the first pcie slot layout design was good on the b550m mortar but now it's a shame the b650m mortar changed the layout of the first pcie slot to be too low, not good for a thick gpu card placed in a micro atx case
@TheOdsystem does it mean I can't install a wider graphics card no matter what, or does it mean, I can install a, let's say, 3,5 slots graphics card only problem been I will block the second PCI slot? Because in my case, I won't need the second PCI slot anyway.
Looking to upgrade my PC next year and this motherboard caught my eye. I may aim for a 7900X build though (depending on pricing), I do not see why this motherboard would not suffice. Great review regardless!
haha thats great! Hope my review helped in your buying decision :) Yes u can use a 7900X on this motherboard. But if u wanted PCIE 5 to go along with your 7900X, u will need an X670 :)
I think it's a good board for 7900x. I built exactly this with this board - it has 2x 8pin power for the CPU when most of the competition has 1 or 8+4. I had some problems with mine though but I'm pretty sure it was a bad board rather than typical experience. First the RGB died almost immediately. Apparently a bit common with MSI boards. Not something that would bother me too much but still it's supposed to work. I sent it back when one of the USB controllers stopped working. The other thing to look at is that the pcie x16 slot is one slot below the board I replaced it with, a gigabyte board. This might be good or bad depending on your case, but not something I knew varied
@@jmxtoob thank you for the insight. The gigabyte board looks like a great option and I will certainly consider it. I hope it doesn't give you trouble!
Works fine with a 7950X, VRM temps stay low. The only problem is the price, the packaging look like the one of the entry level Asus B350M-A (100€ at the time ) with the price of asus Crosshair X470.
I bought this when it came out last year and it constantly crashes, says it can detect teh graphics card or teh dram, adn now its crashed so many times it corrupted to OS. All complaints about it online say its terrible bios. I have yet to find a solution after one year.
I agree with you. I have a compatible memory kit F5-5600J3636C16GX2-FX5. If EXPO is enabled, then I get cpu dram lights or crashes my windows. I don't know what to do anymore, I use memory at a frequency of 4800....
The motherboard requires a 2x8 pin connection for the CPU. I'm asking because many motherboards work with a single 8pin. Can this motherboard also work with a single 8pin? If it is not, I'll get the gigabyte version that works with a single 8 pin.
Hi! Is this motherboard compatible with Ryxen 7800x3D? Is Smart Access Memory available through bios? Also do you know if this cpu requires 1 8pin or 2 8pin connectors? (Btw Im not planning on OCing) It caught my eye because of its minimalistic black design!
Yes you an use a 7800X3D on this board. And you can turn on Smart Access Memory (SAM) in the BIOS (I believe it is already turned on when you boot up the BIOS for the first time). For the 8 pins, I believe one is good enough for the CPU. But if you can, just plug in both on the motherboard.
Thank you for the details .. I see you used only one 8 pin block for the 7700x AM5. Just to give a heads up the Asus x670e wifi is a trouble system .. ... Bios and extra issues... Next time I am down in Bugis or Sim Lim I will need to look around.. 感謝您的信息。
Will a 3.1 slot GPU, specifically the Palit GamingPro 4080, be compatible? There only seems to be enough space for 3 PCIE slots, and any card that's thicker looks like it might obstruct the bottom headers.
Yes you can run the 9800X3D on this board with a motherboards BIOS update. But I dont think you can OC the CPU on this chipset (if you care for OC). I am not familiar with the Phantom Spirit, but if it is compatible with AM5 sockets, it will work anyway.
Yes the Zen 4 boards are still expensive! Hopefully we see something better in the future. Perhaps it will be more affordable at least with the launch of the non x Ryzen 7000 CPUs?
40% more expensive than the B660M DDR5 for intel CPU, almost the same board. Price premium certainly because manufacturer don't like the upgrade path on AM5 . . .
Hi, Why did you say you wouldn't install 7900x or 7950x?. I want to get a 7600x and then upgrade to a future 7900x3d. I have no interest in overclocking. Please let me know.
Sorry for the confusion. If u do not plan to OC, u should be able to run a 7900X on this board. I actually meant for more a mid tier build, where you balance this board with a more mid tier CPU.
@@RealMelTan thanks for replying, I will probably eventually get the newest AMD low-end card when it comes out (so, I guess a 7600 if they stick to the naming convention).
Hey Ishraq, sorry for the confusion. I think there's something wrong with the chapters. There's no issue with a top mounted AIO with this mobo. You can mount as per usual.
'Best' is an awfully subjective term in this context. Asrock and Gigabyte (e.g. Aorus Elite) are strong competitors if not superior in many relevant ways.
@@Ghostlynotme445 These days most noobs have no idea who they are. They do have a store on Amazon you can check out. Quite a popular brand in China and Europe. I would put them on the same level as say Asrock in terms of quality.

also I didn’t get. Is it ok to put for example non-existing r7 7800x3d in it?

Yup it can, use the top slot. It still can handle the 7800XT, but make sure to fasten the board well into the case.
@RealMelTan yep, thank you very much.

1x CPU Fan
1x Pump Fan
3x System Fan
