seriously, this weekend I watched two games where I was going to turn it off, but I had to watch, knowing teams still had a chance with that option to go for the 4th and 12 from the 28. The Iron had a chance !?!? after this amazing goal line stand ! c r a z y. Last words spoken on the video clip says it all "Birmingham now gets the ball with a chance."
Anthony Faiola 9 Well, they do have the benefit of being a brand-new league with brand-new teams, so of course we can’t really expect what comes next. If this league lasts another few years we probably won’t be saying that soon.
for sure ! who saw both Memphis and Atlanta winning this week ?? and there's no way I thought a Florida team would go win in the snow, even as good as they are.
Not gonna lie, Birmingham's got one hell of a goal line defense. The Iron Wall holding that many times against San Antonio is nothing short of amazing.
This reminds me of a goal line stand in the second half of UGA-Florida last year. UF somehow stopped Swift and Holyfield and got them in the backfield.
@@prospecial Me too.... Maybe it's a European thing, because we are used to see defensive -soccer- football matches on a regular basis? (just kidding.. :)
Nobody is my name and Depression is my game you a virgin 😂 or you a square and you barely ever get any so you gotta put it out there kuz you finally got some 😂 real players don't have to brag. 😎
Why the cut at 0:23 ?! The TE seals the edge, there's no one there, and the RB dives into bodies for no gain. EDIT 2:26 is almost as bad. Not trying to take anything away from Birmingham but WOW that's terrible vision.
At 0:22, thats far from a clean edge. Looked like the TE got stacked up with the DE on the outside shoulder. RB cuts in but as he cuts, a beautiful swim/rip combo by the DE cutting across the TEs face allowed the backside pressure. As for the other one, you got a double on #90 you HAVE to push the pile. and if you cant push the pile, you cant allow backside pressure. This was more about bad blocking and great backside pressure rather than poor vision. Also a bigger back wouldve helped there
This defense is absolutely incredible, we just need more on offense besides Richardson.. Perez is fine, not great but he's fine. The O-line needs improvement, the run block is okay, but the pass blocking.. Pretty hard to watch. We desperately need to work on making bigger and more explosive plays (just as commentary mentioned). The clock chewing, chip away offense is great, but can only get you so far. Especially when you're down by 2 drives with 4 minutes left.
Really enjoy the game from the Eagle Eye Camera view. Of course the NFL would never consider anything like this. I hope the AAF stays around for a while.
In hind sight, they should have just let them score a touchdown on the first try and saved 3 full minutes of clock. Iron end up losing 12-11 because they didn't have enough time. A touchdown here makes it 15-11 instead (or 17-11 if 2-pointer is successful), but those extra 3-5 points don't matter if you still need an onside conversion because you're running out of time. Had there been 3 full extra minutes on the clock, the Iron wouldn't have had to try an onside conversion with 1:40 left. If it's 4:40 left you just give the other team the ball and hope for a stop, leaving you with 2:30 and the ball with the score 15/17 to 11. A touchdown ties it at worst. Nonetheless, this was impressive, but they should have saved it for the final stop of the game!
you're assuming an offense that had show nothing to suggest it could score would now suddenly come to life by the defense being instructed to let them score ?!?! that ain't exactly Tom Brady coming on to the field for the winning drives. giving the TD which team is feeling more inspired to close it out ? Plus this is a new league that needs great moments worth talking about and that was epic. Letting them score I would imagine the final score to be 17-8. Perez presses and throws another pick.
@@ppinchera8225 I'm not assuming anything. Just stating that they would have had more time on the clock for the end of the game. I'm telling you what would have given them a better chance, instead of an onside conversion attempt. The only thing assumed in this comment thread is you assuming they make the 2-point attempt. And what's with this guy Rowgue throwing judgements about coaching pop warner? Sounds like you don't even know the basic differences between professional and peewee. They were going to score anyway, and time was the most crucial factor. Look aside all you want, ignoring factual details doesn't remove you from the low-ground.
1:04 That d lineman from the Iron is already moving a full second before the left guard. I'll never understand why some QBs have a cadence that gives away the snap timing.
This reminds me of a goal line stand from a game last year I played in. Heres the situation: At halftime we were down 40-0 We came back and took the lead with 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter to make it 48-40. They get the ball and fumble the return, we recover. Our quarterback misses an open WR the next play and dots the DB instead. They start the fourth quarter with the ball at their own 10 yard line and drive down field to score. 48-46. They hand the ball off to the halfback who has been fucking us up all game (he broke like 25 tackles and ran for 350+). Hits me beforw anyone else and I slowed him way down. The rest of the defensive backfield joins me but he keeps pushing us back. Our biggest lineman hit him from the side and he leaves the game with a fractured rib or two. (Dudes like 6'4 and 475lbs but runs a 5.5 40 yard dash.) The rest of the quarter goes with nobody scoring at all or moving the ball more than 50 yards on a drive. I finished that game with 12 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defended and 5 QB hits. I also gor flagged for unnecessary roughness twice when I slammed that damned runningback down in the first and third quarter. Trying to find some of the film from that game.
With all the changes to the NFL on onside kicks, I like the 4th & 12 from the 28 alternative. Penalty on offense, during the play, carries loss of down. Can't overload one side anymore & can't get a running start. Kicking team's recovery of onside kicks is rarer than it used to be with those changes. Maybe other levels of football should adopt this as an alternative to the onside kick.
S Antonio took so much time off the clock because of all this.. so it was basically a win for the commanders even though this was a sweet goal line stand
AAF has some real entertainment value, its just too bad it starts in winter when no ones wants to come out to the games cause its too cold. They should start their season a bit later on to try to get more people coming out to the games.
