Good review mate. We've had ours for years, including life on the road in 2017. We've lost a few along the way to over-torque but overly we've loved them. You are right, we gave them to the kids as a job to do, much safer than swinging a hammer!
Thanks for the review. I'm tempted, but they are pricey. The only worry I'd have is in hard ground - not hard mud, by compacted gravel. They also do aluminium pegs, which are probably better suited.
No problem at all. The plastic pegs I’ve found suit 95% of our camping. There has been times where we have used the provided drill bit to predrill the ground before screwing in the peg and that has worked well. They do sell the aluminium ones and these are amazing for hard ground. You can either knock them in or screw them in and then they screw out. Peggy Pegg make some beach specific ones called the Long - peggypeg.com.au/collections/camper-awning/products/screw-in-peg-long_pack-of-2 these work great in the sand. Screw in pegs are definately game changers. Especially when you have 20 or more pegs to put in when you fully set up. I have the metal supapeg ones. Can use my hammer drill with them. Go through pretty much anything I want them to. I have a question. Where did you get your awning guy ropes (straps). I have been looking for some for awhile. Can easily find ratchet straps but not the pull type buckle ones.
Yeh they sure are. I don’t know why I waited so long to buy them! The straps I use are from Navigator Gear. They are awesome. They slide into the sail track. navigatorgear.net.au/collections/shop/products/awning-buddy about $50. Hope that helps 👍🏻
I have a ryobi 3 speed impact driver with my bunnings screw pegs but found i have to turn down the drill to speed 2 with the screw pegs so i don't strip the hole from spinning the screw too fast. Keep the videos coming.
That’s a great tip! My rattle gun has 2 speeds so will definitely do that next time as I did find that on the smaller pegs in softer ground. Cheers Adam
Ah right. That’s a similar peg, actually a copy of the original Peggy Peg. RTM sell the Rovin brand not Peggy Peg. I have heard people having a lot of breakages with the copies.
Been there, done that. They don’t worth no where as good as Peggy Peg. Considering coach bolts are designed for timber and the thread isn’t very coarse, they don’t grab softer ground very good. Any way if they work for you then that’s great 👍🏻

Upgraded to metal version after several broke in the WA wind. RTM refunded full purchase of Peggy pegs

Or you could just use galvanised coach bolts and washers for 1/4 of the price
