Great clexacon, I would like to see more of them. I realize each character must have a story line and an arc to complete it, but there just isn't enough of Tessa and Mariah stories. WE NEED MORE!!!
Thank you, Camryn, for bringing up the issue of FOOD WASTE in the entertainment industry & in Western societies in general! I can't tell ya'll how happy I was to hear her become passionate about such an important issue in our affluent, wasteful, overconsuming 1st world countries!! I like when people with an audience educate that audience about something said audience would probably never even be aware! I wish more people brought up issues like food waste, plastic pollution, waste in the shipping & textile industries, etc., especially wildlife conservation! Wildlife gets so little attention, despite so many incredible species being on the brink of extinction due to human activities.
The best question he asked was, "What do you bring to the character that another actor wouldn't bring." That was a really interesting question. I didn't know that Mariah got the comedic situations & lines b/c of Camryn's humor. Honestly, if they did a spin-off, I'd love to see them do more comedy. It could be a dark comedy like the fantastic Netflix series, "Dead to Me." That show deals w/ VERY heavy issues (grief, guilt, anger, forgiveness, & much more) but it also has some very funny lines.
Cait brings this playfulness to her character, she's truly a kid at heart. And she dresses very feminine in the show but sometimes there's this suave boyish energy that bleeds out to her gestures and acting. Idk I'm reading way too much into it, but I just find it attractive😅
They will probably EVENTUALLY upload it to the Clexacon YT channel. I've watched Chyler Leigh from Supergirl, Wayhaught, Nikki & Nora, BAM, Spashley, and Crystal Chappell, Jessica Leccia, & Nadia Bjorlin from Otalia/Venice here on YT from past Clexacons. I was concerned that maybe they were going to stop doing that b/c they were offering a virtual Con this year and of course, people won't pay if they know they can see the panels on YT for free shortly thereafter. But, even if they are no longer going to upload the vids right away, after enough time has passed, they will make them available (possibly when they open registration for next year's Clexacon as a way of getting people excited to go, either in person or virtually, to the next Con). But check the Clexacon channel periodically to see the vid in full screen.
The wedding was so beautiful. And the vows were wow, amazing and touching. The writers are closely paying attention to their actors. Yeah Camryn has a nice voice and she does not sing at Y&R. Hahaha you did a lot to deserve a lot of yelling.. and still Mariah stuck around. When I was watching them in the early days I was already questioning why they are still together.ohh it seems so much fun to be there with them they are so fun. I agree with Cait the cheating thing was resolved so quickly. I love them so much. These actresses are really amazing to be able to so these characters even if its hard sometimes especially in a soap opera on air for 50years. They are really phenomenal.
I think too many of their issues are resolved too quickly. Mariah should have been dealing with PTSD from her kidnapping for much longer, and not just with the issue of bonding with the baby! Tessa's vocal surgery & recovery should have gone on much longer. Either thing would have caused some people to lapse into depression or to get angry. The actors on this show do a great job of turning on the waterworks in the moment, but as far as sustained grief or serious depression, not so much. For a good example of sustained grief, look at Marian Aguilera who played Silvia when she & Pepa were broken up. There's a scene with her younger sister & Rita where she is sitting there a million miles away while they are talking around her and she's like, "Huh?" That was brilliant. I've experienced enough loss & prolonged grief in my life to recognise it in someone else. Marian was fantastic in that role. Curse the writers for giving them the ending they did!
I was like you early on. In fact, I recently came across a comment I posted back when I was first watching their story saying it was hard to root for this couple because Tessa lied so much, and now they were BOTH lying (when Mariah pretended to get back together with her to get information). Tessa did such shady things early in their dating relationship & the lies & secrets made the audience (or me, at least) suspicious of her motives too. It was only when I saw her completely fall apart when Mariah moved out, and then the next time Mariah came to talk & she was wrapped in Mariah's blanket on the couch (that really touched me) & she confessed to being a grifter & not loving Noah but wanting his money, that I knew she really loved Mariah. You don't admit something like that if you are using the person to whom you are admitting it. When Mariah asked, "What about me?" and Tessa said, "Well you,- you screwed everything up. Falling in love with you was never part of the plan, Mariah..... I never dreamed I could be happy living in a shoebox working 2 to 3 jobs but I am because of YOU," I believed her. Unfortunately, Mariah still left her (mostly for terrorizing Sharon) & Tessa's lying didn't stop immediately after that. It took having to rescue Tessa from being left out in the woods to freeze to make Mariah realize she did still love Tessa. It took Tessa being terrorized by the women who kidnapped her to really change her & being arrested & the fear of being convicted of extortion, and then having the charges dropped & feeling she was given another chance to make better choices that she changed. (They sure do drop charges easily in that town! Also, WHY would Mariah want to hire MICHAEL, telling him money was no object if he would agree to represent Tessa after Michael had just lost a murder case & gotten his defendants 30 & 20 years respectively in a jury trial?! Not to mention bringing up the whole issue of them being blackmailed (and paying the blackmailer). Any innocent person would have gone directly to the police with the blackmail note; they would never have paid any money. That doesn't sound like a great defense attorney to me!) I didn't hear Cait say the cheating arc was resolved too quickly. I don't think that would have happened had Sharon not had cancer.

I know! I posted in another comment that Brock seemed to be there to stake his claim. *LOL* One of the usual Con interviewers would have been better. I wondered if maybe, because they added them so late to the Con, none of the usual Con interviewers was familiar w/ the couple or their story & didn't have time to prep. After all, they have a huge canon. Watching 5-1/2 years of video to understand a couple's story is not something one can do in a week, if one has a life with other commitments. Also, there are probably still people afraid of COVID, so they may have been short-handed. I'm wondering what the attendance was this year compared to previous years?

So far, the writers have done an EXCELLENT job w/ Teriah. I could write a whole essay about it. I just hope they don't blow it. I'm always expecting writers to screw me over somehow: BAM, Otalia, Minx, PepSi, Crisobel, Xena. Compare the Teriah story to the shit they did to Bianca on All My Children! Or to the way Guiding Light desexualized the Otalia relationship. Once they were ready to move ahead w/ their relationship, they wrote that lame gayby story & sent Natalia off w/o a word to Olivia. Then, when she came back, it was all about the gayby, so that once Frank was inserted into their story early on (by OLIVIA!), he NEVER left it right up to the final episode. So we had a beautiful love story w/ a couple that got a happy ending but barely touched each other except to hold hands. BAM was an offscreen romance that ended with Maggie cheating on Bianca (a totally ridiculous plot device & character assassination, since Maggie would NEVER do that). Of all the couples I've made vids about, only one, - Nikki & Nora,- didn't end in tragedy & heartbreak. PepSi, Lexa, Xena, Cristina, & even Marissa died bloody deaths, usually by being shot with a gun (except for Xena, who was beheaded). I am soooo wary of trusting soap writers in particular. But Y&R has invested 5-1/2 years into Teriah so I don't think they will throw that all away, even if it is a soap.

Brock needs to learn to read the room. Bringing up the death of one of the characters actually triggered dread in me. Surely he knows how & why Clexacon began?! If he didn't, then he didn't do his homework for this interview. I wonder why they didn't have one of the usual Clexacon panel hosts do the interview? I wish I had been there b/c I have questions I'd love to ask these two. Brock seemed to be staking his claim (*LOL*). The question about what elements they would use in their own weddings was particularly odd. Who cares? Unless one or both of them are marrying women, I sure don't care. OK, I have watched this a couple more times. I had a somewhat different impression upon my 2nd & 3rd viewings but maybe that is because I was getting more familiar w/ the conversation & I just skipped over the boring or annoying parts. *LOL*

Some of what he said or asked was good, but some of it was weird. Yeah, that was weird. He's her fiance. I've thought that maybe he wanted to stake his claim to Camryn and she made that a condition for her appearance. Maybe she wanted to have more control over the questions asked. Maybe they were short on interviewers b/c of people still being afraid of COVID. They did get Camryn very late and Cait was even more last minute. (They got Cait just a week before the Con!) So maybe they just didn't have an interviewer who was free who knew enough about this couple and their story to ask informed questions, so they were open to him interviewing them, because he knows the story. After all, 5-1/2 years of story is a lot to binge in a week or less, esp. if you have other commitments.
It's Camryn Grimes, not cameryn grimes. Would you spell Cait's name as cate fairbanks? It takes 2 to tell a great love story. It's not all Cait, even though her fans seem obsessively devoted to her. It reminds me of Destini & Crystal Chappell. Destini was obsessed with the "goddess". Until CC did something she didn't like and Destini knocked her off that pedestal she'd put her on. For a decade now, Destini has been trashing CC & Venice. How about we appreciate BOTH these women for their talent, their chemistry, & their commitment to these characters & this love story? We can start showing them respect by spelling their names correctly and capitalizing them. You may as well have written "Cait Fairbanks and her dog."
A few minutes in and I am already annoyed by the Interviewer's fiancé. "I will refer to you as GIRLS." Very cringe. He should have just been professional after the welcome intro.

What I think would have been WAY more interesting is for them to invite a third person from the soap world, such as Liz Hendrickson, to be the interviewer. THAT would have been SUPER interesting.

Yeah, that was weird. He's her fiance. I've thought that maybe he wanted to stake his claim to Camryn and she made that a condition for her appearance. Maybe she wanted to have more control over the questions asked. Maybe they were short on interviewers b/c of people still being afraid of COVID. They did get Camryn very late and Cait was even more last minute. (They got Cait just a week before the Con!) So maybe they just didn't have an interviewer who was free who knew enough about this couple and their story to ask informed questions, so they were open to him interviewing them, because he knows the story. After all, 5-1/2 years of story is a lot to binge in a week or less, esp. if you have other commitments.
It's Camryn Grimes, not cameryn grimes. Would you spell Cait's name as cate fairbanks? It takes 2 to tell a great love story. It's not all Cait, even though her fans seem obsessively devoted to her. It reminds me of Destini & Crystal Chappell. Destini was obsessed with the "goddess". Until CC did something she didn't like and Destini knocked her off that pedestal she'd put her on. For a decade now, Destini has been trashing CC & Venice. How about we appreciate BOTH these women for their talent, their chemistry, & their commitment to these characters & this love story? We can start showing them respect by spelling their names correctly and capitalizing them. You may as well have written "Cait Fairbanks and her dog."
