Thanks. I know of a Car Geek who uses FabSil (which has Silicone) and everyone I'm informed, comments on how good his rooftop always looks. Been a few years since he used it. Apart from the Environmental thing, I do wonder who to believe! :)
If in doubt, follow what the top's manufacturer recommends.
Ok I am a fan! this was the only thing worrying me about detailing cars. now I know I can get the water to bead off of not only the paint and glass, but even rag tops. Awesome!

Would have been nice to know how hard it is to get this stuff off your windows. Would have taped them off before application.
I popped the roof slightly to do the front part and shielded the windscreen by holding cardboard underneath with one hand, did the sides with the door open and holding the cardboard again. Shielded the rear window and rear panels with old microfibre towels. Worked okay
I'm about to apply this product to my convertible top...it's out in the sun drying at the moment. I'm surprised this video shows the guy spraying the car in an enclosed area without any apparent concern about inhaling the spray. This stuff could cause major problems with your respiratory system. Read and abide by the warnings on the can!

Whats bad about Silicon Based cleaners. I noted your bullet point , No Silicone?
The top material itself does not react well to Silicone. Additionally, Silicone is not considered environmentally friendly, by some.

i have a 99 caddy d'elagance with a fabric top, is this safe on the stitching. i have been using 303 protectant and i think its making my stitching come apart, so i have stop using it.
What is "A very low pH and alkalinity formula"? What is the pH @ number wise? Not meaning any rudeness.
Can I just use the cleaner as my car is fairly new?
The cleaner will strip some of the waterproofing and you should re-treat after the cleaning.
Looks great, my BMW convertible needs proofing but I've never seen this for sale in the UK, we get other products such as Autoglym and Maguires etc but not this one
Can you use the Fabric Protectant on a vinyl top?
Algae did not come off my soft top the first time with Raggtop, we'll see if it does with a 2nd and evt. 3rd treatment! Heard from a friend that "steam" may do the job!?

I bought a brand new convertible and the top is already clean. Can I skip the washing with the cleaner and go straight to the protectant application?
You should always clean first, even if it is a light duty mild cleaner with minimal scrubbing.
I was curious about the same question, but I don't know what might be on the top from the factory and what dust or dirt has accumulated since it was built. I got the kit to do the right job the first time. (I never wear new cloths before washing them because the manufacturers treat most with formaldehyde-and who knows what else-in the manufacturing process?)
M. Edwards I recently had my top replaced, and was told to wait a year before treating the top as it wasn’t necessary when new. A year later, and now I’m ready to treat it.
