Agree! And a different "looking stupid" than Jordan, as MJ would torch everybody and they would just shake their head and think "nothing I can do against Mike", but with Larry, I bet it was more like "how the did I let Larry do that to me...again?"
When Larry came back after hitting his face on the floor, he played the rest of the game with a fractured right cheekbone and a concussion, but Larry had the heart of a lion and would not let his team lose if he could do anything at all about it. Youve only scratched the surface on Larry, theres SO much more - they way he would trash talk, telling the opposing players where and how he was going to score on them - and then DO IT virtually every time. His passing was something else, his assists, and he did most of this the last part of his career with a really bad back. The videos all tell the stories and theres a lot of stories which are even told by other hall of famers so you can believe every word of it. Larry Bird is a bonafide LEGEND and one of the top GOATS in NBA history
We may have to thank Kevin McHale a bit s a bad (good!) influence for the sheer amount of Larry's trash-talking, as I think other NBA greats have said Kevin would trash talk everybody too, and even Larry as well and that just made Bird more motivated.
At the first you asked about Bird vs Jordan trash talking. Jordan said this: “Everything I ever learned about getting inside folks’ heads I learned from Bird.”
He won three 3 point contests in a row. Also 3 league mvp in a row and was 2nd in voting a couple more times. Also averaged double digit rebounds and almost 2 steals a game fore his career. Also made all defensive teams. Three times I believe. His passing is off the charts. His fakes work so well because he was anelite shooter and passer. Also had people in no man's land. Need to check out Larry bird greatest passer of all time video re-edit. AMAZING!!!!! Also his trash talk video.

It always amazes me to see young guys reviewing Larry Bird. Many people forget that when Bird came into the league they didn't think he could make it in the NBA. Larry Legend is different. He would tell the play to the other team and dare them to stop him. The more clutch the more he did it, he played with their mind. Also Larry was ALWAYS in the right spot at the right time doing the right thing. He would pass a ball where nobody was and someone would miraculously show up. People showed up for games because they saw plays that look impossible all the time. That is why they say Magic and Larry saved the NBA. The old school play was rough and tough not like today and players stayed with a team for a long time. Thanks for a fun moment looking back in time.

Yeah I read he was mad they didn't count that. Just like the "Rainbow in the Trainer's Lap" from the 60 point game that he made that one didn't count either. But somehow that just makes them more legendary.
This is back when the players were actually tough. Bird, Magic, Jordan, etc.... these guys played hurt. You seen the blood on the jersey. These days LeBron stubs his toe, he's out 6 games.
Yes Michael said he learned how to trash talk. And Michael learned from the best. He taught everyone what trash talk was tell you the play exactly and then go do it.

A couple different players have hit a shot in game from behind the backboard, but I wouldnt be surprised if Larry was the first to do it. Maybe Pete or Wilt or something like that but it wasnt recorded.
What you don't get, is the best players in the NBA could not stop him. 3 League MVPs consecutove. He played against Magic Kareem Michael Isiah, and the rest of them. He was just good.
Yes. They called him Basketball Jesus. He and Magic saved the NBA from bankruptcy in the 80s. For real. I have Bird at #2 behind Jordan. And yes, Bird was a better trash talker than Jordan. Jordan has said publicly he learned how to trash talk from Larry.
I'd say that Magic and Bird saved the NBA from soccer-like obscurity with all the problems they were having post-ABA merger and put them right at the top. But Jordan then made the NBA into a social and economic empire. Not to forget the other greats but you can never take away that from those 3 guys.
When looking at the all-time greats describing Larry as slow and unathletic, you have to understand the context. He was a contender for being the best player in the league when he was playing, and compared to all the others in that competition, he absolutely was slow and unathletic. Think about Shaq, for example. By normal standards, Shaq is very much a skillful player and good shooter. However, if you imagine Shaq's skill in the body of the average NBA player, he would have been nowhere near the dominating force he was. He probably would have honestly been a below average player, because his skill could not have carried him to greatness on its own without his freakish power and athletic ability. Larry bird was that same idea, but reversed. He was not unathletic, but his athletic ability would not have carried him very far in the NBA if it were paired with an NBA average skill and intelligence.
Before each home game, Bird was looking up at the rafters. He was looking at Bobby Orr's retired #4, Imagine that? An NBA star paying that kind of respect to a retired NHL star? And because Orr was great and because of what Orr played through, Larry looked to his retired number for motivation before a game. That still knocks me out.
The back story to the Hawks game when Larry dropped 60+ is great from both teams. From the Celtics Kevin McHale had just broken Larry Bird's single game franchise scoring record just a few days prior to the Hawks game. Bird reclaimed his franchise record vs the Hawks. From the Hawks side it was post game when coach Mike Fratello was watching the tape he noticed the Hawks bench cheering for Bird. Fratello would fine the players seen celebrating including John Salley. Salley replied to coach Fratello by saying watching Bird play like that was well worth it. Fratello agreed with Salley and fined himself as well.
Sorry it is so cold where you are....summertime here....Props to you for understanding Bird was not slow. Bird went around, through and over every player that ever stood in front of him. He was quick as a hiccup and harder to stop. Anyone who thinks he was slow needs a new definition of slow...The game is basketball, not the 100m Sprint.
Sry mate, but even he admits he was slow (relative to others at his level of play). It doesn't mean he did the 100m in 20 seconds but more along the lines of not having that initial burst, that being said, he didn't need that burst as he operated on 200IQ playing level (gaming term for someone that can out think/out play the game).
@@thatmanstumototours2270 I'm just going off what all the greats said about him & I believe Larry even said something similar, relayed to me by a friend Larry said it to. He didn't need to run/burst take off fast as he was already moving b4 the need to move. Took me years to understand what he ment.

Dude, you need to check out the documentary on Bird & Magic - A Courtship of Rivals. Please. I even subscribed. Also, keep up the good work. Doing good reviews!
Not only could Larry shoot the ball, but he was absolutely a master at passing. To do what he did he had to always know exactly where everyone was on the court and that everyone was looking for a ridiculous pass at the last second. That's what made him almost impossible to guard. You had no idea what he was going to do. He'd go up like he was shooting, but pass instead. He looked like he was passing, but then he'd take the shot.
To answer your trash talk question, the answer is a yes he was. Exception, he really got in your head how good he was because he turned right around and proved it to ya'! To me, he's the GOAT!
Larry Bird won the first three, three point contests. He also won three consecutive League MVPs. One of only three players to do that. Good reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Larry talked about how he had 600 moves he would use daily in his opponent’s. It was so hard to tell what he was going to do and he mentally wore you out. James worthy said he would rather guard MJ over Bird because bird you had to play the mental game to figure him out.
it's not just larry's skills that made him great. it was also the era he played in. he was a great player in a league filled with great players. and almost all of them have horror stories about how good bird was and how much of a nightmare he was to play against. the mid 80s-late 90s was the most talent rich and competitive era of basketball and bird was at or near the top of that era.
Don't let Larry's slowness fool you. He was freakishly strong and what he lacked in physical ability, he made up for in hustle, work ethic and basketball IQ. He made a hobby out of humiliating guys. I saw them play in 1987, at the old Boston Garden, a gift for my 12th birthday, and it's still one of my best childhood memories. Growing up in the Boston area in the 80's, the Celtics/Lakers rivalry was EVERYTHING!

That is funny you called him Jesus. His other nickname, besides Larry Legend, was "Basketball Jesus"

A bunch of guys in the 40’s..
You don’t understand Birds basketball IQ was insane ! That’s why players were getting fooled so much !! You just never knew what he was going to do !! He may not have looked the part but Larry Legend is top 5 all time !! Played most his career in excruciating pain !!
Larry may have been the 1st person to make a shot behind the backboard....the points didnt count but that shot was great!!
Larry was such a great passer..
You have to look..lol
Larry lived in Jordan’s head rent free!🤣🤣🤣
You reacted to the Bird highlight most people just pass by that is arguably his best highlight.
Good to see some people still know the game. Subscribed.
Noone Played Harder than Bird..Look At Larry Bird as A Rocky,, Not All the Athleticism and Talent But All Heart and Passion
Larry also won coach the the year and executive of the year after his playing years
Michael Jordan says himself he learned trash talking from Larry.
The eighties and early 90s were by far the greatest basketball era ever...the amount of hall of fame players is unmatched....it also was when yhe league went from nothing, almost canceled, to what it is today...Bird is the GOAT....you need to react to "making the case" for Larry Bird
Larry wouldn't call you names. But he was one of the best trash talkers. There's a separate video on people Telling stories of his trash talk.He walked in the locker room of the 1st 3 point contest and ask the whole locker room who's coming in 2nd then left and proceeded to win It is warm up Jacket.
Larry basically schooled Jordan how to trash talk ;)
Mj coud'nt even do a larry bird level type of trashtalk.. only larry had the confidence and skill to do that.
A couple different players have hit a shot in game from behind the backboard, but I wouldnt be surprised if Larry was the first to do it. Maybe Pete or Wilt or something like that but it wasnt recorded.
BIRD...
He didn’t talk trash whatever he said was going to happen it happened 😊Larry legend
YES LArry BIRD is the master of trash talkin''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''no other compares, you cant name 1
What you don't get, is the best players in the NBA could not stop him. 3 League MVPs consecutove. He played against Magic Kareem Michael Isiah, and the rest of them. He was just good.
Jordan NEVER beat BIRD... NEVER
Just found this channel and love it!!!!
More Bird and yes, you gotta react to Magic!
BIRD was a better player and a MUCH better trash talker than Jordan EVER was....
Imagine if social media had been out when bird was in this prime trash talking
Michael said he learned to trash talk from how Larry did him.
Larry's retirement ceremony was NOT a game night...they sold the place out just for his ceremony, that says more than anything about him imo
Bird was no joke. Straight up assassin.
John’s alley wasn’t on the hawks or in the league then. It was Eddie Johnson cliff levingston and Antoine carr
He broke his cheekbone and came back out
LARRY LEGEND!
I've always thought this!
@@darrylblanch8463 The only thing he was slow at was helping mf he just dropped get up off the floor.
@@thatmanstumototours2270 I'm just going off what all the greats said about him & I believe Larry even said something similar, relayed to me by a friend Larry said it to. He didn't need to run/burst take off fast as he was already moving b4 the need to move.
Took me years to understand what he ment.
@@thatmanstumototours2270 he was extremely fun to watch, "he looks like a hick from French lick that made you look stupid". Sorry I think I got 2 quotes mixed there.
Bird and Magic would tear the NBA up today. Basketball Jesus, Larry Legend, Bird, or whatever is my favorite. You should check out Magic and Bird on Letterman. Larry talked trash for sure. But I think most of it was just him telling people what was coming to try to challenge himself and them. Bird, Magic, Wilt the Stilt, Bill Russell, and Dr. J are my 5. If you have not seen them play look them up. Have a great weekend and I am subscribing to watch more. #615
Michael Learned The Art of Getting into another opponent's head from watching Larry Bird and from Larry Bird getting into his head but indeed most definitely Larry would always always Telegraph everything he was doing tell him do it and then go and give him a look hilarious
Where do you think Michael learned it from?
4:58 Is Larry Bird the worst trash talker in 🏀 history? Yeah MJ learned the art of trash talk from Grandmaster Larry Legend the John Wick of Basketball after MJ got swept twice he learned
ALMOST impossible to guard???
To answer your trash talk question, the answer is a yes he was. Exception, he really got in your head how good he was because he turned right around and proved it to ya'! To me, he's the GOAT!
BIRD IZ GOAT... The End...
ALL YOU LABRON FANS TAKE NOTICE.BIRD WAS A BAD MAN
Larry Legend 🐐☘️👍 🏀 that's hustle that's why he's the Goat 🐐
BIRD GOAT...
Oh yeah .. Dope last name.. :)
Good reaction! BTW, there are some Chrome extensions that work very well blocking adds.
That guy, #44 said that was the most humiliating moment of his career.
I really enjoyed your reaction...it's my new favorite. Hope to see more of your Larry Bird journey. ❤️
Almost 1000 likes now! Great reaction man.
Larry Bird won the first three, three point contests. He also won three consecutive League MVPs. One of only three players to do that. Good reaction. Thanks for sharing.
You don't have to play like MJ to be a GOAT.
Larry Bird Athleticism needs to be next!
The one on my channel?
@@irishgrl Nah this one - (video id) NX8ipponmSc
Larry talked about how he had 600 moves he would use daily in his opponent’s. It was so hard to tell what he was going to do and he mentally wore you out. James worthy said he would rather guard MJ over Bird because bird you had to play the mental game to figure him out.
That was Kareem... Worthy said Jordan made you look slow. Bird made you look stupid....
@@alanduff1054 worthy did say that he would rather guard Jordan over bird too. There is a video clip of it.
@@benjaminmcclure3565 I KNOW.. thats what I meant.. Worthy didn't mind looking slow guarding Jordan. But he HATED looking STUPID...
Jordan learned from Bird with mind games
it's not just larry's skills that made him great. it was also the era he played in.
he was a great player in a league filled with great players. and almost all of them have horror stories about how good bird was and how much of a nightmare he was to play against. the mid 80s-late 90s was the most talent rich and competitive era of basketball and bird was at or near the top of that era.
NEAR the top??? The only person you COULD compare to Bird WAS Jordan and Jordan NEVER beat BIRD... EVER... BIRD GOAT...
I believe he was MOSTLY playing possum... He was reserved with his energy...
You should definitely checkout the Magic, Jordan, Tom Chambers, Shawn Kemp mixtapes.
