    Sir, the action integral constraints the system to follow a particular path. So can we treat the equation as a non holonomic constraint equation?

      The action integral does not impose any constraint. Rather, it allows for variation and finds where the minimum is. Therefore, action integral will not decide whether the dynamical system is holonomic or not.

      Hamilton's principle itself is a mathematical principle. So, there is nothing like formalism to Hamilton's principle.

      At 56:30, I am explaining about energy minimization at thermodynamic equilibrium. This means you wait for a long time until the P, V, and T no longer changes. In the case of Hamilton's principle, this is equivalent to the path taken by a dynamical system. For example, if you throw a ball up at an angle of 30-degrees, then why is the shape of the trajectory a parabola and not something else? Here "parabolic trajectory" in dynamics is equivalent to "thermodynamic equilibrium" in thermodynamics.

      Yes, the words stationery and extremum point are used synonymously. In classical mechanics, it is known as the principle of stationary action. However, the word "stationary" is somewhat misleading and requires explanation. Stationary means setting the first derivative (condition for extrema) equal to zero.

    Sir here in hamilton principle we are taking the variation in phase space but in Goldstein book it is given that the variation is in the configuration space i.e. co-ordinate axis should be generalised co-ordinates .
    Please clarify it

    Dispersion in prism due to crystal structure light deviates that path how can you say least path travel comparison and least time path not suitable since light travel from one medium to another medium depending upon density of the medium should not show minimum path distance it is the real phenomena so what is happening should be explained putting Hamiltonian principle unsuitable I suppose.Also Nature's preference also wrong.Reality is minimum effort required path electricity and light rays takes and passthrough and we measure it..
