrating. It wasn't hot or itchy at all before I used this stuff.
Use aloe vera gel, and seek god
Can it live in your home? I believe this is what I have. I am OCD, clean my house 4x a day but it is everywhere there for I cannot get rid of it. My dog was just diagnosed with a yeast infection on her skin. Please Help
I'm losing my mind 😢
It does not spread through contact. May have more to do with household diet. Too much sugar and carbohydrates will feed Tinea Versicolor. There are a lot of studies that suggest your gut health has a lot to do with Reoccurring Tinea Versicolor.
hey @208skindoc can I use Ketoconazole body wash ??
What about diet? Has anyone had god results from dietchange? Like no sugar.
Seems not. I am carnivore and it shows still. However I removed it by a 3 day fast but it came back again. My dermatologist said it’s not possible but of course he doesn’t know such hacks. Next time I will try combo fasting + strong oral treatment plus skin treatment and lion diet… I think when I eat dairy it comes fast
Been having it since I was 13 years I’m about to be 30 can’t get rid of it.
Wow wtf 😮

Is terrasil effective?
I'm undergoing treatment right k
Now, I really don't know where I got this uneven skin color.
Hello Doc, I need a consultation with with you how can I get that?
Thank you for the shampoo tip
I have it on both my arms only…. I am avoiding wearing short sleeve shirts / blouses…which prior to this skin rashes….I am fond
of wearing especially on summer time ….My family doctor recommended SELSUN Blue Shampoo/ Conditioner which he said

IT GOT WORST !!! I need help….it is getting me so depressed!!
Thanks Doc. God bless.
DR thank you so much
Why, under your video, is a video from the Institute of Human Anatomy about gonorrhea?
Haha I have no idea
Thanks for the info Doc! Really helpful! I’ve been oral medication coming up to my 2nd week which is my last week. I’m currently taking prescribed Turbinafine 250mg tablets. No changes on my skin yet, but I’m hoping it’s doing it job! I’ll continue to use Nizoral shampoo on my body 1x or 2x a week and hopefully it clears.
update please??
@@thatsright9473 not much progress to be honest. I know it can take a while. I was put on itraconazole couple weeks ago which I’ve finished but same thing. In the meantime, I’ve been referred to a dermatologist.

How to treat the brown spot?
I have the brown spots patches on my back.
My daughter has the red color rash that looks just like this. She’s 13 and says it’s painful? Is this the same.
Hi Jim, I have tinea versicolor and I never felt any pain and I have had it for a few years now. I don't know if different people have different symptoms, perhaps you should take your daughter to the doctor. They should be able to help.

Will Hibiclens soap work?
No
What about Selsun Blue?
Colloidal silver sprayed on the skin is the simplest and most effective I’ve found.
I made a sulfur based soap that may be the most effective solution yet.
Ketoconazole doesn't work for me and Selenium Sulfide did, however they got rid of all Selenium Sulfide products in the UK. Is Sulfur Salicylic acid a good way to fight this?
For how long did you use ketoconazole? It should be one tablet a day for 30 days

Use sodium thio sulphate ( hypo)........😊
Hi there, how do you use Sodium thio sulphate in treating hypopigmentation? Thnx
I get it on my stomach during the winter too
I’ve tried everything nothing helps
