Heidi better speak!! I'm so happy to hear the ice cream machine thing bc when I worked at McDonald's, the only reason it was ever down was bc only a manager was allowed to clean it and the machines don't work until they've been cleaned. Like, its not actually broken its just dirty and someone's being lazy af.

I'm very happy to say we do have age appropriate ways to teach kids about our community! We don't discuss adult interactions and sexuality, we only address gender. 'Little words' is what we introduce on the carpet for pronouns. Our school hired a non binary aid that corrected our initial gender assumptions & my kids caught and edited themselves so quick. They would check me faster than a wip when i was still in my own self correcting phase. Literally no deal. Adults are literally the only people who get disgruntled for having to adapt for inclusion. Imo its's really just excuses because wer're being challenged with the reality that we're slow, our process are outdated and too many refuse to grow. We have many same gender adult(we don't say parent, bc every household does not reflect a two parent or even one parent home) families, and we incorporate story time books that reflect queer families so it's already normalized. My former student now going to third literally in the last week of school said "Love is love" when commenting on some queer normality that came up on the yard. And he looked at me, because that's what i used to say, and upon current reflection...i realize I've done my job.
