I'm trying to make peace with the fact that it took decades to train my mind to care about an invisible man ( potential husband ) and it will probaly take years to feel free from it. I may never be completely free from him and maybe that's OK. He will be a part of my past, I guess?
Girl I hope yk you are such a help. I haven’t seen content like yours and have always been searching for it (maybe it’s a sign I should create my own too) but I am so glad you are here talking about this stuff and recommending content that isn’t boy centered. Helping us to deprogram the toxic thought patterns fr!
Please please listen to ‘the color pink podcast’ these 2 lovely ladies talk about de-centering men, facilitating fruitfulness in our own lives as women and not giving all of ourselves to helping grow the men in our lives, divine femininity vs wounded femininity… so much more. Really great and insightful
thank you 😊 you’re such a breath of fresh air in this manosphere. I love goes without saying so happy someone else has found them too! Will check out your other recommendations:))
Going to add these to my list!!! Thank you Angel ✨♥️🫶 So true about men dominating the film industry and the media! Too much violence and masculine energy in lots of films these days - I find it boring to watch! Feelings and emotions in characters are way more stimulating for me! Love ‘I weigh’ podcast too!! Gonna watch the female gaze speech now too ♥️✨
Charlie’s Toolbox is another yt channel/podcast that i’ve found speaks a lot on decentering male attention & living a life centered around more than just pleasing men
The 2019 Little Women is soo good. My suggestion for fem centered music is the riot grrl movement of the 90s, so many punk feminist anthems. Bands like Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Huggy Bear, L7, Sleater Kinney. Documentaries about the movement are also inspirational.💖
hello Alessia!! I have a question for you that's not really on the topic of this video but I just didn't know where to ask. the question is, when talking about "feminine" energy and "masculine" energy, aren't these terms a part of the patriarchal society that helps to continue it? feminine energy is often seen as something women should have and is often considered soft, caring, and emotional. masculine energy is often seen as something men should have, and is often considered hard, success and goals focused, and emotionless. so isn't it that by using these terms we pressure more women and men, to listen to patriarchal roles?? won't we rather say something like "yin" and "yang" energies? I personally don't really see a use of the terms "feminine" energy and "masculine" energy other than to keep men and women in a patriarchal order. I'd really appreciate it if you could answer and help me understand this topic more.
I highly agree. I dislike when RUclipsrs that strive for female empowerment start using the term "feminine energy" as something women need to have more. This is when I tend to disconnect. I want to be a woman that exists without the pressure of having to be "feminine", it makes me feel like I am less of a woman because I don't have the stereotypical "feminine energy". I'm still very much affected by the male gaze and those terms only reinforce that gaze for me.
@@solrubyx I really understand this, i just try to detach myself from the need to be accepted by men and society and just be myself. I'm more balanced in my energies and I think when people say they're trying to connect to their feminine energy I just don't understand why value the yin more than the yang (other than patriarchal roles obviously), they're both essential for everyone, so I just prefer working towards balance.
Love this video, especially the experience of growing up and looking to films to find out how to be. A couple of other book reqs if you like psychology especially: 1. Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes 2. The Heroine's Journey by Maureen Murdock
Thank you for all of these recs Alessia! I’ve only watched Little Women amongst these which remains one of my favourite films to date. Very excited to dig into the books and podcasts in particular. Very glad I stumbled on your RUclips channel - you radiate such positive and calming energy 😊
I recommend the slumflower or Chidera Eggerue as she is called. She's written "What a time to be alone" that really helped me! Her podcast can be found here on yt aswell xx
I think women are not allowed to be unlikable because our role is our labour. and part of our labour is that invisible emotional labour, so being unlikable, you are already "failing" by not being a people pleaser and becoming the mediator, and becoming the peace at your own expense.
I haven’t watched the full video and i have no intention to but always remember „women don’t owe you pretty“ by Florence Given is a literal copy of Chidera Eggerues Book Like they have whole paragraphs that are the same

You can pray. Prayer are very powerful. They can help you to eliminate bad thoughts of your past.
i love how u make me feel okay about wanting male validation because knowing teenage girls, they might feel guilty for wanting such things

I have to recommend the book I’m reading right now - The mother of all questions by Rebecca Solnit. Full of insights and incredibly eye opening 🩷💐
