    All of these books sound great! Adding them to my TBR!!! The Watchers is the basis for the new movie that just came out in theatres. I don't know whether I want to read it or watch it first. I know you are a fan of Christopher Buehlman, so I would highly recommend The Lesser Dead. It is the first book I read by him and I absolutely loved it! Vampires, gritty 70s NYC, secret underground subway tunnels, creepy children and a bit of that Buehlman humor. What's not to love?

      Woohoo! Always happy to add to people's TBR. I did not know that The Watchers had been adapted. That's great! I will probably read the book first. I have added The Lesser Dead to my TBR; it sounds fantastic! I can't wait to continue with Buehlman. I need to read The Daughter's War to continue in the world of The Blacktongue Thief but I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback.

    I did recommend Red Rabbit! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. It had heart and I had a fun time with it. I also loved The Last House on Needless Street. Going in blind is the best way to read that one. Just stick with it. This is a great list!

      I'll let you know when I get to it. I've been eyeballing it on Libby since you mentioned it. Ahh! I'm so excited about The Last House on Needless Street. I'm definitely expecting to be confused. 🤣 I might vlog that one just for kicks and giggles.

    I absolutely love The Last House on Needless Street! 🐈‍⬛ I hope you enjoy it. Your list has a lot of great sounding books on it. Except for Needless Street, I haven’t read any of them. If you like stories about changelings and enjoy middle-grade, I recommend Guest: A Changeling Tale by Mary Downing Hahn. Happy Reading, Danni! 📚

      Eee! That's so good to hear. I'm very excited to finally get to it. Oh nice! I haven't heard of Guest. I added it to my TBR! Thank you!!! Happy Reading to you as well!

    Red Rabbit was really good. I adored The Last House on Needless Street. It is definitely one that’s best to go into as blind as possible.

      Thanks for the heads up Sarah! I've been dodging some reviews of The Last House on Needless Street for sure. I want to be dazed and confused, just as I was for Sundial. 🤣

    Oh Meddling Kids is on my list to read too! We shelve it in Adult Fiction at my library 😊 Also the Catriona Ward on this list is one I want to read!!

      That's the one I thought you might be intrigued by. Mainly because of the Scooby Doo vibes. Glad to know you shelve it as Adult Fiction. What an unusual cover. The Last House on Needless Street is one I've been dying to read for quite some time, I just keep not picking it up!

    An excellent list Danni! I have also heard good reviews of Red Rabbit. The last House On Needless Street is high priority on my wishlist. I have been meaning to read Catriona Ward for a while now. I love the Richard Matheson books I have read so far and definitely want to get to Hell House. Thanks for the other recommendations.

      Thanks for watching Cliff! I'm really excited to get to Matheson as I know he is beloved by many horror fans. And I'm interested to take a look at more of Catriona Wards books!

    I didn't care for 'Pale'...very slow, BUT 'Last House' was a great read!! I reviewed it when it first came out, was surprised you still have not read it. You are a bigger sci fi than I am, so you will love these more than I did. 'Watchers' was okay...I liked the second book better. Matheson's 'Hell House' a CLASSIC!!! I've read all of these except the last one. Good Luck with the page turning!

      Odd for a very short book to be super slow. I'm glad you enjoyed Last House! I'm so excited to get to that one. I think its one of those books I just keep trying to pick up at the right time and thus I keep pushing it off. I didn't realize The Watchers was a series. That is exciting! Glad you enjoyed Hell House. Thank you!

    I hope you have a fun (and scary) time when you get to all these. Catriona Ward's weird is definitely my kind of weird. Having just finished Sundial, she's 3 for 3 as somebody who writes books I have no idea what is going on to begin with and only slightly more idea about when I've finished. They always make to think. The Silent Companions sounds creepy and Red Rabbit has definitely caught my interest. From my owned list, I'm excited to get to Swan Song by Robert McCammon and The Wild Dark by Katherine Silva, but I might save them until the nights draw in. I'm also interested to read Found - An Anthology of Found Footage Horror Stories, which Meri recommended a while back.

    • @Danni.Dabbles
      @Danni.Dabbles  2 месяца назад +1

      Sundial definitely left me questioning things, but in a good way. I love it when an author doesn't give you the full story, but it is still satisfying. It is a dangerous path to take as I know some readers want the story fully outlined, but I freaking love it! I get waiting until the days are a little darker to get into horror reads. The Wild Dark sounds really interesting. I love a woodsie setting and ghosties of course. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts (and Meri's) on Found. I typically don't enjoy short stories, but I might be tempted as it sounds really intriguing.

    I have always LOVED the horror genre for books and movies. But for the past year or so i havent been able to read any horror because i have been anxious with everything going on in my life, the horror that i tried reading just left me feeling even more anxious😕 Hopefully i can come back to this genre soon

      Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you're taking strides to ensure your health. I hope that things settle down for you and you can come back to the genre you love refreshed and ready to read! The stories will wait for your return! 😊

      Unfortunately I just DNFed that one! 🤣 I found that the social commentary within the story felt forced and I don't think I was jiving with the scooby doo knock off vibes.

    Hi Danni, great list.
    I know I've read a book a ling time ago called Watchers. I think its by Koontz. He also wrote Twilight Eyes, and I remember that book fondly, in a creepy sort of way. These are books from the 80s or early 90s? I wish I had tome to look it up before posting.

    • @Danni.Dabbles
      @Danni.Dabbles  2 месяца назад

      Thanks Lynn! Koontz is another author I need to get to eventually. I don't think I've read anything by him just yet. He has a couple Frankenstein retellings that sound fun. I love it when creepy books still give you good vibes when you remember them!

    Hey Danni and anyone else wanting to read a cosmology of monsters, I gave it 3.5 stars which for me is a solid read but not one where I was 100% invested in the characters but I just wanted to say it's worth checking the content warnings

    • @Danni.Dabbles
      @Danni.Dabbles  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for the information! I will definitely check out content warnings prior to reading. Bummer that you didn't connect with the characters as much as you wanted to. I'm still interested in giving it a try. We shall see what I think when I get there.
