- Forest, Ohio is a small village in Hardin County, about 10 miles west of Upper Sandusky.
It’s population is just 1300.
Forest was founded in the 1850’s and even though the roads have gone from dirt to pavement, there’s still only one stoplight in the town.
“This was quite the bustling town back, oh 50 years ago,” said Forest Mayor Dave Book. “There was supermarkets, and two hardware stores, but as the years went by, downtown just started to dwindle.”
For a short time in early April however, Forest is going to get a lot of visitors.
Forest is in the direct path of the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8th.
“NASA contacted the village and said, ‘Guess what? You’re it!’,” said Mayor Book.

We went to Bloomville OH...Great place in the center of totality. Very accommodating
Maby 5 tourists will show up. More like relatives the same thing happened in my little town neighbors had signs on their grill and coolers out front camping in back like the moon was supposed to land and make a speach in town square or something and not a soul in sight
😂😂
I’m hoping it’s a bit busy, I care about outsiders bringing in good tax money. I don’t want it to be packed though. Sidney Ohio.
Visitors or not I sure hope everyone up there enjoyed it we had a few pass through this time. I live right on the x of this and the last one. I wanna visit there someday. I love Ohio.
