I bought this same combo and took it and my 5wt away for a weekend camping hiking fishing. I ended up leaving the expensive 5wt in its tube as the 2wt was so much fun. I bagged 25+ fish over 3 days up to a couple of pound... awesome value for money and highly recommend.
I've owned well over 100 fly rods and still enjoy fishing my Maxcatch Ultralight series rods. the 7' 3 wt (with a 4 wt line being my favorite of the entire line.) . They cast well (especially when overlined one size) and are tough little rods. Fit and finish is better than they should be at that price too. The combo reel and line are usable but for another $30 or so, you can upgrade both significantly right on the MC website.
They are a great company in my experience David. I find the gear very good, they have recently sent me a package that I need to do a unboxing video for them and they get it out on a lake to put through its paces, looking forward to seeing what they have sent me and getting it wet so to speak. Thanks for watching ATB Craig
Nice video. I see I have the same rod. Love these litttle Maxcatch rods. You have them in dark green and light green. I have had and re sold them. Now , 4 years further I have this one (in video) and ordered the "biggest" one in this range which is the 7,5 ft in #3. Lovely action. Effortless casting. Great for trout, greyling and all sorts of chub, Asp even.
Hey Ralph, they are great little rods, I did have a small issue on my 2nd trip where the reel mount glue had failed so the reel could not be seated, maxcatch were superb though and a replacement was posted out the next day. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Have a great day Craig
@@Craigsoutdooradventuresbtw, the standard cheap M.catch lines will not always be that great to cast. But they imitate like the Rio Gold. Which goes with different names made by Maxcatch. Like the " Avid FlyLine" comes in a box. Or you can choose without the box. Around €20 ! (also two colored yellow and green) these ars such a difference fot the better than the 8€ standard lines. Maxcatch makes more different tapers these days. Which is good of course. I had some bad financial period. And lost all my Top Brand fly fishing gear during. Later I very reluctantly ordered one fly reel from them. Now I have a lot. Their nano im46 tons flyrods are excellent. Bit I also use Sientific Anglers Art lines for other rods. What I mean is , I dont feel ashamed anymore people see me flyfishing with a cheap brand . As long it is descent and proper made.
Another beautiful beat there! I am using a maxcatch 3-4# reel in the Brook Trout pattern for my dries/emergers. It's a good reel as long as you don't get grit in it 😂 Also, I do hear good comments about the maxcatch range. All the best bud 👍🏼
It was a great day and yeah I have a fair bit of the Maxcatch range and really can’t fault them, in fact I’ve got a 10ft 4wt in transit currently… just don’t tell the wife 😂 thanks for watching bud
It’s a great bit of kit for the money, I’m looking forward to getting out with it again later this month. Keep an eye out for the next video, and if you are U.K. based go check out my latest video where I got a great Maxcatch giveaway 👊
Saw you on Dave Collier camping the other day on the live stream and though I'd check out your channel, nice set up you had there for a pretty good price and beautiful spot you were fishing at! 👍
@Craig’s outdoor adventures that's true, I just started fly fishing and got a 7ft, 3w, UL for pan fish, but the river kinda big where I'm at california delta and I fish from the bank... should i get a heavier set up like a 5w or 6w modern fast or medium fast to cast father on the bank?
A 5wt 10ft would be what I would look at buddy for that, depending on how fast the river is and the size of the fish, if it’s a fast flowing and 10lb plus then a heavier set up would be the way to go

It’s a great set up, I have just got a saltwater rod from them so looking forward to getting out and testing that one
Sir, im about to buy 4wt rod for 4wt line. Should I switch and choose 3wt rod from Maxcatch instead? Thanks in advance :)
@LajtowyWedkarz I would go a size down 100% 3wt rod and reel then 4wt forward line. Casting will be much better
Its a beautiful and refreshing view of nature for fishing thanks for sharing
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment
Thanks for sharing I enjoyed watching.🐾🐾
Wonderful, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment

I've caught Carp at our lake on fly - FANTASTIC - I'm wondering how this kit would handle them
Would take some playing but reckon they would handle it they great rods in fairness

@Iheartmyson thanks for the advice 👍
I got the max catch 5/6 weight extreme reel with 9' rod for Father's Day and it's great. It catches fish and doesn't break the bank.
@tracythomas3565 they have some fantastic gear, my collection keeps growing 👊
Really nice video my friend 😊. Interesting to watch!

Thanks buddy, Dave is great only been following him a few weeks but really enjoy the content
Is ultra light good only on small river and stream only?
That is what it’s designed for but dont see any reason why it can’t be used in bigger waters.
