Absolute perfection. The lyrics are simply another level. This is a true piece of musical art, with feeling, intention, sense, rythm, style, tension, wit. Pure genius. Pulp is a must for anyone remotely interested in music, independently the tastes.
Class tune. I wouldn't like to have Mr Cocker as an enemy if this tune is anyway based on reality. Great performance in portrait of pure bitterness and jealousy, with a savage lust for revenge
Pulp & Ziggy: im listening for years, soundtrack of my life mainly composed by this two greatness. Thanks for this great music and sick thoughts(especially for j. cocker).
"Yer rrriiise" I still say "your eyes" like that lol! I've always imagined he was talking to his boss in his head because he's sleeping with his boss's wife.
The most arch and vitriolic lyrics of the 90's the spectres of Jacques Brel and Kurt Weill are hovering all over this with a sprinkling of Stephen Patrick Morrissey.
This isn’t the official video of this song, is it? I couldn’t even watch it to the end. I’ve had the most incredible mental images in my mind for the past 20+ years when listening to this song and then this? It’s corny. This song deserves a redo.
Why so few thumbs up. Grittier than any Bond film track at the time and until it's reincarnation. (bar Garbages effort, i liked them too till she went all blonde like the music.) Bit like Batman songs for me, i got the Smashing Pumpkins song, except that was an official track.
La la la la la la la la la la, in the midnight hour. La la la la la la la la la la, I will come to you, I will come to you I will take you from this sickness, dinner parties and champagne I'll hold your body and make it sing again. come on - sing again, let's sing again. Oh yeah, cause I spy, yes, I spy, ssss. I spy a boy and I spy a girl. ...simple delicious !! :D
I am shocked to see this masterpiece of Pulp only has views less than 200k. But to be honest, Pulp is definitely not greater than Blur. However, if you are a teenager and cynical, you can totally ignore this comment.
I am a cynical mid-centenarian who has adored and followed Pulp from the time between His 'n' Hers and A Different Class both originally dropped, and I was a student at Uni in the mid-'90s. I still listen to Pulp in 2023, whilst it's been a couple years at least since I revisited any of the several Blur Albums I still own on CD. It's been infinitely longer since I could last be bothered to put on anything by Oasis. 😛
Sorry, but there is no comparison. Compared to Pulp, Blur seems but some kind of archetype of the Blairite years, they do not surpass that. With all due consideration. I am born 1979, and I am Not british - should add:
@@camildumitrescu3703 You're actually right on this! I dunno why (and when :P) I left this silly comment back in the day since I loveee Blur and Pulp equally :) As I'm growing older, I'm starting to feel the difference of the philosophy behind the lyrics of their songs, and gradually realised it was the ethos and social atmosphere that shaped them, which, in fact, is unfair to compare between.

This may well be the best Pulp song ever.
No way dude.
It is.
You never let your masks slip...you’re never hurried.
I totally agree. It's a masterpiece. Lipgloss is a close second.
its incredible. its sinister!
Pulp is one of the most underrated outfits out there. Love they’re songs full of attitude
So underrated. This song was then and is now, a masterpiece.
Up there with Monday Morning for not just one of the best Pulp songs, but one of the best songs EVER!
Pulp > oasis
Both better than Blur
Blur shouldn't even be brought into the conversation. #Awful
No.
IMO, Pulp > Blur > Oasis even though I like all 3 of them
1.Pulp 2. Blur 3. Travis 4. Oasis...
By far best pulp song, strange but oddly fitting video. Pretty sure Jarvis doesn’t actually spy and kill, he spies and shags ;)
Y Pulp, amo a Pulp!!
Amazing, Fassbinder and this track are a great combo.
Huh? Fassbinder as in Magneto? Where?!
hi, do you know this movie?
The crowd gasp. Bicycle skills aside, make no bones about it.....this is a masterpiece.
Class tune. I wouldn't like to have Mr Cocker as an enemy if this tune is anyway based on reality. Great performance in portrait of pure bitterness and jealousy, with a savage lust for revenge
I love this song soooo much

BEST song ever ...
Catarina Teixeira... Pode crer!
Definitely a different class
Great video. Song.
I like this song. I've liked it for a long time. Some people might have forgotten about it. 👌👌👌

The chubby guy is Rainer Werner Fassbinder. This is footage from one of his films: www.imdb.com/title/tt0064588/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_47
No its Fan made
Long live Pulp!
I like this song ,,is beautiful remember my life**
Fuck me this video is fucking perfect!

The whole song building up to this darkly erotic crescendo. Mmm, like.
adore!
just perfect, just heaven, just a fucking song !!!!!!!!!!!
Perfecto
My first reaction: this guy looks like the young R.W.Fassbinder... Great idea to use his early films' footage for the song..
EXACTLY! I was like "this guy looks like fat Fassbinder" and then I googled the title of the movie.....
Someone tell me what this video is culled from?!
Someone please tell me the source reel thid video is made from. Some new wave noir film?? Wtf is it?!
I remembered this song while in H. Jack is a mischievous spy.
Dude How is this not a bond movie/Theme song "I spy."???
Should have been the b-side to Cornell's 'You Know My Name' from Casino Royale.
Pulp is masters song's
Pulps finest moment
Amazing
I spy a boy and I spy a girl... Gözüm üzerinizde oğlum :))
When my coworkers ask what I do in my free time.
Pulp
I'm so sorry - sylvain sylvain
This is so Leonard Cohen ! 🤔
Roll 'the Future' with 'First We Take Manhattan' and let it bake through the bitterness of a closed steel mill town youth and there you have it.
👌😏
so. fcken.gooood.
Martin Gore called, he wants his check.

@@aoyawang3890 hey, no worries buddy. I would just add a RIP for Candida.
I like this song. Sounds a lil like roger waters though. Im sure thats not intentional.
My boyfriend keeps trying to make me listen to old people music like this.
+Elisabeth Goforth old people music? Pulp? fuckimg hell.
+creadcharles To be fair, the day Pulp formed was closer to the Second World War than it is to now.
Matt Pomroy Fucking hell. FUCKING HELL.
+Elisabeth Goforth He's too good for you, darling
You should thank him
;-)
