His father Sir Seretse Khama was a giant of a leader however Ian is also his own man and has shone out of rather than being always in his fathers shadow. The world needs more clear thinking and honest leaders like Mr Khama. I hope Botswana’s future leaders will continue to follow in the same non-corrupt and transparent footsteps of father & son Khama.

This is a true leader that the world so sorely needs. Just look at him, the very definition of seriousness and gravitas, conveying confidence and trustworthiness. Put him beside the politicians in the US, or anywhere nowadays, the difference is stark. This is a ray of hope for humanity - when the world over is increasingly leaning towards corruption and tyranny, what an anomaly. And in Africa, of all places! Heaven is showing us mercy. I travelled to South Africa several times for business, before it descends into current madness. I never heard anything about the remarkable achievement of Botswana. I now so regret that I didn't take the chance to visit it. I fervently wish this great country world, especially given the turmoil surrounding it. Miracle.

These men are the true liberators of their countries. The key quality being integrity, loyalty and the recognition that leaders see themselves as servants of their people. Being put in charge to ensure a better standard of living. One questioner asked about his party being voted in at every election since Independence. Since Independence the generations have seen no need to replace a leadership that satisfies their needs and strives to put measures in place to reduce corruption and manipulation of the system to maintain power. It is possible, and he has already started. Great achievement so far..

@@ronaldramalosa2231 I am not African and just came across the Khamas (father and son). Can you please enlighten me about your understanding of him. Another of your compatriots keeps calling him a dictator but dictators stay for life or a coup removes them.
With my little bit of understanding of him and his father it seems to me that they have done well for Botswana.
As for corruption I dont think their is one leader of any country that has not used their position to benefit it some shape or form (for me its a matter of the level of corruption they do or allow).
Some of the anger towards him as expressed that I am reading seems to me to be about the fact that his mother was white.
I am not African born nor raised I am an African American. Please enlighten me I am interested in what your disagreements with truly are about.
      Thanks

@@JamesWhite-fz3et a bit late to reply, but it's just politics. I am sure there are people in the US who claim Obama was the worst of the worst. That's how politics works. They know they're exaggerating. We do have very active opposition parties which would do anything to manufacture a dictator for talking points during election debates!

@@mogatsamasego not a bad idea kicking the Chinese and Indians out of the country. China aim is to bring in its own people push corruption to make the country indebted to it and therefore take over its resouces as payment plus they bring shoddy goods and do poor work.
As for the Indians per my friend (he is Indian born and raised) per him Indians are the most racist people on Earth and trust me with my friend being one of the exceptions. Indians do not mingle with blacks and dont even try to date their daughter or son.

He is a hero this man. Very polite and respectful. If ALL African presidents or leaders could follow his footsteps, Africa would be at another level by now and poverty would have been history. Africa has all the natural resources to make it to be a developed continent. We would have been on top of the leader board. But because of our corrupted leaders, some African countries will always remain static and never improve. Thank you president Khama. I hope some of your presidents leaders will learn from you. Infact theres only been two brilliant leaders in Africa and that's Khama and Mandela, the rest corrupted leaders thinking of themselves only and never about the people.
