I HAVE COME TO UNDERSTAND HIS ONE TERM WAS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. HE BECAME MORE "AUTHENTIC & EXEMPLARY" & HIS LEGACY IS TRULY GREATLY ADMIRED, AS AN HONEST MAN, A TRUE WORLD LEADER "REMOVED" FROM THE "HOOPLA" & DECIET. HE DID NOT BELONG TO THAT SICK, SAD, SCREWY GAME OF POLITICS. BRINGS TO MIND WHAT HIS SERVICE PERSONEL SAID AS THEY WERE CELEBRATING 4TH OF JULY IN HIS LAST YEAR, "I TRIED TO DO MY BEST" & THE SERVICEMAN ASSIGNED TO HIM WHO KNEW HIM WELL SAID "YOU DID SIR YOU DID" AH! MAY AMERICANS LEARN INDEED AND NEVER FORGET.

His greatest strength was his greatest weakness: his honesty. When things were not going smoothly, he did not mince words and tell the people that everything was fine; he told them how it was and even put the blame upon himself, which unfortunately made it possible for political rivals to use that against him. His “malaise speech” and plain way of speaking was also uninspiring to lots of people but I still think that is better than other politicians who do nothing but lie. He was truly a good and honest man

At 100 years of age, Jimmy Carter was the oldest living president, living the longest post-presidency life-44 years.
More importantly, though, and regardless of what history will say about his time in the White House, President Carter didn't run out and begin a lucrative speaking career. (Although many recent names do come to mind that have.)
Instead, Carter went on to establish a nonprofit organization, he wrote books, he continued diplomatic activities around the world, and he even served as a university distinguished professor at Emory. Carter also became the face of Habitat for Humanity. Wow, simply outstanding. Simply put, former President Jimmy Carter spent a lifetime doing good deeds; it is this that he leaves behind, a most revered legacy.
    RIP James Earl Carter Jr.

With the passing of Jimmy Carter, it feels like something good and true is passing in the US. Carter was part of the silent generation who grew up during the great depression. This generation knew sacrifice and how to live with less. I can't help feeling a sadness and also a dread at the timing of his death. 2025 will see the return of Trump; a man who seems to embody the opposite to what Carter stood for. Thank you President Carter for your service, honesty and integrity. May you rest in peace and may God help America.

Carter was actually a later member of the The Greatest Generation, he grew up during the Great Depression, big band, and was part of WW 2. Biden is a late member of the Silent Generation, grew up in the 1940s, 50s, early 60s, and the Beatles and the Vietnam War was more important to his generation. Later Silents like Biden have a lot in common with early Boomers like Bill Clinton and Trump.

I regard former President Jimmy Carter as the greatest president of my lifetime. His leadership was characterized by an unwavering commitment to peace, human rights, and integrity, even in the face of political challenges. President Carter's efforts to broker the Camp David Accords demonstrated his dedication to diplomacy and conflict resolution on a global scale. Domestically, his emphasis on energy independence and environmental stewardship was visionary, addressing challenges that remain critical to this day.
What truly sets President Carter apart, however, is the life he led beyond his presidency. He exemplified humility and service, devoting himself to humanitarian work through the Carter Center, eradicating diseases, monitoring elections, and building homes for those in need. His moral compass and deep compassion for humanity serve as a timeless example of what leadership can achieve when rooted in principle.
I often reflect on what the world might have become had his visionary ideas and exceptional leadership been fully realized. Rest in peace, President Carter, and thank you for a life devoted to making this world a better place for all.

What’s crazy when ppl blame Iran hostage crisis on Carter is that in the very last days of his presidency he was up all night negotiating for the release of the hostages, but new evidence squarely affirms that Reagan’s surrogates persuaded the Iranian’s to not agree to the release until Reagan was sworn in. The final insult to Carter and a triumph Reagan deserved zero for since he did none of the work when Carter actually was. He was a man of value and still got the hostage deal done and did not let this insult prevent his ego from getting it done. Manny men would be lesser and couldn’t successfully do such a thing. He was also a direct engineer and officer working on the first nuclear navy back in the 50s which is crazy for naval historians

Some, left just outside the door... some who could not speak for themselves carried notes written by their loved ones, hoping that their love one would be taken in. Jimmy took them in. Jimmy lived the life (24/7)... "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. • @cetologist
      @cetologist 2 дня назад +6

Reagan got good timing and inherited a resurging economy and suddenly conservatives got a good reputation for being "good for the economy", even though conservative economics and foreign policies caused the issues which surfaced under Carter - the Iran situation and the OPEC/Energy Crisis that followed were entirely caused by Eisenhower overthrowing the democratically-elected Iranian president many years prior. Unfortunately, Americans are generally pretty dumb and have a short memory, so all the blame got pinned on him, and Reagan took credit for Carter's economic reforms and the Democrat-controlled congress' social reforms.
That's what happened. Conservative politicians entirely owned by corporations, like Nixon, Reagan, and the Bushes, and the congress which completely opposed Truman, were able to take control of the narrative. They turned politics into a battle of who can make the most noise and get Americans to pay the most attention to them, they made politics about personally insulting the other side and calling them filthy communists and whatnot.
Remember that Reagan was the president who *invented* modern gun control - he passed many laws restricting gun rights because the Black Panthers and other groups protected minorities *using* guns. Republicans started gun control because they feared minorities using the 2nd amendment to gain their own rights, yet now the narrative is completely flipped as if *Republicans* are the gun rights people (even though they're responsible for many current-day weapon bans like the suppressor and bump stock bans).

You’re mostly right, but I for one have always valued him. 😊 Surprisingly, I am seeing such an outpouring of people who felt like I do about Pres. Carter. So many comments on different channels, even mainstream media. And I watch the reporters interviewing people who knew him personally. Their faces show a kind of affection you don’t see often on newspeople. I only wish we would have honored him when he was alive and able to see and hear all the accolades he is being given right now.

People remember he was a farmer. They forget he was an nuclear engineer who worked for the Navy in their atomic warfare department. He knew exactly what nuclear war would look like and did his utmost to promote peace.
Every former president continues to be addressed as "Mr. President" for the rest of his life. Jimmy Carter is the only one who wore that badge as an honor and a responsibility.
The world has lost a good man. Let's hope we keep him in our hearts as a role model.
